[Bug 234768] Re: periodic Xorg crashes w/ high cpu usage after OpenGL screensaver [965GM]

2008-05-26 Thread mnemo
After about an hour of CPU hogging pain with the new driver I reverted
to the old Hardy driver. I then change my power options to say that
Never blank out screen and I also set my screensaver timeout to 1
minute. Then I went to sleep. I just woke up and this bug had
reproduced. I believe I can actually get this bug to repro whenever I
want, the only thing I have to do is to leave the busy spheres
screensaver on without setting the screen to blank out.

When I got back to the machine this morning I found it hung but the
graphics was not yet corrupted. When I checked the already attached gdb
from ssh the program had received a SIGABRT with the following
backtrace:

(gdb) bt full

(gdb)

At this point I used the c command to resume execution and the
computer then went into the corrupted graphics defect mode and then it
printed this in gdb:

Program terminated with signal SIGABRT, Aborted.
The program no longer exists.

After this the computer hung in exactly the same way that I was
originally. Even could I could not execute anymore commands in gdb, I
could clearly see the X.org process still alive and taking 100% CPU.

[Bug 234580] Re: Please sync sword 1.5.9-8.1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2008-05-26 Thread Daniel Holbach
If you read the changelog you will notice the word Fakesync which
means manal upload, just changing the changelog entry (and maintainer
field) - this is necessary when for example the .orig.tar.gz between
Ubuntu and Debian differ (md5sum differences are enough). It might worth
finding out why it's necessary and do a fakesync.

[Bug 229745] Re: after fix for #215728 - Committing to urlclassifier3.sqlite still causes excessive CPU usage and disk I/O (the 2nd)

2008-05-26 Thread R (Chandra) Chandrasekhar
I have had recent loss of responsiveness in fifefox-3.0b5. Today I
experienced about three minutes of non-repsonsiveness with high CPU load
of about 70% and disk I/O. It seems that this time the file

places.sqlite

is being written to. It size is currently

8626176 2008-05-26 14:13 places.sqlite

FYI, urlclassifier3.sqlite has been stable and still is

52752384 2008-05-26 13:58 urlclassifier3.sqlite

If I do

dpkg -l | grep xulrunner

I get

ii xulrunner 1.8.1.13+nobinonly-0ubuntu1 XUL + XPCOM application runner
ii xulrunner-1.9 1.9~b5+nobinonly-0ubuntu4~8.04.0mt1 XUL + XPCOM application
runner

Do I need to remove the first one by any chance.

Are there any workarounds for this?

Thanks.

[Bug 234908] [NEW] window content disappears after receiving a (k)mail using kdm in Hardy

2008-05-26 Thread lorubenet
Public bug reported:

Hi there!

I have found a strange but annoying bug since I work with Hardy (I didn't have
this problem in Feisty). First I thought it was related to kdm4 but I changed
it back to kdm and it is still there. The desktop I use is kde3 (though I have
kde4 installed as well).
I am working using Konqueror (doxygen) and gvim, and I receive an email (a pop
up tells me that). I go to kmail to read it (in a different desktop) and when I
go back to the desktop with Konqueror and gvim the content inside their windows
has disappeared. In Konqueror it is black and when one scrolls up and down the
contents usually come back (sometimes I cannot even scroll on that tab). In
gvim is similar (but white), rescaling the window refreshes its contents. On
top of that, when a window gets on top of gvim, the text below that window
disappears when one gets back to gvim. This lasts for few minutes usually,
afterwards everything works as normal. But sometimes I have to restart gvim.

I think it happens as well when I receive an email with evolution (ghhgh
due to M$ exchange...). So I believe it has something to do with the pop
up window that tells the email has arrived.

More strangely, firefox is not affected by that (I think the konsole
is). And I think is not happening in every single email.

I don't know exactly which information should I provide...
I have nvidia graphics card on a dell laptop. Kde 3.5.9 (I upgrade regularly).
I do not have any desktop effects (well... as far as I know). XServer: X.org,
Version Number 11.0

I can survive with it, but any help is welcome! and hey, we have to contribute
polishing this still rough ends in Kubuntu, don't we?
All the best,
Ruben
