[Bug 115901] Need to manually "sound codec" option
Public bug reported: When I first installed Ubuntu (~three weeks ago), the main (one of two) problem I had was that there was no sound output. I checked the "Volume Control" setting and got "no volume control GStreamer plugins or devices found." I searched around and couldn't find a fix until I pressed F1 at startup to enter the system settings of my HP Pavilion XL866. There I noted that an option marked "sound codec" was disabled; I enabled it and got sound again. Now the problem is that my sound works on approximately one out of every four boots. On the other one boot, the "sound codec" option seems to revert to the "disabled" settings, since when I restart and check it it's disabled again. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed ** Tags: codec hp sound ** Summary changed: - Need to manually "sound codec" option + Need to manually enable "sound codec" option on HP Pavilion XL866 ** Tags added: codec hp sound -- Need to manually enable "sound codec" option on HP Pavilion XL866 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/115901 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 115898] lost support for sm3840 family scanners
Public bug reported: I own a Mustek ScanMaster 3830 scanner. It worked fine, out-of-the-box, with both Dapper and Edgy. However, it stopped working in Feisty. It just returns following message: scanimage: open of device sm3840:libusb:001:004 failed: Access to resource has been denied Further investigation revealed, that this family of scanners is not supported by the Sane project. Instead, someone reverse-engineered a backend and prepared a patch for sane-backends-1.0.15. This is the version found in Dapper and Edgy and it works great. However, Feisty uses sane-backends-1.0.18. The apropriate library file, /usr/lib/sane/libsane-sm3840.so.1-1.0.18 is present, but it fails to do its work. After some experimenting, I just downloaded the 1.0.15 version of sane-backends, applied apropriate patch and compiled it. Then I just copied libsane-sm3840.so.1-1.0.15 and changed the symbolic links in /usr/lib/sane to point to it. It worked like a charm and my scanner is functional again. My guess is that the library present in sane-backends-1.0.18 is either just a dummy placeholder, or contains a bug that prevents it from doing its job. ** Affects: sane-backends (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- lost support for sm3840 family scanners https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/115898 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 115553] Re: [Merge]Merge democracyplayer 0.9.5.3-1 from Debain unstable
Remaining Ubuntu changes: * debian/control + python -> python2.5-dev, libxul-dev -> firefox-dev + Updated maintainer field * Use python2.5 everywhere * Use a LD_PRELOAD wrapper around democracyplayer.real * Update DBUS usage to avoid use of removed, non-public API New changes: * debian/patches/90_fix_libboost_linkage + boost-python no longer ships libboost_python.so, instead it ships libboost_python-st.so & -mt.so. Make democracyplayer link against the libboost_python-mt lib. * debian/patches/70_update_dbus_usage + Update patch to fix the extra DBUS breakage introduced in the new upstream version. ** Attachment added: "Debdiff against 0.9.5.3-1" http://librarian.launchpad.net/7722809/democracy-merge.debdiff -- [Merge]Merge democracyplayer 0.9.5.3-1 from Debain unstable https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/115553 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This has hit dep-wait on amd64 and sparc, and will hit it for the other three arches.
