[Bug 174899] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV

2007-12-13 Thread Mark Gius
I too have encountered this same error.

I have been unable to reliably recreate this bug, but it happens every
so often, and seems to be related to video playback. In two occasions I
saw the bug happen. The first was when switching workspaces with a
video playing in VLC in one workspace and evolution in another. I
switched away from the movie, worked in evolution for a short time, then
switched back. The video's workspace did not appear, and in its place a
fullscreen multi-color static display for a few seconds, then GDM
restarts and I can log back in. The second time I encountered this bug
was while starting a movie through the mozilla-mplayer plugin. The
movie finished caching and Xorg displayed the multi-color static field
and restarted.

I have compiz/compiz fusion disabled if it makes any difference.

Fully updated as of Dec 12th.

[Bug 176071] missing libmemusage.so and memusage.sh

My setting is still at the default, 33554432.
It seems there are a bunch of cinelerra packages for Gutsy out there now, but I
couldn't get any of them to work on my AMD K7 with an older nvidia card, due
to some OpenGL problem (glDeleteShader undefined).

However, from what I gathered from various forums is, that the kernel.shmmax =

I was also using the Gutsy live installer, and it showed "unknown".
When you select Properties (or was it Information?) it explained that
this could mean that it's unallocated, or that gparted doesn't recognize
the partition type, or that it's hosed.

Does it matter whether the partition is mounted or not? When you have
the decryption in place, of course gparted can look inside and see what
the container contains, but when it's encrypted, that should not be
possible (I assume).

Granted, LUKS is not a partition type, but it would be better if it
showed "I know what this is" rather than a yellow warning triangle and a
"might be broken or empty" explanation.

[Bug 148003] Re: mounting Luks encrypted USB-HDD does not work reliably

2007-12-13 Thread Peter Wainwright
Unfortunately I still occasionally get the temporary-cryptsetup mapping
left around (as shown by sudo dmsetup ls), though this is much less
frequent now. I'm afraid that race conditions are probably endemic due
to the design of udev; the way it forks processes into the background it
seems like there is no guarantee that create/remove events will be
handled in the right order. I wish I knew why this all worked (for me)
under Gutsy.

The packages in you ppa, you mean? Those are not installable (both

xserver-xorg-core is versioned 2:1.3.0*.0* in gutsy while in hardy it's
2:1.4.1*~2007...* and radeonhd seems to think 1.3.0.0 is bigger than

I can confirm this bug, and it is NOT a duplicate: I installed pstoedit 3.45 as

The interpreter seems to have failed, cannot proceed !

The font in this case is Helvetica. The processed file is from GMT,
where the font can be configured, but none of them work.

This makes converting the .eps files produced by GMT to .fig files
impossible, which is my main use case for pstoedit. That it makes
printing from evince/PDF impossible in a particularly intractable way is
adding insult to injury.

[Bug 163075] Re: dm-multipath + scsi_transport_fc interop problems

2007-12-13 Thread Leann Ogasawara
Hi Tore,

Thank you for your report and helping to make Ubuntu better. Beginning
with the Hardy release, the kernel source package naming convention has
changed from linux-source-2.6.24 to just linux. Therefore, I'm
reassigning to the 'linux' package.

I'll also assign this request to the kernel team. However, note that It
is a lot of extra work for the Ubuntu kernel team to maintain out of
tree patches. As you probably already know, they typically prefer
upstream acceptance before considering to maintain community patches
locally. I'll leave it to their discretion regarding the maintenance of
this patch in Ubuntu. Thanks!

2007-12-13 Thread Mathijs
In Gutsy (Evolution 2.12.1) the arrow keys only work in combination with
SHIFT, which is better than nothing but not ideal. So, 'SHIFT-right'
opens a mail thread, and 'SHIFT-left' closes it. Why not simply use
'right' and 'left'? This seems more logic, and makes it a lot easier to
browse through your mail in thread view.

[Bug 176084] Please sync jadetex 3.13-9 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2007-12-13 Thread Michael Vogt
Public bug reported:

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

 affects ubuntu/jadetex

 subscribe ubuntu-archive

Please sync jadetex 3.13-9 (main) from Debian unstable (main).

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
We used to have a conffile removal in the preinst that applied
to +   if dpkg --compare-versions "$2" le "3.13-3" && \
+ (dpkg --compare-versions "$2" le "3.13-2.1ubuntu0" || \
+ dpkg --compare-versions "$2" ge "3.13-3")
Those versions are pre-dapper (dapper has 3.13-6ubuntu2) so we can
drop that now

Changelog since current hardy version 3.13-8ubuntu1:

jadetex (3.13-9) unstable; urgency=low

  * Remove most settings from texmf.d/96JadeTeX.cnf, they were lower than
the original tex-common settings. [fk]
  * Allow "reconfigure" as an alternative to "configure" as postinst
argument. [fk]
  * Fix a missing "s" in the maintainer address
  * convert the changelog file to UTF8 (Closes: #396030)
  * rework the README.Debian file (Closes: #364109)
  * use dpkg-query instead of grepping in status in postinst

that helps, here two crash reports of installations, that didn't finish,
because the scripts could not connect to the internet.

[Bug 176091] random freezes

2007-12-13 Thread usien
Public bug reported:

I am using Gutsy on Dell 6000 inspiron laptop.
Output of uname -a : Linux usien-laptop 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Sun Oct 14
23:05:12 GMT 2007 i686 GNU/Linux

This never happened in edgy and fiesty and even in gutsy until recently.

My machine freezes randomly including the mouse and the keyborad. This
usually doesn't happen on too much load (i am using the usual two, three
apps).

I have ran the memory test and it came out clean.

acpi -t gives a maximum temp of 57 degrees celcius (at max load), with a
normal temp in 40s.

I have to hard boot the machine to get anything working.

Sometimes when i hard boot, i get an error at grub about the hard disk
and it doesnt boot, when i restart again it works. Sometimes after the
hard boot the system boots but hangs at usplash and other times it boots
to the login screen and when i login, it either does not recognize my
username or hangs when logging in.

[Bug 176090] wlan led not working on sony vaio sz6n50

2007-12-13 Thread Michael Doube
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kernel-image-2.6.22-14-generic-di

The WLAN LED does not glow on the Sony Vaio SZ650N, however the
bluetooth LED does glow. But the bluetooth LED glows inappropriately -
whenever the wireless kill switch is set to 'ON', despite having no
bluetooth apps running.

It looks as though the bluetooth LED is functioning as a generic 'radio
on' indicator, which fails to distinguish between WLAN and bluetooth.
