[Bug 183061] Re: Linksys WUSB54GS v2 does not work with ubuntu
I have a Linksys WUSB 54G using Ubuntu 7.10. The Network Manager says there is a good signal. It even sees other password protected signals from other wireless routers. However, it won't accept my password. After processing the code for a minute or two the same Network Manager window appears with a blank password space. The same thing happens if I try using the Radar Wifi. [Bug 197819] Re: [Hardy]b43-fwcutter install script fails to fetch firmware in first run
Hi I have this problem as well. My applicable LSPCI information is: Broadcom Corporation BCM4318 [AirForce One 54g] 802.11g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 02) After enabling restricted drivers in Beta, and installing bcm43xx-fwcutter (after which it did not work and rebooting did not help) I noticed an error that I would get every once in a while when watching (whatever terminal you get when you press ctrl+alt+f1): [ 2563.664354] b43-phy5 ERROR: Firmware file "b43/ucode5.fw" not found or load failed. [ 2563.664367] b43-phy5 ERROR: You must go to http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/b43#devicefirmware and download the correct firmware (version 4). after doing what you said in this thread: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/b43-fwcutter/+bug/197819/comments/7 the blue light instantly turned on and my computer began noticing wireless networks. (Can't connect to 128-bit WEP wireless here on campus though, but that probably belongs in another bug report). Running 2.6.24-12-generic on HH Beta. I should also mention that in Alpha 6 what I got to work apparently was something along the lines of what this guy wrote here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/b43-fwcutter/+bug/197819/comments/14 I would bumble around installing/uninstalling that using the restricted drivers option in HH and the Synaptic manager, while continually installing bcm43xx-fwcutter. Not sure which it was that would get it to work, it just mysteriously would work after rebooting. I want to get this stamped out so if there's anything I can do to help please let me know, I've signed up for emails, or email me directly if it shows my email address (new to this). -- [Hardy]b43-fwcutter install script fails to fetch firmware in first run https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/197819 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 190514] Re: gnome-vfs-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in _dl_fixup()
Does this really make sense ? it's tagged as "need-i386-retrace", you wrote that "automatic retracer will pick it up and do a stacktrace", so stop sending (non-useful) info until then. a month later you post that your closing it because it needs more info ? and it's still tagged as needing i386-retrace. do you want me to do the i386-retrace, and the stacktrace since your automatic system did not ? closing this bug, basically does not fix the bug, that is in a final product. what' s up with the auto-system ?, I know sometimes the auto-stuff does not get a valid-useable result, but was it even tried here ? I would ask "what commands do I need to run for you'all" but, that hard drive is not connected on this computer right now, so I probably could not give much further info anyway. It just sounds like there is a jumping of the gun to close the bug as Invalid, when it should probably marked as Incomplete at least. Both labels make it sound like I did something wrong or just bug dumped, but that is another thing altogether. Maybe it doesn't matter, the final product is out already out, maybe it's been fixed already, maybe somebody loaded this on there friend's computer to show them how cool ubuntu is, and for them to try it and this bug came up. [Bug 205359] [NEW] Unable to install Hardy Beta Desktop i386
Public bug reported: I was unable to install Hardy Heron Beta Desktop i386 (downloaded on 2008-03-22) on my physical machine. Four attempts were made: 1. Chose "Install" from the LiveCD boot menu (which bypasses the live session). I chose a "manual" partitioning. Windows 2000 is installed on the machine, as well as an earlier Ubuntu installation, using two partitions. I chose to leave the Windows partitions alone, format the partition previously mounted as /, and not format the partition mounted as '/home'. The installation progressed but part of the way through an error message popped up with the title "Failed to copy files; faulty CD/DVD or hard disk?" saying that the CD or hard drive has a problem. This is the text of the error: "The installer encountered an error copying files to the hard disk: [Errno 5] Input/output error This particular error is often due to a faulty CD/DVD disk or drive, or a faulty hard disk. It may help to clean the CD/DVD, to burn the CD/DVD at a lower speed, to clean the CD/DVD drive lens (cleaning kits are often available from electronics suppliers), to check whether the hard disk is old and in need of replacement, or to move the system to a cooler environment." (The spelling "Errno" is not my mistake, it is spelled that way in the error message.) The CD has been checked multiple times for errors and there is nothing known wrong with the hard drive or DVD drive (after failing to install Hardy, I was able to install Kubuntu 7.10 on the machine without errors). The install stops and drops to the live session desktop. 2. Booted into a Live session and double-clicked on the "Install" icon on the desktop. Same selections for partitioning as above. Curiously in the "Migrate Documents and Settings" step the Windows installation was not detected. The installation progressed past the input screens, but before finishing the progress bar indicator simply disappeared, dropping to the Live session desktop. A reboot of the computer shows that at the very least grub was not properly installed. What was probably the previous grub installation crashed with Error 15. 3. Tried again using same method as 2. but after going all the way through Step 7 of 7, clicking Next to start the install caused the installer to drop back to Step 4 of 7 for partitioning. Every time step 7 was reached and the install was begun, it immediately dropped back to step 4. 4. Same as in 3. but checked boxes to format both the partitions ('/' and '/home'). Again the installer dropped back to step 4 after the final step 7. I suspect there is a problem with the partitioning I am trying to do but there should not be. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Unable to install Hardy Beta Desktop i386 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/205359 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hello, I know it is a gross hack, but I was 100% sure that ubuntu-release would not like to change to a new package this late in the release cycle. [Bug 31830] Re: Incorrect screen resolution in Dapper LiveCD
I'm afraid this problem has reappeared (at least for me) in the Hardy beta. I used to have it regularly in earlier versions of ubuntu, but not in Gutsy, nor, I think, in Feisty. It's a Dell Latitude C600 with an ATI Mobility 128 graphics chipset. The boot process, with or without splash, is fine, but X is offering a top resolution of 800x600. Also, and more seriously, the screen is broken into three unequal vertical sections, effectively three partial projections of the desktop---exactly the same old problem that I thought I'd seen the last of some time ago! Has anyone else got this problem (I've got one or two others including an hard drive install that fails around the 60% mark, but that's not relevant to this). [Bug 192888] Re: firefox crashes on flash contents
I confirm the bug. Under gutsy, flash animations like youtube videos used to cause epiphany-browser to crash from time to time while unloading the animation. Now that I upgraded to hardy beta, this happens way more often, like on 50% of the animations. This is not reproducible for each animation. However, I was able to find an animation which seems to trigger the bug repeatedly (or at least a bug with the same symptoms): it is the big animation at the top of http://www.makinghistory.upenn.edu/ . (Directions: > Let the animation play until the end and watch the browser hang > Re-load and press the "skip intro" button to witness the same effect) Hope it helps. gm. -- firefox crashes on flash contents https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/192888 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 183619] Re: [hardy] wlan0: AP denied association
I am having this problem on Hardy Beta, kernel 2.6.24-12-generic. I have an Intel 3945 card with the iwl3945 driver. I followed instructions on the Ubuntu Iwlwifi page: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/iwlwifi_Intel_3945_4965/gutsy and on the Debian wiki: http://wiki.debian.org/iwlwifi. These pages talk about migrating from ipl3945 (deprecated) to iwl3945. I am using Wicd 1.4.2-1, currently connected via Ethernet. But the errors do not appear if I run "sudo dhclient wlan0": ~$ sudo dhclient wlan0 There is already a pid file /var/run/dhclient.pid with pid 11279 killed old client process, removed PID file Internet Systems Consortium DHCP Client V3.0.6 Copyright 2004-2007 Internet Systems Consortium. [Bug 188787] Re: no wacom tablet driver
Hardy version of wacom driver actually is 0.7.9.3, it has some workaround for X.org 7.3 , but the latest is 0.7.9.8 and it has better support for X.org 7.3 than the actual package on hardy (my Bamboo tablet seems to be fully functional with this version), the mantainer of wacom- tools and xorg-input-wacom should upgrade it as fast as possible before the final release. PS: X.org 7.3 seems to have improved hotplugin for input devices, I think that´s the reason beacuse there aren´t any entries on xorg.conf configuration file. -- no wacom tablet driver https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/188787 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 182716] Re: bcm4306 doesn't work with b43 / ssb
Yeah, I know that, but when I modprobe b43legacy, it does nothing. Modprobing b43 gives me what you got. I couldn't get it to work even without Network Manager. -- bcm4306 doesn't work with b43 / ssb https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/182716 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
