I tried it three ways. The first was using IE in the Windows VM (guest system). The second was using FireFox in Ubuntu (hist system). Both times I ended up getting the RPM package from the Adobe web site. The third time I used Opera in Ubuntu, and got the correct install package for Windows (manual request was for the Windows 2000 SP4 download). I suspect that the Adobe web site has a bug in the manual designation process, and that its automatic recognition of the target machine is causing problems by overriding the manual selection process. Probably they do this for IE and FireFox, but do not really interface the same with Opera, which is not near as popular. But it creates an interesting test environment for whether the VM or Host OS is detected externally. [Bug 177160] Re: External monitor switching dosen't works properly on HP nx9105
Laptop is HP nx9105 with nVidia NV17 [GeForce4 450 Go 32M] rev.a3 With Gutsy, it is like this: With distributional X driver: If the external monitor is plugged in during startup, it works, even Ubuntu startup logo is OK, until the graphical mode (GDM) is started. Then, blinking textual nonsense is displayed on the external monitor. Fn-F4 seems to switch to internal-only, then external-only. When both-monitors is enabled again, the image on internal LCD is garbled. Seems narrowed by 1/3 and overlayed on right side. Interestingly, when the screen is blanked during inactivity, and then restored (e.q. by moving a mouse), the textual nonse on external monitor is greyscaled. When rebooting, text mode is entered, so that external monitor can be read again, however if it faded to the greyscale before, the text is also grey, with limited visibility. [Bug 184992] Re: Thinkpad T60 [1680x1050], ATIx1400, no X on Gutsy, Hardy
Solved (mostly). Sorry about the confusion. This bug (?) apparently was caused by a misconfiguration somewhere in the depths of my '.kde' directory tree. My kmail had begun to act strangely which is why I tried to upgrade to gutsy. The mistake was revealed when I created a new user and logged in to test this possibility and all of a sudden, X started to work perfectly. I experimented with copying various suspicious files and directories and the .kde dir caused the glitch. Somewhere in there is a file that corrupts X, but I haven't found it yet. ALSO!! [Bug 125334] Re: Should use NVIDIA-*-pkg0.run instead of -pkg1 and -pkg2 to save space
I took a look at the scripts, and it would mean changing them quite a bit, since if the build host is 64bit it won't even touch the 32bit pkg. Not worth the effort. ** Changed in: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24 (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Won't Fix -- Should use NVIDIA-*-pkg0.run instead of -pkg1 and -pkg2 to save space https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/125334 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 106756] Re: Search for suitable codec dialog not translated/translatable
Actually this was not completely fixed in feisty, either. But anyway, the fix for the issue is pending.
