2007-09-26 Thread Jussi Kukkonen
J C Nash, just to make sure: are you saying that even though your
"default grub root device"-line was set correctly like this:

# groot=(hd0,0)

Your actual menu.lst entries still got set changed to "(hd0.1)"?

You can also try if
 Option "BusType" "PCI"
helps. It would be a better workaround than disabling DRI.

[Bug 143979] Re: Creating or editing a smart playlist crashes Banshee

2007-09-26 Thread Pontus Freyhult
This seems to be a duplicate of #143979. I've also reported it as
upstream bug 464362
(), but I now think
it's specific to Ubuntu Gutsy.

I guess it shouldn't be that hard to figure out what's happening for
someone who knows what's happened with the libraries between Feisty and
Gutsy.

[Bug 141551] Re: dri lockup on ati (mobility radeon rv350)

2007-09-26 Thread Tormod Volden
Thanks for the info, excellent debugging. The X server is spinning in a
loop and munging CPU. The repeating ioctl(7, 0x6444, 0) is probably a
DRI request (from Xorg.0.log we can see file descriptor 7 is
/dev/dri/card0 - you can verify it with ls -l /proc/`pgrep Xorg`/fd ).

Can you try to get a stack trace with gdb? You might want to install
debug/symbol packages for xserver-xorg-core, libgl1-mesa-dri and libgl1
-mesa-glx.

2007-09-26 Thread Ming Hua
请不要在 Launchpad 提交中文 bug 报告。Ubuntu 的开发者里很少有人能看懂中文。如果您无法使用英文提交报告,请到 Ubuntu
的中文邮件 (https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-zh)
列表寻求帮助,描述你的问题并请人代你用英文提交报告。谢谢。

Please don't submit bug reports to Launchpad in Chinese. Few Ubuntu
developers can read Chinese. If you can't write in English, please go
to Ubuntu's Chinese mailing list to seek help, describe your problem
there and ask other people to submit English report for you. Thanks.

[Bug 145475] mythmusic does not play

2007-09-26 Thread janl
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mythmusic

Hi,

I enjoy mythtv enormously.

But I can't get mythmusic to work. It scans my collection and adds it to
the database. (incidentaly mythweb shows that all tracks are 0:00
long). The interface starts up and I choose a song, which does not play.
the time display does not change from 0:00 and the visualization does
not "go". I can press > for next and so on. Once I press "p" for pause
the whole thing freezes hard and I have to kill mythfrontend entirely.

Regards,
  Nicolai

[Bug 82368] Re: Usb keyboard doesn't work at log on

2007-09-26 Thread Matthew Craig
Here is a picture of my keyboard:
http://www.fentek-ind.com/kbm85.htm

I love this keyboard. I spent extra just to get rid of the number pad,
so I could type on my lap without it falling off balance.

But, I am ready to buy a new keyboard. Having to unplug and plug-in the
USB cable everyday is annoying. I am hoping someone will see how cute
is this keyboard and save it from the spare parts drawer.

[Bug 144735] Re: After today's update to devmapper, system does not boot successfully

2007-09-26 Thread Robert Vollmert
I can confirm this: For me, the boot doesn't fail because I don't have
any lvm-ed partition automounted (other than root), but manually
mounting partitions fails ("too many levels of symbolic links"), and
/dev/mapper is full of symlinks like above.

I should note that I'm running a custom self-compiled kernel
(2.6.23-rc3).

[Bug 92862] Re: Shouldn't be apt-get-centric

I strongly disagree about not telling the user exactly how to install a

package directory yet and are stuck looking for something they want to
use.

Debian can replace the default value and recommend aptitude instead.

[Bug 134496] Re: After initial reboot, wrong ethernet card is used

2007-09-26 Thread Lars Wirzenius
Alexander, I thought I did that already in my first message to this bug
report: the D-Link card (r8169 driver, MAC 00:17:9a:3a:c9:52) is the
right one, the VIA card is the wrong one (and has no cable attached).

That's also what I tell the installer, of course.

relevant for my case.

Ah, ok. That is a wild hack (to put it simple), it calls external
programs (via shell escapes), converts them to pdf, and includes them.

I would say that this doesn't really ask for a dependency.

You could take a look at pgf/tikz, too, which does dvi/ps - pdf
switching automatically. So you can compile a document either with
latex/dvips or with pdflatex

Best wishes

[Bug 145468] gnome-panel and gnome-volume-manager hangs

2007-09-26 Thread epaulin
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

Sometimes gnome-panel will hangs after hours running, it will show as a gray
bar or not clickable.
Then a press CTRL + ALT + backspace to restart X, gnome-panel and esd will not
exit as excepted.

My system was always updated gusty(at least upgrade every week), these
was occurs before after 1 or 2 hours gnome running, and then after some
packages upgraded, it never happens till gusty20070924(and I also
updated NVIDIA X86_64 x86_64-100.14.19 driver ), now things ever getting
worse, gnome-panel hangs more and more often.

System Info: gusty-20070927 64 version on Macbook Pro santa rose

I should add that since I posted this bug I googled for related packages
and now I am using auto-pst-pdf, which in my opinion does a much better
job than pdftricks, so the bug doesn't affect me anymore (but it is
still there).

[Bug 145466] Bad .torrent azureus association file in Firefox

2007-09-26 Thread Saïvann Carignan
Public bug reported:

When clicking on a torrent file in Firefox, Firefox offer the choice
between the actual BitTorrent program and c:\program
files\azureus\azureus.exe ( it's the Microsoft Windows installation path
). It's such a problem because if I open the torrent with this, I'll get
a error message because azureus.exe doesn't exist. It just means that
the actual Firefox association for the .torrent file is wrong.

This seems to just be a simple value that should be changed in azureus
source files.

[Bug 145465] madwifi + wpasupplicant + network-manager = broken

2007-09-26 Thread Christian Holtje
Public bug reported:

I'm using gusty.

I have no idea where to file this because there are already a million
bugs on this problem and the fact that there are 3+ packages that the
problem can be part of means the bugs never get fixed.

I cannot log into WPA WAPs at all. This was broken with the latest
updates.

Attached is my daemon.log. When it connects at the end, it is
connecting to an unsecured WAP, which is not where I'm trying to connect
to. I'm trying to connect to the WPA wap.

This has been tested on two computers on Ubuntu Gutsy and Gnucash

I don't agree, how do you come to this conclusion:

$ cat test.tex
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage{pstricks}
\begin{document}
Hello World
\end{document}
$ latex -recorder test.tex

$ grep moreverb test.fls

The document compiles, and no moreverb is occurring in test.fls.

[Bug 145303] Re: Gnome Logout button doesn't work for guest account

2007-09-26 Thread Ulrich Hobelmann
I'm fairly sure I chose "desktop user". I suppose it's only a bunch of
pre-set groups, though, and the groups are fine.

Anyway, creating a third user actually didn't have the problem, so tried
a few things, such as changing groups and deleting dotfiles. It must
have been a problem caused by keeping my old user directory (for my main
user, I also scrapped all dotfiles beforehand, because I like to see the
default Gnome in all its new, updated glory), i.e., deleting all
dotfiles did the trick (though for some reason it didn't really change
the guest's theme and panel settings ... well, they must live somewhere
else I guess).

Sorry for all the trouble, but it might be a good idea to do more
testing with 7.04 users migrating to 7.10, in case I'm not the only one
with that problem.
