[Bug 89140] File association settings are not found under System Settings
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kde-systemsettings The problem: File association settings are not found under System Settings -> KDE Components as they are in Control Center -> KDE Components. This is bad because: 1) These settings do not affect Konqueror only. (The settings are now found only there on a default Kubuntu installation.) 2) Kubuntu now doesn't install Control Center by default, but System Settings instead. 3) The current situation of these settings being accessible only under is clearly not intuitive enough, as instructions for changing file associations under Kubuntu have been asked several times during the last month on Kubuntu and Ubuntu IRC channels. 4) System Settings is a natural place for a user to look for settings that affect behavior of several programs. Proposed solutions: 1) Add File associations under System Settings -> KDE Components OR 2) reinstate Control Center as the default program for managing system wide settings under Kubuntu OR 3) Install both kde-systemsettings and kcontrol as a dependency of kubuntu-desktop. ** Affects: kde-systemsettings (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- File association settings are not found under System Settings https://launchpad.net/bugs/89140 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I have not had any problems until a few weeks ago. With the kernel update 2.6.17-11, the wireless stopped working. So I was selecting 2.6.17-10 on boot to get it to work. The email just reminded me of the earlier problem. So I just now blacklisted prism2_plx in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist. Now the wireless works with 1.6.17-11. I originally just saw the problem with the live CD. But I removed and reloaded kernel modules before I installed edgy to the hard drive. Then everything worked until 2.6.17-11. [Bug 89133] Re: Problem with blktap and LVM (device numbers)
Ok, I now tried patching the source myself, and failed, because the structure of the code seems different in our Xen, as well as the code already seems to do dynamic device number selection. [Bug 89133] Problem with blktap and LVM (device numbers)
Public bug reported: If the Xen in Feisty is used together with LVM, it fails because LVM starts before xend starts, and assigns 254 as a major device number. Then xend comes along and has a hardcoded major device number of 254 which of course clashes with the one of LVM, which then leads to xend not being able to start. The problem would be fixed by the following patch which has also been applied xen upstream: http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen- devel/2006-09/msg00867.html Please consider integrating this patch for Feisty as Xen won't work without it. Reproduceable on an AMD64 machine, not tested on i386. ** Affects: xen-source (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Problem with blktap and LVM (device numbers) https://launchpad.net/bugs/89133 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Can you do this from a terminal $ export BEAGLE_MONO_DEBUG_FLAG_IS_SET=1 $ beagled --replace --fg If beagle crashes within 5-10 minutes, paste the terminal output (last 100 lines or so) and attach it to a bug. If it doesnt, from another terminal do "beagle-shutdown" which will stop beagle.
