@Hewus: If menu will be the standard for that in the future, say in Intrepid, then it will certainly be o.k, and maybe a better solution than now. But currently, this would be a weird exception. Everything else uses gksu in their .desktop files on Ubuntu, be it wireshark-comparable tools like ettercap or etherape, or system tools like synaptic, gparted or display-config. Just grep for gksu resp. su-to-root in your /usr/share/applications and see what I mean. This should not be decided on a per package basis, but by policy, and at the moment, either policy or best practice seems to be to use gksu. So I would prefer at least to include it with the same functionality as in Gutsy without mandatory recommendation/dependencies on another package with no other use for. I agree with you, that a dependency on menu is not the right thing to do, because there may be one or the other, who only want to use wireshark to analyze logs or don't use the menu entries at all. So I would either prefer to stay with gksu, as it was in Gutsy and as other packages do it, or use gksu, su-to-root and maybe kdesudo as multiple working alternatives, like explained above. gksu is already included in ubuntu-, xubuntu-, edubuntu- and gobuntu- desktop, and if you install recommended packages per default, as you say is the way to do, even many KDE users would have it already on their systems. Ma carte graphique : Leadtek PX7300GS TDH 256 Je n'utilise pas de pilotes propriétaires. Essai d'hibernation avec Pilote d'accélération graphique nVidia -> Non utilisé. Autre essai d'hibernation avec Pilote nVidia -> en cours d'utilisation. Dans les deux cas, l'ordinateur s'éteint. Dans les deux cas, pour sortir d'hibernation le bouton ''Power'' lance le processus jusqu'au chargement d'Ubuntu (affichage avec curseur), et là tout reste figé. Je suis obligé de faire un reset pour relancer Ubuntu. Processus de lancement normal, mais je ne récupère pas mes applications et fenêtres dans l'état où je les avais laissées. Je suis en dual boot avec Windows. Windows et Ubuntu sur 2 DD indépendants. La mise en hibernation fonctionne parfaitement sous Windows. Lu sur Forum Ubuntu nombre de posts concernant le non-fonctionnement de l'hibernation. Double click on flac files and they play in the movie player. Double click on the mp3 files and they play in Rhythmbox. Double click on the wma files and Rythmbox gets an import error. Could you post which paths are being scanned? I was getting a similar crash. One of my paths was $MOZILLA_HOME/plugins When I removed it, nspluginscan no longer crashed. I'm guessing this is because $MOZILLA_HOME is not set. You might have a similar problem. And see, i connect my cam and it works, i can access it under kde 4.1 beta with dolphin 4 and konqueror 4. Didn't try kamera ( i dont even know if a backport kamera 4 exists). After upgrade to Hardy, I found xine was broken for DVD playing (there is no plugin to handle dvd:/...), and kaffeine could not find the libdvdcss2 library, which I had to re-install. I changed the settings in the xine gui from dev/dvd to dev/scd0 and it worked fine. But Kaffiene still wont recognize the libdvdcss2 that is installed, and wont play :-(. After reporting that this bug also occurs on my machine (2008-06-04) I deactivated the Desktop Effects, which prevented the crashes in my case. Just out of curiosity I re-activated the Desktop Effects again today, and guess what: the problem did not occur any more! However, if the package in the PPA solved your mouse-jumping problem, than the bug was in the way that Alltray handled windows _before_, so that's fixed at least, and that would make this bug a symptom of bug 106583, which means that this issue is a duplicate. One other thing is that Alltray generally operates with the assumption that there will be window borders. There is some xmms-specific exception to this rule, from what I've seen while working in the sources, but I haven't had the chance to investigate that any further than simply knowing of its existence. If the window decorations are an issue, though, that would be a separate bug. On a totally unrelated note, I do find it interesting that you'd want gkrellm hidden... [Bug 240217] [NEW] alsa mixer will not start
