[Bug 112925] Re: eclipse crash, when spawning browser
I can confirm that eclipse no longer crashes, so that is a good start. However the browser still does not load. I also find that 'sh /usr/lib/firefox/run-mozilla.sh /usr/bin/eclipse' does not work for me, as in eclipse does not crash, but it does not load up the browser. Click any of the logout options The computer is not totally frozen; I can still move the mouse and if there is music playing it continues playing. I can still use tty and ssh. If I login to tty1 with a different user and do "ps -u guest > echo > output.normal" while in an X session with guest, then after trying to logout, do "ps -u guest > echo > output.frozen" then "diff output.normal output.frozen" I see "3c3 < 7879 ?00:00:00 x-session-manag --- > 7879 ?00:00:01 x-session-manag 19a20 > 8631 ?00:00:00 esd" which looks like esd has started with the attempt to logout. If I do "sudo kill -9 8631" then I get back to my gdm login screen, as if the esd was causing the hang. db ProblemType: Bug Architecture: amd64 Date: Thu Jun 28 23:40:41 2007 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 7.04 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/gnome-panel Package: gnome-panel 1:2.18.1-0ubuntu3.1 PackageArchitecture: amd64 ProcCmdline: gnome-panel --sm-client-id default1 ProcCwd: /home/guest ProcEnviron: SHELL=/bin/bash PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games LANG=en_CA.UTF-8 SourcePackage: gnome-panel Uname: Linux micah 2.6.20-16-generic #2 SMP Thu Jun 7 19:00:28 UTC 2007 x86_64 GNU/Linux ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- logout stalls until esd is killed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/122972 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 122970] windows do not maximize correctly for non-standard desktop configuration
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel If I make an odd desktop configuration of the panels the windows do not maximize correctly. An example configuration will be attached in the post that follows right after this. Basically I have configured my desktop with 2 panels which are top and one left. The second top one is "non expanding" so there is plenty of room for the window to occupy the whole rectangle. When you maximize a window it resizes to the area as if the 2nd top panel is "expanding" and occupies the whole width of the desktop. I can manually resize the window to occupy the whole area. The problem might actually be in metacity, not sure. This is on Ubuntu 7.04 AMD64, but I believe it's easily reproducible on other machines. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: mozilla-thunderbird Hi, Most web publishers use the email URI like this: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] The above behavior is supported by Thunderbird. [Bug 120097] Re: Dell E530 (Sepang) No Audio
Unfortunately, it seems that we may have to install 1.0.14 to get everything to work. Realtek's modifications are negligent, and 1.0.14 definitely works when installed properly. The other catch is the requirement of the model=3stack option for snd-hda-intel. The reason I say we may have to install 1.0.14, is that the fix is in alsa-utils. alsa-utils depends on alsa-lib. alsa-lib depends on alsa- driver. When one changes the base API of the alsa-driver package to 1.0.14, the codecs and chip drivers also must be changed - symbols DO change!!! When you change those drivers, the alsa-lib driver has to be upgraded (same problem), and so forth for the alsa-utils. [Bug 122958] Trackpad quite sluggish with default acceleration settings
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg-driver-synaptics On my MacBook, the default pointer acceleration as used by the synaptics driver is unbearably slow. In particular, it takes more than one finger swipe on the trackpad to move the pointer from the bottom of the screen to the top of the screen - which is EXTREMELY annoying when doing any significant amount of work. The default acceleration for the synaptics driver needs to be changed to be more in line with Windows and OS X users' expectations - or, at the very least, be high enough such that two swipes aren't required to move the pointer from top to bottom. ** Affects: xorg-driver-synaptics (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Trackpad quite sluggish with default acceleration settings https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/122958 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: Binary package hint: update-manager I'm running Ubuntu 7.04 on an AMD Athlon 64 x2 3800 system with 2GB, ram DFI motherboard with a nForce 4 cipset, and a nVidia 6600gt GPU. My system was disconnected from the internet for a period of about a month. After reconnected my system to the internet a couple of days ago and updating my O.S. through through the update-manager, X-server seems to have somehow been corrupted. Now when I turn on my system, I get a message saying that the xorg file is mis-configured and X will not run until the problem is resolved. Problem is, I don't think that there is anything wrong with the xorg.conf file as I first tried replacing it with some of my backup xorg files that have worked fine in the past then tried running the xorg.conf auto-configuration program (dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg) to no avail. ** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- X-server corrupted after ubuntu auto-update https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/122957 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I'm doing my best to wait (somewhat) patiently. -- Cannot edit audio profiles without closing the list https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/84007 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 14310] Re: fontconfig don't use autohinter as default
It seems that, in common usage, the autohinter ought to at least be enabled for the default fonts used in Ubuntu (Vera Sans/Vera Serif) as it makes them look MUCH better. The above-mentioned Ubuntu/Fedora comparison does a good job of showing this... Granted, some fonts may look worse with the autohinter, but I think with the fonts used most ofen on Ubuntu, it yields a substantial improvement. Is this a possibility? -- fontconfig don't use autohinter as default https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/14310 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 108786] Re: Visual Glitch on the screen with a Dell inspiron 8600
As noted in my (unfortunate) duplicate bug report, I am also having this issue. I've recently tried the Gutsy Tribe 1 and Tribe 2 live cds with identical results. I'm including the text of my original bug report below. The xorg.conf file is the default from the live cd. Original bug report text follows: "System: Dell Inspiron 8600 ATI Mobility 9600 Pro 128mb WXGA Display (1280x800 maximum resolution) This issue can be reproduced with a Feisty Fawn live cd. I am experiencing graphical corruption in the form of horizontal lines in the center of the screen. The lines do not appear on a blank background, they appear to be due to the partial redrawing of what is immediately to the left of the center of the screen (window borders, mouse cursor, etc). This only occurs when using the 'ati' open source driver, the fglrx driver works fine. An Edgy Eft live cd works perfectly (also with 'ati' driver), detects maximum resolution and has 3d support with no graphical corruption. I have tried setting manual horizontal and vertical sync values in xorg.conf." -- Visual Glitch on the screen with a Dell inspiron 8600 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/108786 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
