[Bug 74978] Hiding panel sometimes disappears.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kde Using Kubuntu 6.10, i have the panel on the bottom of the desktop, set to "hide immediately" after the mouse cursor leaves it (and to reappear when i touch the bottom). The position i set for the panel is bottom centered (100% length). The problem is that sometimes the panel disappears; if i move the mouse to any screen edge the panel does not appear. This happened as well on at least 6.06. Why this happens, i do no know; as far as i can tell it's random. The current workaround is Alt+F2 > kcontrol > desktop > panels. Like i said above, the panel is supposed to be centered, but when i enter "panels" it is marked as being at the bottom left corner. When i set it to the center and apply changes, everything starts working again. Also, as long as i change any setting and >APPLY<, the panel starts working again. ** Affects: meta-kde (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Hiding panel sometimes disappears. https://launchpad.net/bugs/74978 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 74975] No "undo" or "cancel" button on property dialogs
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ubuntu-desktop Summary: When editing the properites of an object, let it be in Nautilus, Rhythmbox, or any other Gnome application, there is no way to cancel the operation and revert to the original values. Sometimes this is not a problem, when there's only _one_ edited value and we remember the original value, but in general this causes a lot of trouble to new and experienced users. Most important it sets the burden on the user to undo any accidental damage or mistake. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open a Nautilus window. 2. Right click on a file and enter the properties dialog. 3. Change the file name to some stupid value. Wait one hour until you have forgotten the original value :-) 4. Close the window with either the Ctrl+W shortcut or Close button. What happens: The new wrong value is stored, independent on the way we close the window. What should happen: The dialog should offer the user a way to undo the change before closing the window. Even if the guideline is to apply instantly these changes, the changes should be reverted unless the user confirms them. Related bugs: The same problem appears in Rhythmbox when editing the properties of a song. [Bug 74968] Unable to write pid file
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pidentd What happens: I get the following error message in my logs: s_open("/var/run/identd/identd.pid", O_WRONLY): No such file or directory The directory /var/run/identd does not exist. If I create the directory and make sure it is owned by the identd user/group, then the error goes away until I reboot (at which point, the run directory seems to be cleaned up). What I expected: No error messages. Suggestions: If you change the pid path to something like /var/run/pidentd.pid, then this should probably work. I can verify the exact same behavior happens on my Acer TravelMate 4021WLMi. If I take out the AC power plug, the gnome-power-manager instantly complains that power level is critical and threatens to power off. Sometimes it doesn't.. it will mark the battery as 50% as soon as I disconnect the power plug (even if acpi displays the power at 98% or so.) Worked fine in Breezy until I upgraded to edgy.
