[Bug 63297] Re: ssindex crashes
I have not checked but is it certain that 1.7.1 requires the latest gsf? If it were the single updated package it would be less of a risk. Anyway I agree we should get this patch in, and maybe others that are reported in LP or upstream considers them critical, like other crashers or data loss ones. -- ssindex crashes https://launchpad.net/bugs/63297 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 65579] Re: Administrator of Ubuntu Czech Translators destroys dictionary for translators by providing less suitable and unnatural translation
Since this problem has been discussed in the ubuntu-l10n-cs team and the majority of the members have voted for Použít, it is of no use bugging about it. Použít as in the OK/Apply/Cancel dialogue is well established and Ubuntu should not contain translations that may be confusing for users of Windows or those of another GNU/Linux distribution. Forgive me if I'm stating the obvious but for clarity, the above successful workaround does not repair the problem; with the Storage Media window and it's function with floppy drives. [Bug 65287] Weird display after update
Public bug reported: I installed Ubuntu Dapper from the cd I received from shipit. Everything is fine. I then downloaded and installed all available updates. Now, buttons change colours from time to time. It's hard to describe. Sometimes an ok-button is partially pink. Sometimes it's completely black. I also run xrdp with tightvncserver and x11vnc. When I connect to it locally, the display looks very ugly. Pink lines over the screen, buttons are green and yellow (I run the default theme, mind you). [Bug 65579] Re: Administrator of Ubuntu Czech Translators destroys dictionary for translators by providing less suitable and unnatural translation
Phrases like Apply changes are still open to discussion. This is rapid turnaround in his long-term position (http://lists.ubuntu.cz/pipermail/ubuntu-l10n- cs/2006-October/000298.html). It is quite curious, that this come after I hold up my participation in a project after one and half years hardworking. Since this problem has been discussed in the ubuntu-l10n-cs team and the majority of the members have voted for Použít, it is of no use bugging about it. This is a lie. Ubuntu Czech Translatros in Launchpad is a team about more 40 people and only MINORITY of them wrote their opinion on a specializaced mailing list. Yesterday I ask other poeple outside this group and everyone of them but one agreed with me. Due to this reason and with regard to how 10 milion people speak Czech (according to corpora) I consider quoted argument as a week and unsatisfactory. Furthermore, I consider the formulation of this bug report (especially the part about the qualifications and skill of the current ubuntu-l10n- cs administrators) not in accordance with the Code Of Conduct, Section Be respectful. I don't see any problem in that formulation as it's only describing a reality. Everyone can go to Rosetta and see that I translated much more strings than all other members of Ubuntu Czech Translators together. And I do much other work and translations than in Rosetta. [Bug 65579] Re: Administrator of Ubuntu Czech Translators destroys dictionary for translators by providing less suitable and unnatural translation
None the less, there wasn't a single person who would share the view of Petr Tomeš, who, the then-admin of the translation team, added his translation to the dictionary with a 'we won't discuss this' notice, which many of us considered inappropriate. Petr, your qualification is of no use to us, since you have refused to participate on the project any more. And from my PoV, it was because you weren't allowed to push your opinion over the consensus of everyone else present. There is no current leader of the translation, and neither of the two Czech Ubuntu Members (ondrej the admin and I) unfortunately have the time to take up this position. The team is, however, handling the sudden disappearance of the leader quite well and they seem to be working together well. I believe a competent person will step up sooner or later to take the lead of the team. [Bug 65266] Re: [UVF Exception] Sync php4 4.4.4 from Debian unstable
I'm probably going to end up rolling apache1.3 back to db4.3 for edgy, which means php4 can't be synced unmodified, so I'll have to upload a slightly mangled version to cope. [Bug 65621] DeskJet 3740 (and probably many others) should print in reverse
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: hplip-ppds i got a deskjet 3740 for super-cheap at staples. it works great with ubuntu except for two problems. the problem for this bug is that when paper comes out of my printer it comes out with the printed side facing up. the paper then drops onto the tray. this means that if pages come out of my printer 1 2 3 4 they will go onto the tray in order 1 2 3 4. when i pick them up, page 4 is on top. there is an option in PPD files specifically designed to deal with this. this option is documented in the CUPS FAQ here: http://www.linuxprinting.org/cups-faq.html#q_1_7 It says: 1.7 How do I print pages always in reverse order? [Bug 34831] Re: Hardlock of entire system (Dapper Flight 5)
Please see this debdiff[0]. Essentially, add one line to /etc/modprobe.d /alsa-base: install snd /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install snd $CMDLINE_OPTS { /sbin/modprobe -Qb snd-seq ; } Then, immediately a fresh boot /without/ any modifications (e.g., using an Edgy Beta live cd), is the system freeze still reproducible on non- Creative Labs hardware lacking hardware MIDI when you start Rosegarden? For clarity: 1) Append the install.. line (above) to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base 2) Reboot into a pristine Dapper or Edgy environment 3) Check that snd-seq (and snd-seq-midi) is (are) loaded via ``lsmod|grep ^snd_seq'' 4) Start Rosegarden and attempt to reproduce the hard freeze Note for testing that you should /not/ start ``timidity -iA'' between steps (3) and (4)! Also note that I've never been able to trigger said freeze on my hardware (uses snd-intel8x0), even when I don't use the sequence I just described, so I'm most interested in users of non-Creative Labs hardware lacking hardware MIDI.
