[Bug 80248] Re: e2fsprogs initscripts volumeid Update Issue
I have the same problem as well. I have 6.10 installed on three boxes. But I observed the same problem on 2 of my boxes (Ubuntu and Xubuntu) which use the "generic" kernel. The third box (Ubuntu) has the "386" kernel (I have removed the default generic kernel and installed this one) but doesn't have this problem. I don't know whether this kernel issue is a coincidence, but this is what happened. -- e2fsprogs initscripts volumeid Update Issue https://launchpad.net/bugs/80248 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 91319] [Feisty] hplip GUI doesn't work without python-qt3
Public bug reported: I'm running Feisty from the repositories. Note: I tried to file this bug against hplip, but it said "HP Linux Imaging and Printing does not use Malone as its bug tracker." so I'm leaving it blank. This is not really a bug of the program though, its a bug of the DEB package. Trying to run System -> Preferences -> HPLIP Toolbox fails. The launcher command is "/usr/bin/hp-toolbox" Running that from the command line gives: --- $ /usr/bin/hp-toolbox error: PyQt not installed. GUI not available. Exiting. error: PyQt/Qt initialization error. Please check install of PyQt/Qt and try again. --- This is because python-qt3 is not installed by default in Feisty as it is (as per Synaptic) only Recommended (and oddly, also Suggested) by the hplip package. Please change the hplip DEB so that it "Depends" on python-qt3 as installing that makes it work: --- ~$ /usr/bin/hp-toolbox HP Linux Imaging and Printing System (ver. 1.7.1) HP Device Manager ver. 7.0 Copyright (c) 2003-6 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, LP This software comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY. I have Edgy & Amarok 1.4.5 and I haven't noticed skipping of tracks any more. I don't have crossover enabled but could try if that matters. [Bug 67572] Re: Narrowing down time zone location is horridly slow when under vesa driver
I have an old Sony Vaio - PCG-XG19, with a neomagic graphics card. I was installing Kubuntu Herd 5 which I downloaded today. When I tried the install, I never even saw the map. Some of the previous page was still on the display, and there were the dots representing cities, and the tooltip rectangles would display when I'd mouse over cities, but never disappear. I don't think I gave it 30 seconds before I went on (the city displayed was correct anyway), though given how old this machine is it probably would have taken longer. -- Narrowing down time zone location is horridly slow when under vesa driver https://launchpad.net/bugs/67572 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 85979] Re: Wrong nice value while upgrading debconf
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 68267 *** I too see this bug. There were about 390 packages to upgrade today, and they all downloaded. When it started up, it gave me the "nice" popup. Below is a version of what was displayed in the main window - that is, not the popup. (Actually it was from a later crash.) The first package to fail was bash. I went to a command line and did sudo apt-get update and it told me to do a sudo apt-get --configure -a which I dutifully did. Then I re-ran adept-updater and it got further, but when it reached x11-common it had similar problems. This I fixed again with the apt-get --configure -a , but adept-updater still wouldn't work. So this time I just finished the upgrade on the command line sudo apt-get upgrade and it went fine. Afterwards, there was no further packages shown by adept-updater. I had noticed that adept was one of the packages that had been reinstalled, and I used adept to install firefox. It worked, but I still saw the "DESTROY created..." message below.
