[Bug 94313] Re: Mount incorrectly mounts partitions

2007-03-20 Thread cenora
Check this:

The USB250GB_ is the NTFS partition, while the USB250GB is the WindowsXP
partition (wrong!):

When I open the USB250GB drive on the desktop, it opens the USB250GB_
drive (correct NTFS partition).

[Bug 94313] Mount incorrectly mounts partitions

2007-03-20 Thread cenora
Public bug reported:

The system is mounting drives wrongly:

I have a laptop with the following partitions:
1) External HD (sdb1) NTFS
2) External HD (sdb2) where Ubuntu is installed (ext2)
3) Internal HD (hda1) with WindowsXP
4) Internal HD (hda2) with WindowsVista
5) Internal HD (hda3) with Gentoo

Ubuntu confuses the XP and sdb1 (USB250GB) drives, and assigns a
"USB250GB_" to the NTFS partition and "USB250GB" to WindowsXP.

Here is the output of the commands:

[Bug 94312] UVFe - klamav is broken with current clamav.

2007-03-20 Thread Sarah Hobbs
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: klamav

Clamav is now at version 0.9. There are a whole lot of packages that
need updating for this, including klamav.

The current klamav breaks repeatedly, and is non-functional.

It closes almost all other bugs for klamav (except the one about >0.48
being in edgy)

[Bug 94309] easy_install defaults to /usr/bin/python2.4, but doesn't Depend: on python2.4

2007-03-20 Thread Andrew Straw
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: python-setuptools

In python-setuptools 0.6c5-1 (on feisty), the first line of
/usr/bin/easy_install references /usr/bin/python2.4. However, a minimal
install of feisty does not include python 2.4 and python-setuptools does
not depend on python2.4.

[Bug 94310] Cannot save file when kate is opened for the first time.

2007-03-20 Thread erzhong
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kate

When I open kate first time, and try to save the new file to a directory
that is different from the initial directory, I cannot enter the file
name in the savefile dialog. I type the file name, but nothing appears
in the dialogo. I have to creat an empty file in the desired directory
and then overwrite the empty file. If I open kate first time, save the
file to the initial directory, it works fine.

I am using Kubuntu 6.10.

Confirming this problem too; I tried both the newest BIOS as well as the
previous one; on the previous BIOS it halted while initializing PCI
resources . On the current one, it scrolls too fast for me to read.

With acpi=off, the kernel faults while trying to load sound, which
explains the no sound problem; you can see the fault in the dmesg
posted.

[Bug 94304] Dial-up modem in Network-Admin not functional in Feisty

2007-03-20 Thread Michael Losonsky
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools

Running Feisty i386 (March 19 build) live. The Dial-up modem
configuration in System->Administration->Network still does not work. I
say "still" because this is a problem in the Edgy I have installed and
it was recognized as a bug to be fixed in the next edition. But
apparently it is still in Feisty.

The modem is not enabled, it does not connect and instead it resets the
network connection. Except for the box to enable modem, there is
nothing for trying to activate the modem. Adding the modem applet does
not help. Also, after closing and reopening, all the Properties are
still there except that Tone is changed back to Pulse (as was the case
in Edgy).

This is not a modem issue. Wvdial recognizes the modem and I can dial
out that way.

[Bug 90883] Re: Cannot turn off wireless

2007-03-20 Thread Paul Sladen
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 89763 ***

** Changed in: ipw2100 (Ubuntu)
   Status: Confirmed => Rejected

** Changed in: linux-source-2.6.20 (Ubuntu)
Sourcepackagename: linux-source-2.6.20 => acpi-support

** Summary changed:

- Cannot turn off wireless
+ wireless.sh cannot use 'device/power/state' to power-off wireless card anymore

** Description changed:

-
I'm having troubles turning off the wireless adapter.
  I have a Thinkpad T42 with ipw2100 wifi.
Normally pressing Fn-F5 toggles wireless on/off, but it doesn't work.

  Tried doing this in terminal.

  ~$ sudo /etc/acpi/wireless.sh
/etc/acpi/wireless.sh: line 9: echo: write error: Invalid argument
  0

  Which is this line:

  echo -n 2 > /sys/class/net/eth1/device/power/state;

Why is this not writeable, not even as root ?
This was never a problem until now.

** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 89763
Changes in sysfs power/state handling has broken 'ibm-wireless.sh'

[Bug 92014] Re: Feisty partitioner sees EIDE drives as SCSI's

2007-03-20 Thread funkadelic
I have had this problem with nearly every feisty install I have done --
most recently the daily build from 3-19...

A few times this has not been the case, but I can't find a pattern.

This does not seem to cause any problems, but if I can help fix this,
let me know.

Actually, lately on Feisty, I have been able to blacklist modules
using entries in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist so, I think this has been
fixed.

Re: [Bug 77369] Re: zip drive fails to mount

2007-03-20 Thread Troy Hepfner
That doesn't make sense. Other distros that I routinely install, like
SUSE 10, detect the zip drive without any problem. (And its the exact
same computer - I'm using a computer that has a swappable hard drive,
and I'm always switching between hard drives with different OS's
installed on them.) Because other OS's, including Windows and other
Linux distros, detect and use the zip drive fine, I know the zip drive
is seated properly on the motherboard.

Are you saying I need to have a zip disk in the zip drive during
installation?

[Bug 93775] Re: feisty installer fails (stops)

2007-03-20 Thread Colin Watson
Brian, bugs in the alternate installer do not belong on ubiquity, and it
won't help to use the ubiquity bug page to ask for information about
them.

It looks like pkgsel is hanging on running 'apt-get update' - maybe
trying to fetch files from the network? Perhaps we should arrange to
time that out somehow, or avoid it altogether if possible.

[Bug 93881] Re: Crash during installation and during crash report

2007-03-20 Thread Colin Watson
If you still have partitioning problems, could you please run the
installer with 'ubiquity --debug' from a terminal window and attach
/var/log/installer/debug, /var/log/syslog, and /var/log/partman to this
bug, following the directions in
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingUbiquity/AttachingLogs? Thanks in
advance.
