[Bug 247152] Re: incorrect window manager shown as selected
I can confirm this bug. The same problem occurs when you use "metacity --replace" or "compiz --replace". fusion-icon does not recognize which window manager is actually running, it just keeps its old value. [Bug 217846] Re: Slow suspend/resume in Hardy
Here the /etc/network/interfaces is not involved in slow resume after suspend to RAM, so the proposed workaround doesn't help. When resuming my Acer Aspire 3104 WLMi, my hard disk always works like crazy for at least 1 minute before I at least get the screen backlight to light again, and still more before I eventually get the screensaver unlock prompt. After resumed I notice the swap is highly used (at least 400 MB) even if it was almost empty when I suspended. The machine has 1 GB RAM and 2 GB swap, and I have no clue about why it happens only with this laptop : I have several Kubuntu Hardy laptops, and only this one shows such a resume behaviour, the fastest one being a Dell XPS M1330 on which resuming is really completely intantaneous. -- Slow suspend/resume in Hardy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/217846 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 227180] Re: scim problem under kubuntu hardy (kde 3.5.9)
It seems that katapult does not work with the static event flow. Please do the following: 1. vi (or your favourite text editor) ~/.scim/config 2. find the line /FrontEnd/X11/Dynamic = false 3. change "false" to "true" (without the quotation marks) 4. save the file 5. make it read-only: chmod -w ~/.scim/config 6. restart X (ctrl-alt-backspace) Step 5 is necessary because if the file is not read-only, sometimes the system (maybe the scim configuration panel) changes the setting back to false. You can repeat these steps 1-4 for the /etc/scim/config file, which, if I understood correctly, is the "template" for the config files in the users' directories. You have to be root to do that, though. Honestly, I have no idea why the event flow is not dynamic ("true") by default, as static has all kinds of problems. Input sometimes freezes in applications, etc. I don't understand why do the user have to go to the console and do the im-switch-ing manually either... -- scim problem under kubuntu hardy (kde 3.5.9) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/227180 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 247169] [NEW] When two users with X sessions run kde-guidance-powermanager with automatic suspend, sometimes system suspends again immediately after restart or switching to another user
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kde-guidance-powermanager Release Kubuntu 8.04.1, package kde-guidance-powermanager 0.8.0svn20080103-0ubuntu16.1, source package kde-guidance I have always two X sessions logged in --- mine and my wife's. Both have kde-guidance-powermanager running, with automatic suspend after 8 or 12 minutes (different times on different accounts, tried with both 10 minutes, too). Two symptoms: 1) When I have used the laptop from my own account, and my wife starts using hers with K-menu -> Switch user, the laptop suspends immediately when her session is activated. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kmail I have a folder in KMail that I use for archiving old e-mails. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I am changing the package to acpi-support'. Please include the following additional information on the latest release Hardy 8.04, as required by the Ubuntu Kernel Team: 1. Please include the output of the command "uname -a" in your next response. It should be one, long line of text which includes the exact kernel version you're running, as well as the CPU architecture. 2. Please run the command "dmesg > dmesg.log" after a fresh boot and attach the resulting file "dmesg.log" to this bug report. 3. Please run the command "sudo lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.log" and attach the resulting file "lspci-vvnn.log" to this bug report. (note "vv" not 'w") 4. [Bug 101936] Re: [apport] prboom crashed with SIGSEGV in free()
If the user already has midi configured, installing Timidity wouldn't mess that up, right? But at the very least, wouldn't prboom start using Timidity instead of the user-configured midi? However... Maybe it's just me, but since I've never seen hardware midi working out of the box, I'm thinking that maybe it's just far easier to make Timidity or some kind of midi emulator and sound bank be a dependency of any program which requires midi. Not only does it seem like out-of-the- box hardware midi device support is a pretty long way away from being a reality, but midi emulation doesn't take much CPU power. I have an old processor, and prboom runs wonderfully with Timidity installed (aside from a few bugs here and there that the game has). -- [apport] prboom crashed with SIGSEGV in free() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/101936 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I'm seeing the same thing here, on multiple machines, all Hardy x86 with all the updates applied. I have seen this issue with one other app: SAOimage ds9. Launching ds9 from the menu produces the tiny vertical window you can see (with low opacity) floating over this post I'm typing. I suspect it is due to a bad interaction between Compiz and Motif (perhaps Compiz is ignoring WM hints from Motif?) [Bug 241737] Re: I cannot hear any sound from my ubuntu installation
It unfortunately appears that this bug is not yet resolved. The Intrepid Ibex 8.10 Alpha2 is scheduled for release today. It will appear at the following when available: http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/intrepid/alpha2 . It contains the the actively developed 2.6.26 Ubuntu kernel. It would be great if you could test this upcoming release via a LiveCD and verify if the issue still exists. If the issue is still there, please attach the same logs as they appear when running from the live cd. Thanks in advance. -- I cannot hear any sound from my ubuntu installation https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/241737 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 230019] Re: package compiz fusion icon
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Could you please provide details of your issue in English? The problem has been reported under compiz-fusion-bcop, but the title suggests it's an issue with fusion-icon. Are you able to reproduce the problem? Does it occur with up-to-date Hardy?
