[Bug 75858] Re: regression: png to postscript -> black image

Can you do the following tests:

Try to print (convert to PostScript) the image from other programs
(GIMP, f-spot, gqview, ...) or directly to CUPS ("lpr -o scaling=100
"). Does the same problem occur?

Install GPL GhostScript ("sudo apt-get install gs-gpl", perhaps you will
need to activate universe in /etc/apt/sources.list) and do

gs-gpl -sDEVICE=x11

end also

gs-esp -sDEVICE=x11

When is the file correctly displayed? Try to display also your
dapper.ps.gz and edgy.ps.gz with both GhostScript versions.

[Bug 58721] Re: Edgy upgrade breaks multiple Matrox cards

2006-12-21 Thread clubsoda
Update: I have discovered that the flickering problems are associated
with the framebuffer. (Perhaps because my AGP 1x interface is too
slow?) The flickering is subtle but can easily be seen by clicking on
the "Quit" icon to exit Ubuntu while you still have a terminal window
open, or any other large black spaces on the screen. These will go
crazy colours and dance around a bit...

However, if I disable the framebuffer in both xorg.conf and /etc/modules
and try what Thomas did in his original post, i.e. replace "mga" with
"vesa", it works! Not only pristine 1280x1024 text but glxgears too.
(Ahem, please don't ask about the frame rate. :) One small issue: if I
go into Display Settings and change the resolution, X crashes.

Someone please reassure me that when the mga driver is working properly
I won't need the framebuffer.

[Bug 24828] Re: IPv6 should be disabled by default

2006-12-21 Thread Martin Tasker
> By that same token of advice, why not just disable IPv6 yourself?

I have done!

It took me eight hours of my own time, spread over several days, and the
involvement of five members of the Ubuntu community on the newbie forum,
to work out that I needed to do that.

I would have been seriously more impressed by Ubuntu if I hadn't had to
go through all that.

So at this point, I know that every time I do a new install of Linux
(Ubuntu or otherwise), the first thing a sensible person does is disable
IPv6, then get to work on customizing the desktop to taste etc etc.

What are my options now? (a) disappear safe with my knowledge but let
others keep suffering, (b) monitor the newbie forums and help everyone,
(c) get the devs to do something to fix the problem, (d) contribute a
fix the problem myself or (e) wait for the whole universe to get sorted
on IPv6?

I've chosen (c) because it's best for the community, best for me, and
the most I can actually do

[Bug 76652] Re: Error writing to KINO/MJPEG audio filter - aborting

2006-12-21 Thread Duncan Lithgow
I just expect that the needed packages are all in the same repository.
But that's not really anything I can influence. I'm changing the
description to something more useful.

** Summary changed:

- Error writing to KINO/MJPEG audio filter - aborting
+ Vague error: "Error writing to KINO/MJPEG audio filter - aborting"

** Description changed:

- Binary package hint: kino
-
  Ubuntu 7.04
  Kernel 2.6.20-2
  Kino 0.9.2

  All suggested and required packages installed without any errors.

  While this is also happening on my real files, here is how I reproduce
  it:

  In a new (NTFC or whatever it's called) project create 25 frames of
  plain black. If I now try to export this a plain mpeg1 file (the first
  option on the drop down menu in the mpeg section of 'Export') I get the
  error "Error writing to KINO/JMPEG audio filter - aborting.

- I found some old references to this which suggested installing
- mjpegtools, but that's not in the default repositories, if it's
- anywhere, I didn't hunt for it.
+ It would be more helpful if the error suggested a solution, or checked
+ for the presence of mjpegtools.

printing from firefox works (assuming firefox is using another printing

printing directly to CUPS ("lpr -o scaling=100 ") works also

so this bug is related to a specific ps/gs system used by gnome?

[Bug 56421] Re: ipw3945 doesn't reassociate after suspend

2006-12-21 Thread Duncan Lithgow
** Description changed:

  On my old laptop (ThinkPad T40p, ipw2100) if I had the following in
  /etc/network/interfaces then after a suspend/resume cycle the network
  card had re-associated with the AP and network was usable again:

  auto eth0
  iface eth0 inet dhcp
  name home
  wireless-essid Burton
  wireless-key [snip]

  However my new laptop (ThinkPad X60, ipw3945) with an identical
  configuration doesn't do this. After resume it's unassociated:

  $ iwconfig eth0
  eth0  unassociated  ESSID:off/any
Mode:Managed  Frequency=nan kHz  Access Point: Not-Associated
Bit Rate:0 kb/s   Tx-Power:16 dBm
Retry limit:15   RTS thr:off   Fragment thr:off
Power Management:off
Link Quality:0  Signal level:0  Noise level:0
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0  Invalid misc:0   Missed beacon:0

  sudo ifdown eth0 && sudo ifup eth0 brings the network back, but I'd
  prefer not to have to do this every time I resume.

+
  Note: the original reporter indicated the bug was in package 'linux-
  image-2.6.15-26-686'; however, that package was not published in Baltix.

[Bug 76705] cURL in PHP5, CURLOPT_HTTPHEADER problems

2006-12-21 Thread A-Wing
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: php5-curl

When using:

curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HTTPHEADER, $header);

$header should be an array such as:

$header = array();
$header[] = "Host: www.google.com";
$header[] = "MIME-Version: 1.0";
$header[] = "Accept: text/xml";

etc...

However it seems in Edgy only the first entity in the array is being read and
the rest of the array is ignored. I have fudged a workaround in my scripts by
doing:
$header = array("Host: www.google.com\nMIME-Version: 1.0\nAccept: text/xml

The best way to test this would be to send post data and force the
Content-Length header along with other headers (such as mime). When
doing this I get a 411 error (content-length not sent). However forcing
the content-length header as above (all in a single array element) works
fine.

This has been tested using php5-curl version 5.1.6-1ubuntu2 in Edgy on
several x86 based CPUs

gnome clock applet and going to Adjust Date & Time, when I click the
"keep clock syncronized with Internet Servers" option It gives me this
error: Could Not Apply Changes! Fix broken packages first. I ran sudo
apt-get -f install no packages were being reported broken.. I ran
dpkg --configure -a ... Same results. So I later asked in #ubuntu+1 on
freenode if anyone else was having this issue, and it was confirmed by
other users that the same results were happening with the NTP option. I
always hate posting these bug reports to find out that its something
wrong that I didn't research through enough, but I think this can be
considered a bug.. I hope that I gave enough info to reproduce this
error for all you other testers/developers!

Thanks

[Bug 75557] Re: instal python-uno broken: /usr/bin/pycentral::default_runtime.remove_byte_code() : 'NoneType' object

2006-12-21 Thread Kazade
OK i did a bit of debugging and I think the reason this error is
occuring is because the following if statement doesnt get entered:

if version == default_version:
default_runtime = rt

This is on line 218 of pycentral on my set up this is because version ==
'2.4' whereas default_version == '24'.

I hope that helps someone, sorry I dont have time to come up with a
proper bug fix.

Binary package hint: gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad

Trying to play streaming audio with:

gst-launch-0.10 playbin uri=mms://wmscr1.dr.dk/e02ch01m

assertion `GST_BUFFER_OFFSET (buf) == 0 || GST_BUFFER_OFFSET (buf) ==

Adding debug output (--gst-debug-level=5) tells:

gstmms.c(263):gst_mms_create: Returning buffer with offset -2048 and

The negative offset seems to be the reason. Looks like package libmms0
