[Bug 186172] [NEW] konsole-kde4 goes black and eats my cursor

2008-01-26 Thread Alexander Rødseth
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: konsole-kde4

I start up konsole-kde4 and all is well - everything works as expected.

However, after writing a command or two, sometimes the window goes completely
black and my mouse-cursor disappears.
It doesn't seem like the sudden change of window-content is connected to
commands I type (like cd and ls - nothing strange).

I can still move the window around and resize the window. The mouse-
cursor still works correctly everywhere except when moving it over that
window.

I have turned off the scrollbar, tab-bar and menubar in the options, and
run konsole-kde4 as full screen (it covers the entire virtual desktop).
I use Fvwm.

[Bug 15183] Re: Please make bluetooth headset Just Work

2008-01-26 Thread Jeff Saucier
Ok, I seem to have solve my problem.

I have changed my bluetooth dongle for a new one and everything work
fine at the first try. My old dongle was a bluetooth 1.2 and my new is a
bluetooth 2.0.

So, it seem that my headset require a bluetooth 2.0 dongle to not make a
kernel panic!

[Bug 111089] Re: Ricoh R5C822 - MMC cards not detected in built-in memory card reader

2008-01-26 Thread Domenico
The suggested commands:

sudo setpci -s 07:05.1 0xCA=0x57 # Write Enable
sudo setpci -s 07:05.1 0xCB=0x02 # (MMC Disable)
sudo setpci -s 07:05.1 0xCA=0x00 # (Write Disable)

Worked perfectly for my HP Pavillon dv6385ea.

@Gurkan Gur: i think that your script is wrong, as it would do something
to the FireWire controller. This will be better:

#!/bin/bash
modprobe -r sdhci
setpci -s `lspci | grep "SD\/SDIO\/MMC\/MS\/MSPro" | awk '{print $1}'` 0xCA=0x57
setpci -s `lspci | grep "SD\/SDIO\/MMC\/MS\/MSPro" | awk '{print $1}'` 0xCB=0x02
# setpci -s `lspci | grep "SD\/SDIO\/MMC\/MS\/MSPro" | awk '{print $1}'`
0xCA=0x00

[Bug 98815] Re: keep (still) does a backup every hour

2008-01-26 Thread Holger Krause
No, the problem isn't completly solved, at least not for me. I had
'Keep' already installed under feisty and it run every hour and after
login. A week ago I upgraded to gutsy, with the hope, that this problem
might be fixed. But still 'Keep' shows the same erroneous behaviour.

P.S.: I just had a look at the backup log, which dates back to
2007-02-27 (that was edgy time, right?). So obviously I originally
installed the package under edgy.

P.P.S.: I'm not sure, wether I should change the bug status?

[Bug 101943] Re: braid screensaver crashes system with compiz activated

2008-01-26 Thread Nando
To clarify what I mean by the "pink and bluish scribbles" here is a
screen shot -- yes it just happened again.

The interesting thing is that when I choose to capture the screen shot
from the movie player menu the image comes out okay :? I think it
happens when I change from desktop without effects to desktop with
effects. It was working fine a little while ago.

Here are the comments about people who had the same problem with the
flickering black screen.

http://ohioloco.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=612144

Let me point out I tried some of those solutions and it didn't work for
me. (When I have the desktop effects on)

I am trying the desktop effects without the window wobbling to see if
that's the problem. I'll post the results later.

I think nVidia is part of the problem but I am also inclined to believe
that the Desktop effects need some serious work done to them. It is
horrible to get people all excited about this candy and then give them
all kinds of issues :-D So far it's like having a relationship with a
Playboy model.

[Bug 186164] [NEW] latex: multiple texmf.cnf files do not work correctly

2008-01-26 Thread Hans Georg
Public bug reported:

This bug appeared after upgrade to 7.10, and it also exists in a fresh
installation of 8.04 alpha 3.
It works fine in every other latex installation I have every used, including
ubuntu prior to 7.10 and Fedora Core.
On 8.04 a3 I carefully avoided to install tetex-extra, in case the problem was
caused by a conflict between tetex and texlive.

I have a personal texmf.cnf file which only override selected paths, compared
to the system texmf.cnf.
This no longer seems to work; styles in the local or home directories, as
specified in the local or home texmf.cnf are not found by (pdf)latex.
Oddly, they are found by kpsewhere
$ kpsewhich unislide.sty
$ kpsewhere unislide.sty
/home/georg/share/texmf/tex/latex/hgbeamer/unislide.sty
This behaviour is not consistent with the man pages as far as I can tell.

still same problem, one remark, after reseting cdrom with command

   sudo hdparm -w /dev/hdc

we can see that DMA has been disabled, so in order to re-enable DMA do
command

   sudo hdparm -d1 /dev/hdc

to see if DMA is enabled do following command

   sudo hdparm /dev/hdc

/dev/hdc:
 IO_support=  1 (32-bit)
 unmaskirq =  1 (on)
 using_dma =  1 (on)   <-   DMA is enabled
 keepsettings  =  0 (off)
 readonly  =  0 (off)
 readahead = 256 (on)
 HDIO_GETGEO failed: Inappropriate ioctl for device

after enable of DMA i could use my CDROM with a decent data transfer

[Bug 148003] Re: mounting Luks encrypted USB-HDD does not work reliably

2008-01-26 Thread Jan Klötzke
Seems something like my proposed patch was already in the upstream udev
git development tree...

http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/hotplug/udev.git;a=commitdiff;h=a0092d28dbb2c1c75c2fac17303b703343f03a35

See also http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=457616 where
the original upstream patch came from. It looks like as it doesn't only
affect LUKS mounting in particular...

Exact;y the same hit me too with Hardy Alpha 3 (i386-desktop).
I have only 30kB-60kB rate while downloading the updates
(236MB takes a long time, mind you) - but in Feisty/Gutsy
the same PCI card using rt2500pci module gives me a full
speed of 240kB-250kB download rate.

My mainboard is ASUS A8V Deluxe, and the hardware:

# lspci -v
00:0e.0 Network controller: RaLink RT2500 802.11g Cardbus/mini-PCI (rev 01)
Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. WL-130g
Flags: bus master, slow devsel, latency 64, IRQ 21
Memory at fbb0 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=8K]
Capabilities: [40] Power Management version 2

PS. I'm writing this comment while the updates are downloading
in the chroot'ed Hardy environment, started from inside otherwise
perfectly working Gutsy installation. :-)
