[Bug 234732] [NEW] Upgrade gutsy - hardy, faled for packages: samba-common, smbclient, ubuntu-desktop, bash-completion
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: samba While upgrading from Gutsy 64x to Hardy, Distribution Upgrade hangs at packages samba-common and bash-completion. The top command indicates extensive CPU and swap usage by ucf. After I press Ctrl-C the upgrade continues. Please see also screen-shots and system log files attached with this report. This problem is reproduced each time I try to run an upgrade (from fresh installation of Gutsy). When I try to install Hardy 64x directly, rather than running an upgrade, the installation hangs as well but there's less possibilities to gather system information. [Bug 207072] Re: nautilus does not display samba shares for machines inside an ADS network.
I swapped in the smb-browse binary from comment 28. Seems to work, but the only thing is it doesn't do is to save the passwords into the keyring. Another big problem I discovered was that if you bookmark any windows server (eg. smb://server ) that requires password in nautilus, you will SLOW DOWN your save/save as/open dialogs in programs such as gimp, openoffice, and practically any gtk programs. It will take around 5 seconds for the dialog to appear. When I removed those bookmarks, the save/save as/open file dialogs became zippy again. Having the actual share bookmarked (eg. smb://server/share) doesnt slow things down. I think i may have the same problem. At first i thought it was just crashing about 10 seconds in. You can get debugging symbols for torcs from synaptic after adding this repository: deb http://ddebs.ubuntu.com gutsy main universe I have debugging symbols now but I cant figure out how to get gdb to debug it :S When i was trying to debug it i found that the bin file its accessing is a script that initiates torcs and tells it where all the libs are etc. In that same file it said something about debugging torcs with -d option. So i did that and I'm adding output as attachment. Maybe it has the backtrace you want? It seems this isn't a bug, but an error on my behalf; I read the documentation on most homepages and guides for creating new virtual machines using virt-install implies that the --accelerate flag requires KVM to work - but reading the man-page, it enables *any* acceleration it may find, being KVM, KQEMU or none at all. [Bug 234725] [NEW] mpd failes to start after a reboot: error parsing state file /var/lib/mpd/state
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: mpd I am using Ubuntu 8.04 (upgraded from dapper) and mpd-version 0.13.1-3ubuntu1. When I restart mpd (/etc/init.d/mpd restart), all works fine, but when I reboot the machine, mpd failes to start. For a test, I startet mpd by hand: sudo mpd --stdout, which gave me the following output: No audio_output defined in config file Attempt to detect audio output device Attempting to detect a alsa audio device Successfully detected a alsa audio device error parsing state file /var/lib/mpd/state The file /var/lib/mpd/state lookes like this: --- audio_device_state:1:default detected output state: play current: 2901 time: 213 random: 1 repeat: 0 crossfade: 3 playlist_begin --- if I add a line playlist_end at the end of the file, mpd starts. It is a little bit confusing, because the boot process should only execute the mpd init script. Re: [Bug 218000] Re: XRandR Rotation with -intel doesn't work with compiz [x3100]
I don't think this is the case. I have the same problem running kwin-kde4 with the graphical effects turned on. [Bug 71837] Re: Fatal error on Palm during synchronization with Evolution
Ms.Kai Complete details. Bug #108512, first reported on 2007-04-2 This is the bug I am talking about, and it is occurring on Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron 05-25-2008. This is on a fresh install of the Hardy Heron final release with all upgrades. I'm connecting my Sony Clie to my computer via cradle and usb. In Hardy the gnome-pilot device settings tried: /dev/pilot /dev/ttyUSB0 /dev/ttyUSB1 /dev/ttyS0 and /dev/ttyS1 /dev/ttyUSB0 and /dev/ttyUSB1. In Hardy I get no connection when I press the sync button on the cradle (although the info appears in System-Preferences-Hardware Manager just fine). Instead, I receive the following error dialog: Failed to connect using device `cradle', on port `/dev/ttyUSB0'. Check your configuration, as you requested old-style usbserial `ttyUSB' syncing, but do not have the usbserial `visor' kernel module loaded. You may need to select a `usb:' device. I can see in gnome-pilot-Devices-Edit-Device where I can select usb:, but using this setting fails to make any connection at all. Before starting gnome-pilot, open a terminal and type: sudo modprobe visor to load the visor module. Then start gnome-pilot and initiate sync from the cradle, as usual, and everything should work (it did for me). done -- Fatal error on Palm during synchronization with Evolution https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/71837 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 234737] [NEW] Nagios-mysql installation fails unless gcc is installed
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nagios-mysql Just yesterday I tried to install nagios-mysql. The installation failed, and some files were missing. A manual fix required to find out what is required. Reading the nagios manuals I found out that nagios requires gcc to be installed - the ubuntu package does not. I was able to fix that with uninstall nagios-mysql and related packages, install gcc and install nagios-mysql. BTW, the nagios that gets installed is v1.4 while the nagios homepage offers 3.0.
