[Bug 197462] Re: firefox crash with user-agent switcher and www.tg4.ie

2008-04-12 Thread Matthew Tighe
Since that extension is not provided as part of the Ubuntu distribution,
you would most likely be better off reporting this to the developer of
the plugin. Have you tried another windows user agent? There must a few
of them in the list.

[Bug 198111] Re: Evolution and Google calendar

2008-04-12 Thread raghav
I faced something similar. Since its really my first time, I filed a
new bug report (216123) which has aptly been marked as duplicate of this
one.

However, in my situation, it does remember the username. And its not
able to show any events at all. Basically the application just crashes.

Checking gconf-editor its visible that it has tried to store the same
info mentioned earlier.

@Michael : The workaround you suggest was working in previous version as
well, I have to say, I personally was looking forward to have the
ability to publish from evolution to google as a key thing (like the
calendar plugin for thunderbird provides). Thats been one big reason
for me to wait for the new version of Evolution.

Could one of you post the corresponding bug number or so that has been
filed with evolution team (gnome bugzilla) ? I'm rather new so I dont
really know how it works.

[Bug 216661] [NEW] UFW blocks traffic inappropriately

2008-04-12 Thread Dave Suffling
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ufw

UFW seems to inappropriately block incoming traffic when rules should
allow that traffic.

In the specific configuration in question, traffic for port 37000 is
being blocked as 'INVALID'.

The UFW package in question is ufw 0.16.1 on Ubuntu Hardy 8.04
(Development branch).

/var/log/messages contains several entries such as this one:

---
Apr 13 02:31:51 logic kernel: [470939.097911] [UFW BLOCK INVALID]: IN=eth1 OUT=
MAC=00:02:2a:a0:[redacted]:00:13:46:3f:06:12:[redacted]
SRC=71.59.106.[redacted] DST=192.168.0.101 LEN=48 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=113
ID=10501 DF PROTO=TCP SPT=56917 DPT=37000 WINDOW=8192 RES=0x00 SYN URGP=0
---

This occurs despite having the following rules in the UFW configuration:

---
$ sudo ufw status
Firewall loaded

To Action From
-- --
22:tcp ALLOW Anywhere
22:udp ALLOW Anywhere
Anywhere ALLOW 192.168.0.0/16

Traffic for ports 22, 993 is handled correctly.

[Bug 191426] Re: Firefox corrupts URLs in Netflix emails

2008-04-12 Thread Matthew Tighe
This is probably a parsing error in evolution. I know "&" is actually
some sort of HTML or Javascript thing. Apparently however (from
googling), Netflix shouldn't be putting & in their URLs, either. It's
not technically wrong but is not recommended.

[Bug 216660] [NEW] Show a usb device twice after hibernate (GNOME - Hardy)

Here's the issue.
When I plug in an USB storage device, let it plugged and make the computer

If I unplug the device, only the first (empty) remains.

[Bug 132065] Re: screen stops refreshing after rotate when running compiz fusion

2008-04-12 Thread TechnocratiK
I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 beta on a Fujitsu LifeBook T4215 with and Intel
945GM. I did some unkosher testing and was able to confirm that this is
not a compiz bug: using the screenshot tool (see: Applications ->
Accessories -> Take Screenshot) on a 10-second delay along with a
terminal window executing the command

xrandr -o right && sleep 20 && xrandr -o normal

yields a beautiful image (see attachment) of compiz running in 768x1024.
So Tom's compiz fix is cool (though I haven't had the chance to
recompile compiz to test it myself), but I have to agree that the
solution to this problem will ultimately lie in mesa or the intel
driver. If anyone's had the same problem with an ATI or nVidia card, I
think that would close the book on where the fix needs to be done.

[Bug 202366] Re: Burning disc stalled and ruins disc when opening gparted during process

2008-04-12 Thread Matthew Tighe
This falls under the "don't do this" category. Gparted scans all
connected drives when launching. It's designed to do that. This will
interrupt the disc burning process.

Given the nature of Gparted and the fact it requires root privs to even
execute, I can't really agree this is a "bug". The user can't accidently
click it and make it happen.

[Bug 211471] Re: Connecting to other networks causes gnome-panel to hang

2008-04-12 Thread Brett Howard
After rebuilding the box from scratching with an 8.04 beta disc and
installing all updates I still have this same issue. Its not that the
panel totally crashes now though. Things just respond VERY slowly in
comparison to when I'm at home. I've noticed this operation on 3
different access points up and down the street. Just driving down the
street had enough points listed that it had to scroll several
screenfull's just to see the one I wanted to connect to. The points I'm
connecting to are straight up open 100% public free points. The one at
home is WPA Personal.

Once applications are open they seem to respond generally fine but the
applications menu becomes painfully slow...

[Bug 216655] [NEW] device/rf_kill and power/state do not exist

2008-04-12 Thread Jonathan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: acpi-support

The state-funcs script tries to get the information about the wireless
from device/rf_kill and power/state. Although on my system, these two
do not exist.

So when I run the script /etc/acpi/asus-wireless.sh or use the function
key 'FN+F2', the wireless state is not effected.

Also, the wireless led is not effected.

[Bug 157909] Re: IDE0 and IDE1 taken over by SATA in Gutsy

2008-04-12 Thread Aaron C. de Bruyn
Works for me in Hardy beta.
It's too bad that my only two recourses are upgrading to an unfinished beta
release or recompiling the kernel myself.

It's nice to know that serious regressions get marked as 'wishlist'.
I wish Microsoft treated their clients this way--it would sure go a long way
towards solving bug 1.

[Bug 216644] [NEW] set wallpaper via middle click from nautilus does not scale image

2008-04-12 Thread satkata
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

When I try to set an image as a desktop wallpaper like:
drag an image from nautilus via middle click over the desktop the image is not
scaled properly, so I have to go to the background properties and manually
change the scale option for the image (fit, scale, preserve dims., etc.). It is
not such big deal ,but it makes this option useless, as I always have to go the
background properties window and set the image properly.

[Bug 206891] Re: Help -> About gives application name of 'virt-manager.py' rather than Virtual Machine Manager

2008-04-12 Thread Mike MacCana
This error is marked 'wishlist'. Please correct.

A fix is provided below. The problem comes about due GtkAboutDialog
"name" property being deprecated - see
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=496689

The fix is to modify line 9 of /usr/share/virt-manager/vmm-about.glade from the
deprecated:
   Virtual Machine Manager
to:
   Virtual Machine
Manager

Please remove the incorrect wishlist tag and apply the fix above.

[Bug 216643] [NEW] [hardy] firefox does not open objects of type application/x-vlc-plugin with VLC

2008-04-12 Thread Alex Wauck
Public bug reported:

My college offers an IPTV service based on VLC. It's worked well for me
in the past, but now in Hardy, Firefox insists on using Totem to open
the streams. I guess The Real WTF here is that the VLC-based streaming
system is producing streams that Totem (or anything that's not VLC,
really) can't read, but I would like objects defined as application/x
-vlc-plugin to be viewed with the VLC plugin. According to
about:plugins, the VLC plugin does handle that type, and the Totem
plugin does not.

[Bug 216648] [NEW] openoffice misaligned tabstop in bullets and numberings

2008-04-12 Thread shemgp
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org-writer

Description:Ubuntu hardy (development branch)
Release:8.04

openoffice.org-writer: 1:2.4.0-3ubuntu2

I expected that tab stops used in normal paragraphs and paragraphs with
bullets and numberings should be aligned the same way. Just like it was
in openoffice.org 2.3. Instead, on 2.4, a tab stop used in a paragraph
with bullets and numbers is aligned off to the right by how much the
number indents the paragraph.

Here's a quick example on how to reproduce it:
1. Create new document
2. Press F12 to enable numbering
3. Type some letters then press tab
4. Add a tab stop at about the 4th inch mark
5. type some letters
Notice that the tab alignment in the page is not aligned with the tab stop.

[Bug 216641] [NEW] Every window opens at +0,+0

2008-04-12 Thread Neovos
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu Hardy (Development Branch) 8.04

I installed it fresh on a new laptop and this error only showed up after
the very last string of updates (today is 13 April, I think it was
yesterday or 2 days ago)

I can't nail down just whats causing it but it could be but here are the
things that could be involved: compiz, metacity, nautilus, or just the
gnome panel itself.

Whenever I open any window, the top-left corner spawns at 0,0
coordinates. This hides the top window border under the gnome panel
which prevents me from dragging it to a more usable space. I have to use
keyboard shortcuts to move it. What usually happens, is that windows
either: spawn at the location they were last, or they spawn at 0,+25 (or
however big the top gnome panel is) putting them just touching the
panel.

So either:
-the gnome panel isn't communicating it's size to something or
-something isn't remembering the last location of the window

[Bug 216642] [NEW] "About this document" section could be shared across the ubuntu-docs templates

2008-04-12 Thread Артём Попов
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntu-docs

The translation templates for ubuntu-docs:
https://translations.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/hardy/+source/ubuntu-
docs/ currently require translating many identical strings, related to
"About this document" section.

For an example, compare these pages:
https://translations.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/hardy/+source/ubuntu-docs/+pots/about-ubuntu/ru/+translate
https://translations.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/hardy/+source/ubuntu-docs/+pots/add-applications/ru/+translate

Sometimes, this results in different translations across different parts
of ubuntu-docs and is generally inconsistent for a translator - rosetta
always shows this section first.

I propose separating "About this document" section into a different XML-
file with its own translation template, and including it to the
documentation files with XInclude (or similar mechanism).

[Bug 57899] Re: usb-storage devices break the install

2008-04-12 Thread David Wilson
I also ran into this issue with 8.04 Beta. Under 7.10 my hard disk is
/dev/sda (it is a PATA drive on a SIS 5513 controller on the m/b). When
I installed 8.04 Beta the hard drive became /dev/sde with sda..sdd being
the built-in CF/SD/MS/SM reader. Even worse, when I booted 8.04 with a
USB flash drive plugged into the system my hard drive became /dev/sdg
(the flash drive looks like two drives - one 1.44MB and one 128MB)
leading to interesting results from df where /dev/sdg1 was mounted as
/media/sde1. Because of the UUIDs everything mounted properly but I
would really like my boot disk to stay on /dev/sda.

[Bug 216639] [NEW] [Hardy] Different emptying trash dialog from panel trash applet

2008-04-12 Thread Jacob
Public bug reported:

I'm using Ubuntu 8.04 Beta.

When right clicking my Trash icon on the desktop (which i created from
gconf editor) and selecting Empty Trash the trash gets emptied with the
correct dialog, the new GVFS.

When right clicking the trash applet in the panel and selecting empty
trash, it uses the old GnomeVFS dialog.

You can see the differences in the attached screenshots.

I am using the latest updates.

This is marked as "Fix Released", yet it appears that "fonts:///" is
still not working for adding and removing fonts.

The inability of Nautilus to view the fonts directory and install fonts
etc. is related to this bug is it not?

Re: [Bug 60006] Re: Totem, although libdvdcss is installed, says DVD is encrypted

2008-04-12 Thread H.E. Pennypacker
I have gotten this error message once (and it was a while ago)...I now use
Hardy (haven't played any DVDs yet, but if I get any errors, there will be a
separate bug report for it).

I guess this one can be closed due to its old age.

[Bug 206912] Re: Demote vlc and rdepends to multiverse

2008-04-12 Thread John Dong
Martin those are all VLC related or VLC produced. I think those should
all be shoved into multiverse.

"removing non-free bits" would involve disabling almost all encoding
capabilities of VLC, which is

(1) Illogical because some of the VLC-dependent packages are that way because
they want to use its encoder
(2) Undesirable because the encoder is one of the best things that makes VLC
what it is.

[Bug 216629] Re: fglrx incompatible with x1600pro agp

2008-04-12 Thread CalcProgrammer1
Just playing around with it, my Xorg.conf has:

Section "Device"
 Identifier "Configured Video Device"
 Driver "fglrx"
 BusID "PCI:1:00.0"
EndSection

lspci says:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV530 [Radeon X1600]
01:00.1 Display controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV530 [Radeon X1600]
(Secondary)

startx/xinit fails with:

(WW) fglrx: No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:1:0:0) found
(WW) fglrx: No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:1:0:1) found
(EE) No devices detected.

Fatal server error:
no screens found

So, I have a Radeon X1600 (RV530) and fglrx doesn't even know what it
is...that's great. So, how do you get fglrx to detect the card?

[Bug 201483] Re: Upgrade from Gutsy to Hardy Alpha 6 fails after reboot

2008-04-12 Thread Bob Myers
I'm having the same issue with an abit AN52 board that uses the Nvidia chipset.
I thought something got screwed up when I upgraded to Hardy beta from Gutsy
until I tried it with a brand new Alpha 6 livecd install on a different hard
drive. It worked fine until I upgraded to the latest packages.
As a final test I've gone and gotten a Hardy Beta livecd iso and I'm trying one
last time to prove to myself the bug is in Hardy. I'll be upgrading to the
latest packages in a minute and I'll add a comment if anything changes.

[Bug 216635] [NEW] linux-image-2.6.24-16-generic not booting on my Dell Inspiron 530

2008-04-12 Thread martalli
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.24-16-generic

I have a Dell 530n, one of the ubuntu Dells that Dell was selling last
summer. I had a fresh install of Kubuntu Gutsy on it, which I upgraded
about a month ago through the update-manager -d process. The problem I
instantly had was that the computer would refuse to boot with the
2.6.24-16-generic kernel. However, I could still boot into the old
2.6.22 gutsy kernel and everything seems to be working OK. When the
beta came out, I thought I would simply do a fresh install, but the beta
cd refused to boot my computer, even despite the CD's own check process
being fine.

I think there must me something wrong between my computer's hardware and
the 2.6.24 kernel. I have looked through /var/log, int eh dmesg,
messages, kern.log, syslog, and others and cannot find the specific
error message I am seeing.

On bootup, I go through grub just fine, but then the bootsplash screen
just does the Cylon thing for sevral minutes before dropping into an
endless error message. I do have a screenshot of this on photobucket:
http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh60/martalli/img_4651.jpg

This was the error with 2.6.24-15, but the same thing is happening with
the newer kernel. Does anyone have suggestions, or need me to get
further information from the machine?
