It may also be helpful to include the output of

and to try and whittle down which combination of
options nvidia NVreg_SoftEDIDs=0 NVreg_Mobile=2
Option "RenderAccel" "true" Option "NvAGP" "3" Option "UseEdidFreqs" "true"

[Bug 107263] Re: python shell translation into Finnish has " causing syntax error

2007-04-17 Thread Timo Jyrinki
Hmm, it seems properly escaped: msgstr "Pääset käsiksi pääikkunaan
\"shell\"-muuttujan kautta :"
I guess Python still doesn't like it, then. Normally ' is not used in Finnish,
but I changed it now to "Pääset käsiksi pääikkunaan 'shell'-muuttujan kautta
:", and will contact the upstream translator too. Using that translation seems
to fix the error message.

Will be included in the next language pack updates.

For informations i'v tried this to see if i can reproduce the bug on root
account.
added password for root
allow him to login under gdm
open root gnome session.
Plug an external USB DD
Eject it by right click-> bug occur ! but not with "umount /dev/sda1" comand.

So i think that there is a possible work around to find in gnome-mount
package...

[Bug 106434] Re: 2.6.20-15-generic breaks X when using NVIDIA-glx drivers

2007-04-17 Thread daimoni
Hm, I installed -15 versio of lowlatency kernel and Nvidia drivers work
again (and modules load).

Could it be that my installation just has some conflicting files with
-generic kernel, though I have uninstalled nvidia-glx with --purge?

Still, with -generic both vanilla and ubuntu's nvidia kernel driver
fails to load, manual modprobe nvidia gives same install error.

-lowlatency kernel doesn't have paravirtualization enabled, wild guess
why that one works?

[Bug 107410] mac address change problem on b44

2007-04-17 Thread ricardo
Public bug reported:

i change my mac address in the debian way, editing
/etc/network/interfaces

hwaddress ether xx:xx:...

after updating to the new kubuntu edgy it doesn't work anymore, when i
try to change it manualy with ifconfig command it said that the device
was busy, i compiled my own kernel to see if it was a b44.o module
problem and the same happened i edited b44.c file and found this:

if (netif_running(dev))
return -EBUSY;

so i fixed my problem by adding this to my interfaces file:

pre-up ifconfig eth0 hw ether xx:xx...

but this is not supposed to be the way to do it and i don't know if
it's a network module bug or a ifup script bug.

[Bug 107407] Re: Dragging a link around a Konqueror window leaves behind cursor artifacts

2007-04-17 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas

** Attachment added: "screenshot"
   http://librarian.launchpad.net/7342260/whee.jpg

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: konqueror

  Konqueror 3.5.6, Ubuntu Feisty
  1. Open a Web page that has a link on it.
- 2. Drag the link around the Konqueror.
+ 2. Drag the link around the Konqueror window.

Many copies of the blue page emblem (indicating that you're dragging a
link) are left behind on the page.

This seems to be a Konqueror problem, rather than an Xorg problem, because:
  * it happens only in the Konqueror window (dragging outside the window
results in no further artifacts)
  * it doesn't happen for Epiphany or Firefox.

[Bug 107355] Re: [FEISTY] firefox crashed [@ js_LineNumberToPC] [@ jsd_GetClosestPC]

2007-04-17 Thread Hilario J. Montoliu \(hjmf\)
daniel, can you try to define a test case for this crash (aka a step by
step guide so we can force this same crash here). It will be interesting
that if you do so you try either withthe extensions you have enabled
and w/o them (e.g. running in safe mode, calling firefox with flag
-safe-mode).

I'm not sure if
/home/daniel/.mozilla/firefox/4cz7eaqf.default/extensions/{3b56bcc7-54e5-44a2-9b44-66c3ef58c13e}/components/libnstidy.so
belongs to firebug.

Thank you in advance.

[Bug 107406] Spanish OpenOffice icons

2007-04-17 Thread carutsu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

In the spanish OOo the bold, italick and underlined shortcuts are
diferent than those in english hence the icons are diferent, while in
english is ok for KDE to keep the |B|I|U| in the spanish traslation it
should say |N|K|S|, it's really weird that if you press ctrl+B +I +U it
does another thing very different than what's expected.

Unmount seem's to works fine. The problem seems to be that hal, just after
unmounting USB DD, detect the DD USB and so remount it.
Is it right ?

[Bug 107180] Re: Segmentation Fault

2007-04-17 Thread Jeff Bailey
>From the susv3 manual:

char *strtok(char *restrict s1, const char *restrict s2);

The first call in the sequence searches the string pointed to by s1 for
the first byte that is not contained in the current separator string
pointed to by s2. If no such byte is found, then there are no tokens in
the string pointed to by s1 and strtok() shall return a null pointer. If
such a byte is found, it is the start of the first token.

The correct output from glibc is NULL.

[Bug 107404] Workstation lockup using rdp/vnc client

2007-04-17 Thread Peter
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-rdp

RDP/VNC appear to function normally and will show no signs of any problem
during shors sessions.
However if the session is open for more that 10 minutes or so then ubuntu will
not respond to any input.
The mouse pointer can be moved over the screen within the client and the
desktop but no input from the mouse buttons
or the keyboard will have any response.

The only way I have found to proceed is reset the workstatin with a
hardware reset and reboot.

The session can then be accessed again for a time, however if left open
it will display the same symptoms.

Using ubuntu 606 with all of the updates installed.
Using the Gnome desktop.
Running on a whitebox Intel P4 3000 with 1gb Ram and ATA disk.

How can I enable it to write the output in a file? becouse it's so long,

does not work (no content in the file log)

But I think that no extra console ouputs were to see while getting the
error. But anyway here the last lines:

[Bug 107403] fileshareset does not start the correct nfs server init script, patch provided

2007-04-17 Thread dystopianray
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdebase

fileshareset which is part of kdebase (I think) and is used to allow kde
users to easily share directories over nfs and samba does not start the
correct nfs init script.

The script tries to start /etc/init.d/nfs when it should be starting
/etc/init.d/nfs-kernel-server.

I have provided a patch which corrects this behaviour and makes
fileshareset start either the nfs or nfs-kernel-server init script
depending on which one exists.

[Bug 1225] Re: Glom: missing dependency - PostgreSQL

2007-04-17 Thread Ralf Nieuwenhuijsen
Wouldn't everybody be best served by a meta-package?

 glom-desktop depends on glom-client and postgre-sql
 glom-client doesn't depend on postgre-sql

This way the choice is obvious, glom-desktop for those who just want to
use it on their machiene and glom-client for those that only want to
access an external server.

2007-04-17 Thread sparc128
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 63090 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/63090

I can confirm that this can be fixed by applying workaround suggested in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/99538...

which is :

Can you guys please temporarily move away
/usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor/10-storage-policy.fdi, then reboot
and check if it works then? If so, then bug 63090 would be the root
cause.

[Bug 107401] ICH7 drvers break on updates

2007-04-17 Thread Jesse
Public bug reported:

00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High
Definition Audio Controller (rev 02)

works before updates, installed from cd (7.04 Feisty) but breaks after
initial batch of updates are run. It remains broken on both kernels
after patching. I have switched between alsa and oss after the update
to try to find if settings for either produce any sound whatsoever, but
have only negative results to report. I have tried all volume settings
in the gui GNOME ALSA Mixer and the cli alsamixer. These results are
not definite, nor is the forum thread complete, but I hope to give at
least some specific information to help narrow down the cause of the
problem.

If it's possible to gain any more information from me, feel free to contact me
via email.

[Bug 107400] no effect after installation

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus-open-terminal

I installed the package, nothing is showing up. I tried restarting the

Sorry, I'm really not sure where to even start debugging this. All I
know is that the package is installed, and my right-click menu in

Any suggestions?

[Bug 107399] Laptop screen turns on with lid closed when mouse is moved in feisty

2007-04-17 Thread dystopianray
Public bug reported:

When the lid is closed on my laptop and the usb mouse connected to it is
moved the screen will turn on, this is despite the laptop lid being
closed.

The laptop is an inspiron 6000 with i915 intel graphics.

Previous releases did not turn the screen back on when the lid was
opened or the mouse was moved, requiring the use of an additional acpi
script to get the screen to turn on again when the lid was opened. This
new behaviour is good but the screen should only be turned on when the
lid is open.

Binary package hint: xorg

When installing Feisty on my machine I found that it detects the display

It may not be related to the bug, but this setting is incorrect. The
correct setting for XMODIFIERS is @im=SCIM, uppercase. However with
GTK_IM_MODULE set to scim, this environment variable shouldn't have any
effect.

Would you please set GTK_IM_MODULE to xim and test again? Thanks.

[Bug 16414] Re: All themes fail to indicate mousedown on scrollbar thumbs and sliders

2007-04-17 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
No, a mouseover effect is pretty useless for telling whether I'm
clicking on a control, because it has so many false positives -- when
the cursor is passing over the control on the way to something else.

It's quite backward for a control to give me feedback when I'm not
touching it (mouseover), but not to give me feedback when I am touching
it (mousedown).

[Bug 107391] scim-anthy does not work and make any application which uses it hang

2007-04-17 Thread David Cournapeau
Public bug reported:

I've just upgraded a machine from edgy to feisty, and I have problems with the
input system, which worked perfectly before. My system is the following:
- I am using scim as the input system
- GTK_IM_MODULE is set to scim
- XMODIFIERS set to @im=scim
- scim -d is launched by the session manager.

The problem is that whenever I try to input Japanese using scim-anty,
all GUI hangs when I want to convert from kana to Kanji. For example,
let's say I want to input 日本: after inputing にほん, pressing the space to
convert to 日本 make the application unresponsive. In some cases, the GUI
comes back after some time, but it often crashes other applications (the
gnome terminal is one such example). I could reproduce this behaviour on
my laptop, which also run on feisty.

install postgresql-8.2 locally also".

You have two options:
1.- Modify the description to state that glom installation features the full
postgresql server (and I look for a different client to use with my network
server because I'm using glom now for a tpv alike environment and don't want a
server on each thin client that hardly can run the client).
2.- Modify the package dependencies to not install postgresql (that seems to
be the opposed of what everybody want so I doubt that you are going to do this).

[Bug 72468] Re: Trash looks empty, isn't

2007-04-17 Thread Júlio Alexandrino
Using Feisty RC 20070415 here, with Beryl.

I dont know if this happened when I changed window managers from Beryl
to metacity and vice versa, but Im looking now at an empty recycle bin
in the right corner of my screen that contains 12 files that were
previously in my Desktop before I deleted them. BTW, when I hover the
mouse pointer over the trash bin, a popup message reads "No items in
Trash". When I right click it, the option to empty the recycle bin
greyed out too.

So, I can confirm this bug.
