Dear Mark,
Here is the snapshot that you requested.
For your info, I'm running Unbuntu 6.10 with the
latest updates and during this test, I'm flooding the
network with Echo Requests using Nmap.

I thank you for your very quick reaction and
politeness.Don't hesitate to come with questions, I'm
ready to help you the best I can. Even if I'm pretty
new in the Linux world, I know about computers.

Re: [Bug 89660] Re: cursor control regression in vim

2007-03-09 Thread robinharvey
Hi Brian,

I tried these keystrokes on vt1, and they aren't bound to anything, either
on the command line or in Vim. One thing to note is that this behavior
works fine in the terminal (Gnome Terminal) itself; if you type a few words
in to the terminal and use these keystrokes, you'll notice that the cursor
moves one word per stroke. Maybe it's this behavior I was previously using?

Many thanks,
--Robin

Hi,

Firmware upgrade doesn't help always, like not in my case. I have upgraded
to the latest bios version A3 on latitude D420 and can confirm that the
problem hasn't disappeared by BIOS upgrade. It doesn't happen very often in
my use, but it has happened once, therefore the problem remains.

[Bug 90795] Unmount of remote CIFS shares fails with timeout on system shutdown

2007-03-09 Thread Christian D.
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

Unmount of remote CIFS mounts (mounted on sys. startup with auto in
/etc/fstab) fails with timeout on system shutdown. I suspect that this
is caused by the networking subsystem already deconfigured when the
remote filesystem unmount code runs.

I have this too, not only with users-admin, but with services-admin too.
In shares-admin it is even more obvious there goes something wrong,
because it complains I don't have NFS and/or SAMBA installed, which I
both have functioning well.

message below, followed by a perfectly looking users-admin screen, only
it's empty.

Can this be reopened? Currently everyone using Feisty (ntfsprogs

The fix is in the upstream release 1.13.1.1, or the Debian 1.13.1-6

[Bug 90796] [feisty] bluetooth keyboard/mouse does not work (logitech dinovo laser)

2007-03-09 Thread Gael Beaudoin
Public bug reported:

Starting with kubuntu feisty (herd5) my bluetooth keyboard/mouse doesn't
work anymore : each time I click/move hit a key or anything on the
bluetooth device, I have a popup telling me my device is not paired ...

It should work in normal mode (no BT), like it has always worked with previous
kubuntu releases.
Or at least propose to pair with my computer.

The good thing is that It's the first time the bluetooth dongle is
recognized by the kernel !

[Bug 85031] Re: [apport] apt-listchanges crashed with IOError in mail_changes()

2007-03-09 Thread Michael Vogt
This should have been fixed with 2.72ubuntu4. If it still fails for you,
can you please attach your /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/20listchanges config and
let me know if you have /usr/bin/sendmail (it uses this file to test if
it can mail or not) ?

Thanks,
 Michael

[Bug 64392] Re: Crash saving file

2007-03-09 Thread Frank Peelo
I got that several times last night. Also using 0.8-1. Firstly after
working on a Java assignment for about half an hour :( geany disappeared
as soon as I hit the "compile" button. Started geany up again, and it
complained that there was a problem with a pipe, so geany might be
running already and did I want to start anyway? So I did, and my work
had not been saved. Tried editing a few more times, saving each time,
and geany simply disappeared each time I hit ctrl-s or the save icon, or
file|save.

Upgraded to 0.10.2-0ubuntu1, following instructions on
http://gauvain.tuxfamily.org/repos/
and, thank God, it hasn't happened since.

[Bug 90795] Re: Unmount of remote CIFS shares fails with timeout on system shutdown

2007-03-09 Thread Christian D.
Some more infos:
My system is Kubuntu Feisty Fawn with all present updates. I'm using a static
network connection with dhcp (eth1) and I have an unused connection (on eth0).

excerpt of /etc/network/interfaces
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp

auto eth1
iface eth1 inet dhcp

KNetworkmanager reports the dhcp configured interface as "wired online"
(reverse translation from german) and the unused interface is greyed
out.

When I open the "Static connections" dialog I see eth0 with an avahi-ip
(169.-range) and eth1 with a valid IP adress (from the dhcp server)

That means everything is looking fine. Networking is all as it should be
with and without NetworkManager running. The only glitch I have with nm
is the umount problem on system shutdown.

[Bug 90801] moving desktop icons on kde

2007-03-09 Thread Eric
Public bug reported:

Using kubuntu 6.10 and kde 3.5.6.
Desktop resolution is 1280x1024.

Description :

I have 5 icons on my desktop : /, dvd drive, dvd writer, home, stuff (in that
order).
They are located on the left side of the screen, centered vertically.
Icons options (right click on desktop, icons) :
- Align to grid : checked
- Lock in place : checked

After I restart the computer, icons won't be at the same place the next
time I get on the desktop. One or more icons will go up. It seems that
the 'lock in place' option does not work it should. Notice that I can't
move icons on the desktop with that option on however it doesn't prevent
icons to move away after a restart.

If I don't put them back in place they will keep going up with each
reboot. Once at the top, right under my top panel, they'll start then to
go right.

I've seen that bug on the whole 3.5 kde serie (3.5.0, 3.5.1, 3.5.2,
3.5.3, 3.5.4, 3.5.5, 3.5.6).

Screenshots :

[Bug 88232] Re: Package description is very out of date

2007-03-09 Thread Cesare Tirabassi
I have taken the liberty to modify the control and changelog files
myself. This was mostly an exercise to make me familiar with the
packaging system.

I changed the short description and long description in 'control' as
follows:

short description

The award-winning Web browser from Mozilla

long description

Firefox 2 is now faster, more secure, and fully customizable.
New powerful features have been added, among others:
Web feeds, in line spell checking, integrated search capabilities,
identity theft protection, and advanced tabbed browsing.

The 'changelog' was changed with the following addition (using dch -i):

firefox (2.0.0.2+1-0ubuntu2) feisty; urgency=low

  * package description updated (Closes: LP#88232)

 -- Cesare Tirabassi <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Fri, 9 Mar 2007 09:08:04+0100

I then rebuild the source package and checked that the executable build
is ok.

I attach the diff to this comment.
