Re: [Bug 240519] Re: sybase_* functions missing in php5-sybase for hardy
Well, you solution is working, but wrong one. The real reason why sybase module installs mssql.so is they are really (almost) the same - they use same library to access database. With one small exception - mssql module is better maintained and provides pdo version, and works better in some cases. That was reason to do the switch in Debian. I am not really sure why Steve didn't provide aliases from sybase to mssql function, but my patch should ensure it. I'll commit it into Debian svn and it will propage into next version of Ubuntu as well. Ondrej. 2008/6/18 Paul McLanahan [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Solution: Ok... so I installed the php5 source package apt-get source php5 I decided to just give the extension in ext/sybase a try before applying any patches. cd ext/sybase phpize configure make sudo make install After that it was a simple matter of adding a sybase.ini file to /etc/php5/conf.d with the contents extension=sybase.so I then restarted apache2 and it works :) I'm still a bit confused as to why the php5-sybase package installs the mssql.so module, and the php5-mssql package is a virtual for php5-sybase. But it is working for me now, and hopefully the people who need this info can find it here. Thanks again for the help Ondřej and Chuck! [Bug 220463] Re: unable to boot linux vm's that are not Debian derived.
After more investigation, it seems the bug is in neither with kvm nor vgabios. The problem seems to be with the way libvirt is invoking kvm/qemu. Trying to install Fedora 9 onto a VM using virt-install results in the Attempted DOS System Call error, but I can manually create the VM without virt-install and the installer works fine. Manual Steps: 1. I created the disk image: qemu-img create fedora.img 2G 2. I booted the ISO using kvm directly: kvm -cdrom Fedora-9-i386-disc1.iso -boot d fedora.img In case the problem was with virt-install and not libvirt, I tried modifying the XML defining my fedora VM manually so it booting from the ISO... and again, same Attempted DOS System Call error, which again suggest the bug is in libvirt. The sf bug #1977971 regarding kvm makes it clear that this is not really a bug but an issue of incorrect invocation. Perhaps a workaround will be added to kvm, but libvirt should be fixed to invoke it correctly. -- unable to boot linux vm's that are not Debian derived. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/220463 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

After initial succesful login and issuing some commands that require more output (like find /), ssh connection is terminated (freezes). Similary after initial http request on a server main page appears, but clicking on some internal links does not work - again connection is terminated. It seems like all connections get dropped after being more active. If I just leave connection open or issue commands that dont' generate much data (like just ls) connection stays healthy. It is not VPN server problem (checked with other computers) nor a ssh or http problem (also checked). I am using default options which pptp plugin offers (worked in 7.10). [Bug 226801] Re: Totem Mp3 Seek
In case anyone is still encountering this problem, I've also recently run into it. I still haven't determined what causes the problem, but my guess would be it chooses some unusual plugin that can decode mp3 but can't handle seeking, rather than a more common one that can do both. I've specifically noticed, it seems only to do it to some mp3 files (those that file identifies as 'RIFF (little-endian) data, WAVE audio, MPEG Layer 3'). File incorrectly identifies a lot of my other mp3s as data or correctly as 'Audio File ... with MP3 encoding', and these totem doesn't seem to have a problem with. I hope that helps in some way... -- Totem Mp3 Seek https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/226801 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 222602] Re: OpenOffice.org 2.4 doesn't pass printer-specific arguments to printer driver
I've tried this on several Systems including Dapper Drake with OOo 2.0. Every tested version of OOo has this problem but neither KDE- nor Gnome-applications. Normally the printer options should be forwarded to the cups filter (specified in the PPD file) as arg $5. But OOo doesn't do this. So this problem only affects printer who need a cups filter. [Bug 174191] Re: screensavers cause high CPU usage
This method is pretty real world, but it will cycle through the savers at random so you need to let it run a long time before you have covered all the savers.
