For me, sometimes it works (several times in a row) and then it does not work anymore. I did not figure out quite what exactly is different from case to case. This should just be mentioned to emphasise that yes, it could be some software component used by KDE and/or Gnome but not by Xfce that makes shutdown behave so badly. -- Power down after shutdown does not work... https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/43961 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 115210] [gutsy] Problems with xserver-xorg-video-i810
Public bug reported: The package xserver-xorg-video-i810 doesn't appear on gutsy repositories, but xserver-xorg-video-intel appear. I thought that I had to change it, but xserver not run. I reconfigured xserver-xorg (dpkg- reconfigure xserver-xorg) to change the driver (i810 - intel) but xserver not run either. I tried install xserver-xorg-video-i810 and I reconfigured xserver (intel - i810) but xserver is blocked and it doesn't respond when pulse Ctrl+Alt+Fx. ok wait, there are 2 indexing processes. the first indexes applications (and it lasts in few minutes) and the second indexes documentation (that one is very long) I'm attaching the application indexing log, as I think that it is enough to understand the bug -- beagle-build-index uses 100% of cpu when started from cron.daily https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/89487 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 89487] Re: beagle-build-index uses 100% of cpu when started from cron.daily
the cpu is always used at 100%, no matter which file is indexed. since the index operation will always last more than 20 minutes I think that the index is completely rebuildt every time. [Bug 115152] Re: Sooperlooper segfaults when launched from slgui
Addressing your comments in reverse order: the -U option is used to connect the sooperlooper engine to an extant slgui session for OSC control. I'm not sure why it's undocumented, and it probably shouldn't segfault when it fails, but that's somewhat expected behaviour (although still a bug). [Bug 85488] Re: some usb_devices fault if usb_suspend enabled
I moved my scanner (Epson 2580) to an older machine without proprietary graphics and installed Fishor's kernel. Now the scanner is detected but there are other issues apparently related to SANE. I'm still looking into it as time permits. On Edgy, this all just worked. I am appalled at the silence and apparent indifference from Ubuntu maintainers. If there is a strategy for fixing this, how about sharing it with us? I've been using Linux on my desktop since the early 2.2 kernels. This should tell you that I've done my share of tinkering to get things to work over the years, but that was then. Now I don't have the time or the inclination to mess around. A polished distro like Ubuntu should spare me that trouble, not break major functionality from one version to the next. [Bug 89487] Re: beagle-build-index uses 100% of cpu when started from cron.daily
Actually, I would rather see the documentation one. The application is working ok. The reason you see files being repeated is, build-index does not have any filter (parser) for screensaver desktop files, so when the indexer gets such a file it says Error: Could not filter file: No desktop entry and moves on to the next file. On the next run, beagle retries to index this file (since you might have installed a new filter for screensaver desktop files in the meantime) and again fails. This goes on in every run. The index doesn't change - the crawler anyway has to crawl all files, so nobody loses. And its also fast. The documentation one might reveal if some document is taking long time to index or being actually re-parsed over and over again. -- beagle-build-index uses 100% of cpu when started from cron.daily https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/89487 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 115216] How to limit the number of episodes from each Podcast feed?
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox I am trying to maintain a set number of episodes from each of my Podcast feeds, but don't know how to do this with Rhythmbox. E.g. Let's say that I want to keep only the latest 10 episodes of the LinuxQuestions podcast. How do I make this change? Ability to keep just the latest X number of podcasts would greatly improve podcast management features of Rhythmbox. Right now, I can download unlimited podcast episodes, but then I have to manually go through them to remove those that I already heard from my iPod and add just the new ones from the most recently downloaded list. [Bug 115220] feisty fresh install fails to setup 1440x900 nvidia
Public bug reported: this is a fresh install of feisty i'm a long time ubuntu user the default was some squarish resolution but i have a 1440x900 monitor the bug is that option wasn't in the list under System-Preferences-Screen Resolution I did: sudo vi /etc/X11/xorg.conf There are a whole bunch of entries with a 1440x1440 option! This is bad! Such as: SubSection Display Depth 24 Modes 1440x1440 1280x1024 1024x768 832x624 800x600 720x400 640x480 EndSubSection I simply changed the second 1440 to 900, rebooted, and then I could change the option in the preferences. Ming Hua: the use of scim-bridge of course is the best option. [Bug 92014] Re: Feisty partitioner sees EIDE drives as SCSI's
I have this problem when trying to install using Xubuntu 7.04 Desktop CD. The hard drive in the laptop is 40 GB ATA/100, model ST9402112A according to GParted live CD. The drive has Windows XP installed and had Xubuntu 6.10 next to Windows before I tried to install 7.04. The installer does not get ahead from the detecting file systems phase, where it runs long time. Finally the Application menu disappears and file manager windows are opened for different partitions. So I can not install the OS. I have no idea, how could I install the kernel update since I am installing using the live CD.
