[Bug 74604] Oregano fails to launch gnucap
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: oregano On edgy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ dpkg -l oregano Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold | Status=Not/Installed/Config-files/Unpacked/Failed-config/Half-installed |/ Err?=(none)/Hold/Reinst-required/X=both-problems (Status,Err: uppercase=bad) ||/ Name Version Description +++-=-=-== ii oregano 0.50.1-2 tool for schematical capture of electronic circuits First one should not that version 0.50 is outdated and has been replaced with version 0.60 released 30 september 2006. I encountered the following. When I create a simple circuit and want to run analysis on it using the gnucap engine: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ dpkg -l gnucap Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold | Status=Not/Installed/Config-files/Unpacked/Failed-config/Half-installed |/ Err?=(none)/Hold/Reinst-required/X=both-problems (Status,Err: uppercase=bad) ||/ Name Version Description +++-=-=-== ii gnucap0.34-5 GNU Circuit Analysis package I configure everything correctly, select the gnucap engine, select the binary... the simulation still fails. An strace shows the following: execve("/usr/bin/gnucap", ["/usr/bin/gnucap", "gnucap", "/tmp/oregvO0WJL"], [/* 31 vars */]) = 0 Somehow oregano tries to execute: /usr/bin/gnucap gnucap /tmp/oregVO0WJL Quoting man gnucap: NAME gnucap - GNU Circuit Analysis Package SYNOPSIS gnucap [-b filename] [-i filename] Anyhow this doesn't work. A simple workaround (apart from fixing the code, probably this will be fixed in the new release already, but until it goes upstream it's possible to use this workaround): I created a shellscript: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ cat /usr/bin/run-gnucap.sh #!/bin/bash /usr/bin/gnucap -b $2 When you select this shellscript in oregano instead of the real gnucap binary the simulation will work. ** Affects: oregano (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Oregano fails to launch gnucap https://launchpad.net/bugs/74604 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 65791] Re: DPMS timeout restored incorrectly on login
There must be a more complete way of just simply castrating kdebase of kenergy altogether, since its functionality is all done by guidance, and heck kenergy isn't even user-visible in any fashion. I'd rather see that happen than any of the workarounds posted this far. I still have an inclination towards my method as a workaround if the ideal solution takes too long because I don't think kenergy should be calling DPMSSetTimeouts at all; in Kubuntu it's none of kenergy's business. [Bug 74590] dns is not properly functional
Public bug reported: Immediately after connecting to a PPTP VPN /etc/resolv.conf contains the DNS servers sent by the remote PPTP connection, and only those entries. The previous entries sent by DHCP are removed. After a few minutes, the PPTP entries are removed and replaced with the original DHCP entries. This is broken. [Bug 65791] Re: DPMS timeout restored incorrectly on login
Hi John, greetings for nailing the bug! I wouldn't have the time not even to try. By taking a look on the code, it seems the multiply by 60 thing crept in when they added the capability to get the system settings. The hardwired constants DFLT_STANDBY, DFLT_SUSPEND and DFLT_OFF are meant to be minutes, so there are those "60 *" to make then seconds. But the system settings are already in seconds! So, my fix would be: - make those constants mean seconds (multiply then by 60) - take out those "60 *" and let it set the timeouts What do you think? -- DPMS timeout restored incorrectly on login https://launchpad.net/bugs/65791 -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
