[Bug 234510] [NEW] yakuake 2.9.2

2008-05-23 Thread echoes
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: yakuake-kde4

Yakuake 2.9.2 was released on April 23rd, 2008. Please update the
package.

Changelog:
 * The item background in the skin list is now determined by the style engine
if on KDE 4.1 (including pre-release versions) and hence Qt 4.4.
 * Fixed title bar not immediately being updated upon creating a new
single-terminal session.
 * Fixed shortcuts with versions of KDE 4 trunk (4.1) from April 22nd 2008 and
newer. The Konsole KPart now defaults to overriding shortcuts, and Yakuake must
do additional work to continue to receive them.

[Bug 234511] [NEW] Gmail through Evolution

2008-05-23 Thread Roficimo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Trying to set up Evolution mail client to import my gmail account. I've
followed numerous manuals and guides but I keep getting this error
message after setting up my account: Host lookup failed: stmp.gmail.com:
Name or service not known - and it repeats it twice.

Only problem, I KNOW it is not stmp, but rather smtp - and I've checked
it 100 times but that message keeps coming up. So where is it entered
incorrectly. How can I set this right?

Thanks for your assistance.

This is a setting rather than a bug. Please run the command above or in

dont always use the default browser that is installed with

[Bug 222597] Re: [Hardy] skipping sound in vlc

2008-05-23 Thread Cory
Same here. Totem works fine. I really hate to leave VLC. Ubuntu 8.04
32-bit.

Forcing audio output module of "Pulseaudio audio output" doesn't seem to
help. Skips randomly every few seconds on at least .mp3, .wma, .ogg

~/$ lspci |grep -i audio

Do you still see this issue in latest Firefox-2 or Firefox-3 packages in Gutsy
or above repos? Using only the repos taht you have for the version of Ubuntu
that you have.
Latest Firefox-2 is 2.0.0.14
Latest Firefox-3 is 3.0 b5

On Firefox-3.0 in Hardy and Intrepid seem to be fine but i dont speak
Urdu. I have asked a few others to test with Firefox-2 and they said it
reads fine. I will attach a screenshot of it here.

Thank you for the bug report. Could you please install the firefox-dbg
package and try to obtain a backtrace (or crash report) by following the
instructions on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MozillaTeam/Bugs This will
greatly aid us in tracking down your problem.

Which flash package and version do you have installed?
Which Java package and version do you have installed?
Which video player and version do you have installed?
Which firefox extensions and themes do you have installed?

If this happens in Firefox-3.0 the instructions for obtaining a
backtrace are on the same wiki above.

[Bug 204578] Re: 2.6.24.12 won't boot with em28xx device

2008-05-23 Thread MarkusRechberger
this is not needed and mixing up v4l-dvb-kernel or v4l-dvb-experimental with
the precompiled drivers will definitelly break!
You now have to restore your kernel/modules in order to get the media driver
subsystem clean again.

  $ hg clone http://mcentral.de/hg/~mrec/v4l-dvb-kernel
  $ cd v4l-*
  $ make
  $ sudo make install
  $ cd ..

basically you'd just have to click onto:
http://mcentral.de/empiatech/distris/ubuntu/hardy/empia-2.6.24-16-generic-2_i386.deb
in the browser and install it using the installer which pops up.

[Bug 234500] [NEW] Dist Upgrader freezes when presenting "Could not install the upgrades" window

2008-05-23 Thread kwilliam++
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

CONDITIONS: I was upgrading from Kubuntu Gutsy to Kubuntu Hardy via the
Adept Updater's Upgrade Manager. The Upgrade Manager had some issues
upgrading my timidity and virtualbox packages. (I'm pretty sure timidity
failed during configuration due to antiquated bluetooth references in my
ALSA config file, which the new ALSA doesn't like... I had modified the
ALSA config file heavily, so that's a perfectly acceptable corner case.)
Rather than forcing the removal of the timidity and virtualbox-ose
packages, Upgrade Manager presented a window during the "Clean Up" stage
saying, "Could not install the upgrades. The upgrade aborts now. Your
system could be in an unusable state. A recovery will run now (dpkg
--configure -a)."

BUG: The upgrade manager decided to freeze at that moment. I could the
dialog's Close button was unresponsive, and the Report Bug button didn't
even render correctly. (See attached screenshot.) I had to terminate the
entire updater, which I feel was not the intended result of displaying a
polite window saying it would run a recovery procedure. I believe the
desired behavior was it would run dpkg --configure -a, and tell me
either it fixed the problem or I was on my own, and then exit politely.

RANDOM NOTE: I had to kill the upgrader, and manually remove the
offending packages before running sudo apt-get install -f and rebooting.
Aside from freezing at this last stage, the update went very smoothly!
(Sound, bluetooth, X, wireless, Flash... haven't found anything broken
yet. Way to go Ubuntu Team!)

[Bug 204578] Re: 2.6.24.12 won't boot with em28xx device

2008-05-23 Thread Qin Gao
After installing the deb file, the card is recognized without any
complain, but when using MythTV or Kaffine, it will die directly.

Here is exactly what I done:

 $ hg clone http://mcentral.de/hg/~mrec/v4l-dvb-kernel
 $ cd v4l-*
 $ make
 $ sudo make install
 $ cd ..
 $ wget

 $ sudo dpkg -i empia-2.6.24-16-generic-2_i386.deb

Whenever MythTV or Kaffine wants to access the card, it will complain.
MythTV will also quit without showing anything when choosing "add new
card".

[Bug 201017] Re: firefox - bad viewing gmail

2008-05-23 Thread Prodigious Penguin
Does this problem still occur in Firefox 3 beta 5 (the version that
comes in the full release of Hardy)? Since most people have been unable
to reproduce this bug, I will assume that it has been fixed and close
the report unless you are still having the problem.

[Bug 234099] Re: [Hardly] Opening the lid, the monitor doesn't go on

2008-05-23 Thread Prodigious Penguin
This might be a stupid question, but have you tried using the function
keys to cycle through your laptop's monitor modes?

Are you able to drop down to a tty on the laptop to restart X, or have
you been restarting X over SSH?

  The Toolbar button has a green tree on it, and is for adding images. Clicking
this button brings up a dialog box for adding images.
  There should be 2 buttons at the bottom of the popup - to Update or Cancel.
These are missing in FF 3 Beta 5 - but present in Firefox 2.

  Result - images cannot be added using the image button.
