libxcb1 isn't actually "damaged", as indicated by
[http://people.debian.org/~terpstra/message/20061127.041128.8a08d75f.en.html].
It simply crashes now to indicate a double-lock or double-unlock in the
program.

In fact, this particular bug in drscheme has been fixed in upstream SVN
but I don't know when they're going to make a release incorporating the
fix.

[Bug 82711] Re: Feisty regression: wifi not working (rt2500, wg54t)

2007-03-05 Thread melaren
I have a Foxconn card that uses the rt2500 driver. In Dapper and Edgy I
was able to get the wireless working if I disabled my onboard NIC and
manually entered the wireless network name in Network Admin. I'm
currently trying Feisty Herd 5 and I have been unable to get the new
network manager to connect to any wireless networks (even though it sees
them). If I disable the onboard NIC and the roaming mode and select a
wireless network in Network Admin, I am able to connect. ...but the new
network manager icon says there is no network connection. Hopefully
this is the appropriate place for this post.

few different types of laptops, not just Sony VAIO's.

[Bug 32357] Re: Installer doesn't recognise SATA disks as primary.

2007-03-05 Thread David Overcash
I'm gonna bump this bug with pretty much the same problem.

I have a SATA and IDE drive. And although the SATA is defined as hd0
grub keeps reverting it back to hd1... I installed to hd0 though so it
should have recognized that.

I have a feeling this issue has to deal with converting the hda -> hd0
in the installer, rather than recognizing what the BIOS has labeled each
drive.

[Bug 64429] Re: xfce4-fsguard-plugin crashes when added to panel and then left-clicked

2007-03-05 Thread sponsoredbythewind
First time I use it, first time bugged.

Installed it again, but filled in "nautilus" in label "filemanager".
Now it doesn't crash but gives me a directory overview of my /home partition
when I click left.
(I filled in "/home" in label "mountpoint").

My question:

Is this a user-bug or a software-bug?

I just changed it's groupid to 900 and the install worked. The
original kvm install on an AMD X2 did not create the kvm group and
goggle'ing for issues I found a reference to this and added the group,
which of course got 1002. So when this upgrade happened it failed. It
was easy to work around, but I figured I should report it.

Ouch! I did not read carefully this bug, but you are likely to
hit bug #78255 with this wireless? network card, which cause
a oops, and after that, system can be unstable.

[Bug 90020] Kopete should not use a patched contact list by default

2007-03-05 Thread Tarek
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdenetwork

Feisty's Kopete appears to have a modified contact list (
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FeistyFawn/Herd4/Kubuntu#head-
4d575b0b04e320f919b389b2187bcabfae0f122f ), which is done via Kopete
reloading kits (
http://www.google.com/search?q=%22kopete+reloading+kit%22 ). These kits
are patches on the source.

Unfortunately for me, I am running a high-resolution screen (1600x1200),
and the avatars are now unusably small.

In addition, the colour scheme of the contact list is not comprehensible
to me, and amounts to a low-contrast scheme that makes managing my
contact list even more difficult.

This problem cannot be easily rectified, since it requires another
patched version to be compiled.

My proposed solution is reversion to the stock KDE Kopete theme, or
otherwise permit the user choice in the various themes.

[Bug 85259] Re: kde init hangs with 2.6.20 kernel

2007-03-05 Thread Brian Murray
One of your last comments "It is the combination of kde and 2.6.20 that
don't play well together" gave me the impression that it was not a
hardware issue. Please add the output of 'lspci -vv' and 'lspci -vvn'
to your bug report as attachments so we will know what type of graphics
card you have. To use the open source nv graphics driver you can just
replace the word "nvidia" with "nv" in your '/etc/X11/xorg.conf' file.
While not exactly what you are looking for this wiki page has some
information about converting to the binary "nvidia" so you would want to
do the opposite thing.

2007-03-05 Thread nick3092
Public bug reported:

I used to use the /dev/input/event interface for my Logitech MX
Revolution mouse (so all the buttons can be found/used) fine with Edgy.
I decided to give Feisty a try, and now when X starts, the mouse jumps
all over the screen, and eventually seems to lock up X. I can't even
switch over to a virtual terminal. it works fine when I point X to
/dev/input/mice. The receiver for the mouse is plugged into my G15
keyboard.

Re: [Bug 85259] Re: kde init hangs with 2.6.20 kernel

2007-03-05 Thread Tim Webster
Yup, kde and 2.6.20 kernel works fine on machines with other graphics
chips sets. Please see my orginal report. So I am not supprised that
you don't have any problems using kde with the 2.6.20 kernel on other
machines. Have you tested?
product: Satellite 3000
vendor: TOSHIBA
version: PS300L-02UKL

I am not currently in front of the laptop, I remember I had the
rtl8180 driver error for the working 2.6.19 kernels too. I will up
load the dmesag log and syslog from the working 2.6.19 kernel so you
can compare them.

I expect the problem is with the graphics chips driver. Can you point
me to a HOWTO use a opensource nv driver so that I can illimate the
binary graphics driver as the problem.

And I tried the 2.6.20.9 kernel a few days ago. No go.
