[Bug 97643] Re: evdev mice: "Fatal server error:bogus pointer event from ddx"

2007-05-28 Thread Luke Maurer
FWIW, I'm having the same problem, but a different reason for not liking
the static configuration solution: My keyboard's got a scroll wheel, so
it's both keyboard and pointer. Yes, I *can* set this up statically, but
it's far more sensible to avoid the keyboard/mouse dichotomy in the
first place. There are other bugs involving inconsistencies between
event types and input devices; I'd say it's better to quit pretending
that keyboards and mice are always inherently different. (Besides,
that's what's so nifty about Linux's evdev mechanism anyway - it
abstracts the events from the originating devices.)

workaround was to run 'dhclient ra0' from the command line, but this no
longer works. What does work is to go into System Settings -> Network

[Bug 116996] Re: sata disk in ide mode with kernel 2.6.20-16-generic

2007-05-28 Thread Rocko
I can confirm that the IDE-SCSI emulation is also broken in 2.6.20-16 on
my laptop.

My main (IDE) drive now mounts as /dev/hda instead of /dev/sda, and the
CD mounts as /dev/hdc instead of /dev/scd0.

This is a pain, because it looks like cds aren't mounting until you
change the fstab file to correct the link (and obviously you can't
specify a generic UUID for the cdrom).

I am also seeing this on my system - no prizes for guessing that this is

- recently upgraded from an edgy install. I never saw anything like this
before the upgrade to 0.3.5 that came with feisty. It seems to happen
pretty well anywhere. It can be triggered by exiting, importing,
canceling an import, double clicking on a tag etc. Hard reboot is needed
(this machine is currently off the network).

[Bug 99316] Re: HP LaserJet P2015 not printing with Postscript driver

2007-05-28 Thread Greg Aumann
I just retested this on a new install of Feisty (released version, with
all updates installed). I changed to the postscript driver and printed
two pages from an openoffice document. After some processing time in the
printer the orange warning light started flashing. When I press the Go
button for a second the pages were printed and the output looked
correct. When I changed back to the hpijs driver (no other changes) the
same two pages printed without the warning light flashing. The output
from the postscript driver looks identical to that from the hpijs
driver.

This is a problem as the postscript driver is the default driver for
this printer and actually has recommended in parentheses next to the
name of the driver.
