[Bug 44993] Re: [Feisty] OpenOffice Right-to-Left and Left-to-Right buttons disappear just after being added

2007-04-19 Thread Ali AbdulAziz
I think it is a bug because when you enable CTL they will appear
just fine but when you want them to "disappear" tthe refuse to do so. It
will be the oposite of this bugFirst we couldn't add them...then we
couldn't remove them.

Hope for a fix soon.

[Bug 89853] Re: [regression] 7.2 broke vesa: "No matching modes found"

2007-04-19 Thread thayerw
>From my understanding it's possible to get this working with the
Alternate CD, but is there any way at all to get a Live CD booted? I do
a lot of testing with the Live desktops and it would be a godsend if I
could find a way to boot into it. Is there a way to boot without the
GUI using the Live CD? Just so I can get access to the network and/or

[Bug 107847] Re: [feisty amd64] nvidia binary driver causes failure of X to start owing to failure to load kernel module

2007-04-19 Thread Sitsofe Wheeler
Thank you for your bug report. You certainly did your homework before
filing it!

The dmesg.txt shows that nvidia kernel module is not being loaded. You
have the right package for a Geforce 6000 though (nvidia-glx-new).

Eduard:
I beinterested in seeing the output of
ls -al /lib/linux-restricted-modules/
BEFORE you reconfigure things using restricted-manager. You can use
restricted-manager by going to System -> Administration -> Restricted Drivers
Manager. I am guessing that the at the error in Xorg.0.log should change...

[Bug 89853] Re: [regression] 7.2 broke vesa: "No matching modes found"

2007-04-19 Thread Timo Aaltonen
Please, no need to confirm this anymore, we know it's broken and are
trying to find the cure.

The bug is not in the driver, since Herd5 didn't have that. I've now put
new xserver-xorg-core which has debugging symbols in it. so no need to
install a -dbg too, so go grab these and get a backtrace:

http://users.tkk.fi/~tjaalton/dpkg/xserver-xorg-core_1.2.0-3ubuntu7.4_i386.deb
http://users.tkk.fi/~tjaalton/dpkg/xserver-xorg-video-vesa_1.3.0-1ubuntu4.1_i386.deb

[Bug 107909] Re: Files corrupt in ubuntu-7.04-dvd-i386.iso

2007-04-19 Thread Fabio Massimo Di Nitto
i downloaded the dvd iso here and:

1) md5sum matches
2) mounting the image via loop device (mount -o loop /path/to/image
/mountpoint) does not show the problem
3) running the dvd integrity check does not show any issue

Please confirm the last 2 steps locally with your downloaded and burned images.
It looks to me that while the image you downloaded is ok, the final burn on dvd
was not.

[Bug 107869] Re: 'Enable desktop effects' button kills X config (intel driver on Dell Latitude D505)

2007-04-19 Thread Gary W.
I think hitting that button changes the Xorg configuration file at
/etc/X11/xorg.conf
Possibly breaking something in there.
You could give this a try. It worked for me when I encountered the same
problem. Open a terminal and type
sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
It'll give you some dialog about xorg related stuff, you might be able to
fiddle with it to reconfigure the settings to get X back. Or you could mess
about with the configuration file itself and see if that helps.

[Bug 107917] wireless will not connect to AP which has broadcast connection disabled.

2007-04-19 Thread Mike Taylor
Public bug reported:

New Feisty upgrade from Edgy. Linksys WUSB11 v2.6 would not connect to
my AP which had broadcast connection disabled, but would connect to
other open APs. Enabled broadcast connection and it worked fine, but
this was not necessary before with Edgy.

Also device does not show in hardware information (did in Edgy) although
it does work with above limitation. Network manager says manual
configuration.

Note AP is open with WEP disabled. (Yeah, I know).

[Bug 59595] Re: Edgy: MacBook Pro: X is unusably distorted

2007-04-19 Thread Evan McNulty
Macbook pro video

works with fglrx
not supported by ati driver (open source/reverse engineer)
not supported by vesa driver (support broken in feisty release
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/89853 )

Which means we cannot verify if this is fixed or not in feisty due to
the other bug, I think

[Bug 107651] Re: timezone selection differs alternate vs gaphical install

2007-04-19 Thread ikesterhaney
Just wanted to put a few things out here.

The basic issue with the Ubiquity system is that many cities are not listed.
For instance, I live in Houston, TX which is a pretty big city, yet it is not
an option.
In fact, there are very few cities listed in the middle of the US on the map.
I can think of two possible solution.
   1. Add more cities
   2. Put the timezone dividers on the map
Other things that may help would be to allow a zoom-in on the map.
it is a little hard to tell where you are clicking.

Obviously, putting the EST, CST, MST and PST would help.

Thank you for accepting the bug,
   Ian

[Bug 78204] Re: Firefox cant cope with default browser setting

2007-04-19 Thread amadeov
I am using Ubuntu Edgy Eft 6.10 and have this EXACT SAME PROBLEM. I
cannot do anything to make Firefox not ask me if it is my default
browser each time (besides unchecking the box for that behavior). I
have tried the "sudo update-alternatives --config x-www-browser"
suggestion and the terminal informs me that it is the only program that
provides web browsing. When I go to System --> Preferences -->
Preferred Applications, the following is listed in the box for "Command"
under "Web Browser": " /usr/lib/firefox-2.0/firefox "%s" ". When I
change that to firefox "%s", it changes it back when I reload my browser
and tell it that yes, indeed, it is the default browser, AGAIN.

Any ideas?

[Bug 105420] Re: both iwlwifi and ipw3945 are unable to turn off rf_kill

2007-04-19 Thread Rich Wales
I think I'm seeing this same problem on a Toshiba Satellite A205-S4577,
running the just-released Feisty.

The Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG in this laptop is detected during boot,
but I get the "Radio Frequence Kill Switch is On" message, and the
wireless interface is NOT shown in "ifconfig -a".

Wireless appears to be turned on/off via a hotkey (Function-F8), but
this has no effect in Feisty.

[Bug 103173] Re: [totem-xine] DVD will not play

2007-04-19 Thread Andres Mejia
I did a fresh install of Kubuntu Feisty and found that there were only
three packages not installed by default that needed to be installed in
order to get DVDs to play. Since Kubuntu mainly uses xine based media
players, this should relate to this bug.

The three packages are libdvdread3, libxine1-ffmpeg, and libdvdcss2.
libdvdcss2 is not in the Ubuntu repository so it has to be acquired
elsewhere. If you don't intend to play encrypted DVDs, you don't need to
install libdvdcss2. Additionally, libxine1-ffmpeg requires libmad0 so it
will install libmad0 automatically.

[Bug 107909] Files corrupt in ubuntu-7.04-dvd-i386.iso

2007-04-19 Thread xcxcx112
Public bug reported:

I found out that 9 Files in the Final release of ubuntu-7.04-dvd-i386.iso are
corrupt. The image ISO itself matchs the MD5-hash:
ca609edf086eea0c821ba34a5c0a709d *ubuntu-7.04-dvd-i386.iso

but the content (9 files) does not match. The most of their file names have
been shorten off at the ending. For example:
/pool/restricted/l/linux-restricted-modules-2.6.20/nic-restricted-modules-2.6.20-15-generic-di_2.6.20.5-15.20_i386
 -> correct should be .udeb
/pool/restricted/l/linux-restricted-modules-2.6.20/linux-restricted-modules-2.6.20-15-generic_2.6.20.5-15.20_i386.d
 -> correct should be .deb
/pool/restricted/l/linux-restricted-modules-2.6.20/nic-restricted-firmware-2.6.20-15-386-di_2.6.20.5-15.20_i386.ude
 -> correct should be .udeb
etc...

So the image needs to re-build again before releasing to the public.
The problwm has been reported here with screenshots:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=414283

http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/feisty/release/ubuntu-7.04-dvd-i386.iso

[Bug 102068] Re: Upgrade to feisty broke Kaffeine DVD playback

After doing a fresh install of Kubuntu Feisty, I checked to see which
exact packages would be needed to make DVD playback work. There are
three packages that are not installed by default that need to be
installed before DVD playback will work (actually two in case you're
just playing unencrypted DVDs). They are libdvdread3, libxine1-ffmpeg,
and libdvdcss2. libdvdcss2 will have to be acquired elsewhere as it is
not in the Ubuntu repository. If you don't intend to play encrypted DVDs
ever, you don't have to install libdvdcss2. Additionally,
libxine1-ffmpeg requires libmad0 and will install libmad0 automatically.

[Bug 107908] Can't configure mount point while installing from disk

2007-04-19 Thread randomwalker
Public bug reported:

This is a bug in the installer.

The way I typically install is to mount the iso, copy the contents to a
partition (say /mnt/installer) and edit grub to boot
/mnt/installer/vmlinuz or whatever. Apart from the following bug, this
works flawlessly and is faster than messing with optical media.

It seems that the installer tries to set up the partition as a mount
point but this fails because it is already mounted. The only way to
continue with the installation is to select "dontuse" for the
appropriate partition.

Guys, this is a completely intractable problem. Some people don't want

identical hardware" unless the installer is extended. The installer is
not my charge.
