[Bug 113365] Re: New version (3.02) available
Here's an improved debdiff. I accidentally listed the changes from ubuntu -> ubuntu instead of debian -> ubuntu in the debian/changelog of the last one. [Bug 109027] Re: Mouse, Keyboard disabled in Virtual PC
I have a problem that seems to be related, though I'm not using Virtual PC. In Ubuntu 7.04 my PS/2 keyboard stopped working, although it had worked in 6.10. I started tweaking my BIOS settings, and noticed that I had disabled USB 2.0 support; I think this was as a workaround to some earlier problem, but don't remember the specifics. Enabling USB 2.0 fixes the keyboard problem. The computer is a Shuttle XPC SK41G. [Bug 89487] Re: beagle-build-index uses 100% of cpu when started from cron.daily
I figured out the problem. The docbook parser is failing to parse those files, thus those files are getting filtered again on re-indexing. It really cannot be avoided, since users can always install updated filters before re-running build-index. The bad thing is that the docbook filter decides success or failure only at the end of the parsing the whole file. Someone needs to look at the docbook filter, but other than that everything else is working ok. -- beagle-build-index uses 100% of cpu when started from cron.daily https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/89487 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The obvious, simple solution is to automatically add the user via smbpasswd -a to duplicate the unix user name. The problem lies in the password. The whole problem was (in my laic view) in some redundant files in /etc/texmf, which caused problems after that. But i used only apt-get to install and remove, no manual interaction. So as far as I can remember, I think the sequence was like this: 1. on fresh system (no tex before) I installed tetex packages (not sure exactly which) 2. "sudo texconfig", uncomment 'cs' commands, rehash, exit 3. purged tetex packages 4. install texlive -> problem My system is originally Ubuntu 6.06 upgraded to 6.10 upgraded to 7.04, so it may be possible that some problem was caused by upgrades. [Bug 115175] Re: [apport] gs-esp crashed with SIGSEGV in jbig2_image_get_pixel()
The packages I mentioned in my last posting are for gutsy. If you are on Feisty or earlier, you can either try to use distribution-independent packages or compile from upstream source (both described on http://www.openprinting.org/download/printing/esp-gpl-ghostscript- merge/README) or rebuild the Ubuntu packages. To rebuild the Ubuntu packages download the files from http://www.openprinting.org/download/printing/esp-gpl-ghostscript-merge/ into the same directory. Then do sudo apt-get install build-essential sudo apt-get build-dep gs-esp gs-gpl dpkg-source -x gs-gpl_8.60.dfsg.1-0ubuntu1.dsc cd gs-gpl-8.60.dfsg.1 dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot cd .. sudo dpkg -i *gs-esp*.deb *gs-gpl*.deb Answer every question which appears with "y", so that all needed packages get installed. $ dpkg -S /etc/texmf/fmt.d/01tetex.cnf dpkg: /etc/texmf/fmt.d/01tetex.cnf not found. I had tetex* packages installed before, but I removed them completely (including config files). Can it be the source of problem? After removing 01tetex.cnf file and running update-fmtutil, the texlive- base-bin still can't be reconfigured nor installed again. I completely removed all texlive-* and tex-common packages and there were still some files in /etc/texmf, and dpkg -S told me it couldn't find their package. I had to completely remove the /etc/texmf dir, and only after that the installation of texlive worked. I also tried to install texlive on a fresh new Ubuntu 7.04 in virtual machine and it went smoothly. So, thank you very much for solving my problem. There is certainly some error in packaging system or something, because I didn't do any custom changes or anything. I just installed and removed tetex, and texlive couldn't be installed anymore. Ok so everyone is for doing this pam, I found a (slightly) better place to do this than gdm anyway. Someone should make note if this is done in pam to remove the related lines in ~/.bash_profile too. I applied a patch instead of to gdm, too: /etc/X11/Xsession.d/99x11-common_start [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/etc/X11/Xsession.d$ diff 99x11-common_start 99x11-common_start2 -c1 *** 99x11-common_start 2007-05-17 13:58:52.0 -0500 --- 99x11-common_start2 2007-05-17 13:59:05.0 -0500 *** *** 4,5 --- 4,10 + # set PATH so it includes user's private bin if it exists + if [ -d ~/bin ] ; then + PATH=~/bin:"${PATH}" + fi + exec $STARTUP I chose to patch this into /etc/X11/Xsession.d/99x11-common_start because that way it would work despite what graphical login shell was used. [Bug 84591] Re: feisty 20070210/herd5 persistent mode doesn't work
That sounds good, Fisselfink. I actually may not be able to get this going until some time next week. My wife has been giving me some dirty looks for the time I have spent. But, there are a couple things I still want to check out. I suppose it probably makes sense to make all of the files available in the form of an iso, just like a ubuntu distribution (unless someone has other thoughts), and probably makes sense to make it available without my other "customizations" (e.g. not add ntfs-3g, bootchart, etc.). That way, it is a "base" image, similar to the ubuntu distrib. Also, I am experiencing a problem installing the Java JRE and plugin. It does not look like it is a problem unique to this hybrid. But rather, appears to be a problem that others have experienced (e.g. I think it is failing to configure Java, saying it cannot locate libjli.so and libjava.so - or something to that effect - I don't have the error messages in front of me now). Although I believe Java is not in the base distribution, it would be nice if I could resolve that before making this available. But I don't think I am going to have time to figure it out. I expect it is probably an issue that can be fixed by making changes in persistent mode, but again I haven't worked it out. I guess, people should assume there may be issues and test it out and provide feedback. It may need more fine tuning. I am also am wondering whether it would make more sense to start with Edgy and upgrade from that (so that the Edgy version of the relevant files are pinned, rather than the Herd3 versions). Again, I may not have a chance to figure that out soon. If anyone wants a copy of this earlier than next week, I don't mind making it available in exactly the form I have it now, as long as everyone recognizes that it may still be a little "rough." -- feisty 20070210/herd5 persistent mode doesn't work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/84591 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
