[Bug 46692] Re: Wireless Card shows as an eth1

2006-11-10 Thread GarlicSalt2
Hey, I'm borrowing a friend's notebook for a few weeks, which has a
Truemobile 1400 Mini-PCI card with a Broadcom BCM4318 Chipset. It runs
Windows XP, and I don't have the authority to install Ubuntu. I've
checked the info on the firmware stuff and fw-cutter, etc, but I don't
understand if this is a permenant Firmware update and is thus One-time-
only or if the firmware file is something that needs to be installed at
each reboot. I'm only running the Live CD (Dapper), and am just
wondering if I need to keep the firmware on a flash drive or something.
On the otherhand, if this is a one-time, permenant update, I am
concerned that it might mess-up the Windows driver. Hmm, I just
thought of something.

[Now looking for a Windows firmware update on Dell's Web site...]

[Bug 1703] Re: realplayer not working when esd is enabled

2006-11-10 Thread Daniel T Chen
Since Dapper, esd releases the audio device after 1 idle second. (If
you've changed this, you're on your own.)

Inserting a newer version of realplay with alsa support into dapper-
commercial (not realplayer, which is this package, in multiverse!) would
resolve this issue once and for all.

This is a problem with the fontconfig configuration. It appears that it

[Bug 71121] Re: 0.1.20060928-2 makes default gnome fonts ugly

2006-11-10 Thread Constantine Evans
I'm attaching two patches here, one which changes all of the prefer to
accept, and one which removes all of the alias sections in ttf-
arphic-uming altogether.

I'm assuming that there is some reason why uming is declaring aliases in
its configuration file, which not a single other font in fontconfig
appears to do, so I suppose that the accept patch should be the least
controversial. However, I don't understand why the font configuration
for uming does this. Is there some language reason? In addition, why is
it declaring itself as preferred for the sans alias, which *doesn't even
exist*? But I'll file another bug about those issues.

[Bug 71200] No programs can be added in the startup list.

2006-11-10 Thread geokok
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: startup-tasks

This seems to be a random problem. Some have and some not.
To add a program to automatically startup I would go to :
system--preferences--sessions--startup programs.
There I can add an application to the the list but it is not saved (if I close
and reopen session manager it is not there and the app will not start on next
login).

In the forums a workaround was suggested at this link:

[Bug 39484] Re: cups smb printing backend no longer works

2006-11-10 Thread David Marín
I've reproduce this error in current edgy version. It's strange, as I
have two edgy machines connected to the same network, with the same
configuration, and one of them segfaults and the other doesn't.

[Bug 71208] Rhythmbox hang during launch

2006-11-10 Thread patrick_g
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

There is something horribly broken in Rhythmbox (version 0.9.6 in edgy).
My computer is a laptop (Pentium M Dothan 1.86 GHz; 1 GB RAM; 80 GB 5400 rpm
Hard drive)

When i try to launch Rhythmbox the first time it hang.
No response at all and it keep a lot of CPU power and memory (see screenshot :
52 MB of memory and 92% for the CPU).

http://static.flickr.com/108/293663045_60a12d6a66_o.png

When i try to close the Rhythmbox window there is no response so i kill
the software (right clic on the taskbar and close). There is a pop up
window saying (in french) the window 'music player' did not respond
and i clic on the force quit button (see screenshot)

http://static.flickr.com/101/289211932_143fb1a9e2_o.png

Immediately afterwards i re-launch Rhythmbox and everything is ok ! (see
screenshot : 31.8 MB and 0% CPU).

http://static.flickr.com/103/293663046_73e79be25f_o.png

So now when i want to listen my music i know whow to deal with this
problem : 1) launch Rhythmbox 2) Kill Rhythmbox 3) Re-launch Rhythmbox.

[Bug 62432] Re: Crash when copying text from OpenOffice to other applications

2006-11-10 Thread erikwesselius
I very often want to paste text from OpenOffice into Thunderbird. Since
upgrading to Edgy, OpenOffice always crashes when I try to paste to
Thunderbird. My 'solution' is to use Textpad as a kind of intermediary.
But it is very annoying and I hope that this bug can be fixed VERY SOON!

[Bug 71134] Re: In Kmail there should be an append button for sent mails

2006-11-10 Thread David Taylor
** Description changed:

I have often found times where I have sent out an email and then have
- though of extra information that I would have like to append to the
- original email. So I go to my sent items click on forward and copy in
- the people from the text that was added when I clicked on forward, add
- my detail and send again. I propose a button to go along with forward
- and reply called 'append' which does all mentioned earlier at once. (why
- is their a reply button with sent mails? This serves no purpose and so
- the toolbar should be contextually aware and replace reply with
- 'append')

[Bug 62308] Re: Permission Denied on nfs clients for only some files

In my network NFS isn't reliable any more.
Access from the notebook via Samba fails also.

I agree with the classification high for this bug. But I can't
understand, why it isn't assigned to anybody after 6 weeks.

The problem is still present in the Version of Linphone that is in the Dapper

Can you apply a fix for Dapper as well (because its TLS), not only for Edgy?
