[Bug 274150] [NEW] kmail doesn't include online help
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kdepim should kmail perhaps recommend kdepim-doc? For someone looking for a small install without extra bells and whistles (ie kalarm [sic]) installing the whole kdepim package is overkill, but it is a bit shocking when going to the help menu and getting an error message. I meant doing nothing other than turning the computer on and walking away while it goes through it's boot cycle. [Bug 274147] [NEW] Stop using obsolete sonypi for Sony Vaio laptops
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: hotkey-setup Sonypi is obsolete module. At least that is written in drivers/misc/sony-laptop.c module. They both control same thing, but sony-laptop can support modern controllers also. it has compatibility option. SonyPI does not do anything on my vaio FZ210C, but sony-laptop does. [Bug 272474] Re: jockey silently fails to enable nvidia driver
After running "jockey-gtk -e", jockey downloads the correct package and installs it. That process is very visible in the GUI. So "dpkg -l" shows nvidia-glx-96 as being installed. If I enable the 71 driver, then it would remove 96 and install 71. Since I did not enable the nvidia driver, I deleted my xorg.conf to launch X in the fail-safe mode. Re: [Bug 272841] Re: Login Screen times out Feisty Fawn
Hello -- I meant that I do nothing at all. Sometimes I'll hit the start button on my computer(s), then do something else while it goes through the boot cycle. If I leave it for too long, (probably the default screen-sleep/suspend/hibernate setting 5-10min), then come back to it, wake up the screen by moving the mouse or entering a space on the space-bar, and enter my user-name, I get the results described in my report. It's not really a problem. It's just not very flattering to the OS. Thanks. [Bug 226981] Re: Hardy: FN-up/down keys change brightness too rapidly on DELL XPS m1330
Two additions to my previous comment: The original bug involved the nvidia nVidia 8400M GS chip, I am experiencing the bug on a Dell XPS 1330 with intel x3100 integrated card. The blacklisting of the video module, which now is not working anymore as a temporary fix, was never an optimal solution because gnome-power- manager in ubuntu 8.04 was setting the the brightness levels when switching from ac to battery and vice versa often incorrectly. In essence, brightness management on xps m1330 has been broken since ubuntu 7.10. If I can give more useful and specific output, just let me know. [Bug 252174] Re: gvfsd-trash crashed with SIGSEGV in g_main_context_dispatch()
not sure if I should still submit this - but seeing as it happened when I ran Update Manager, I reckon it is important to fix. [Bug 272171] Re: Firefox should not steal focus when told by another application to open a link
Mackenzie - I can't actually reproduce this bug at all on my machine. For me, Firefox never steals focus when I click on links in Evolution, regardless of which workspaces the two applications are on. I'm not sure that this is a Firefox bug as opposed to a window manager bug. This behaviour is actually configurable in Compiz (focus stealing prevention) by changing the gconf key "/apps/compiz/general/screen0/options/focus_prevention_level" to a value of between 0 (Off) and 3 (Very High). A value of 0 means that windows will always steal focus. A value of 3 means that windows will never steal focus. The default value is 1. With this setting, I can't get Firefox to steal focus when clicking on a link in Evolution. If I set it to 0, then Firefox always steals focus. I don't think Metacity has an equivalent setting. -- Firefox should not steal focus when told by another application to open a link https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/272171 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 274135] [NEW] [Intrepid] Alpha 6 desktop CD - can't use as respository and get autorun error
Public bug reported: In installed Alpha 5. Then when I'd downloaded the Alpha 6 CD, I wanted to use it as a repository source instead of download the upgrade over the internet. However, when I added it as a repository and unchecked the others, reloaded, and asked Update Manager to check for new updates, it didn't find any. Before I'd changed the repository sources, Update Manager was wanting to do a partial upgrade with about 300-400 MB of packages to download. Also, when I inserted the CD and it mounted, it asked if I wanted to use the automount dialog (I can't remember the exact wording now and I can't check because I've given the CD to someone else). I said yes but then it said it couldn't find the autorun file. Either it needs the autorun file (if that's the intended behaviour, which seems likely), or the messages need to be suppressed on Linux. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [Intrepid] Alpha 6 desktop CD - can't use as respository and get autorun error https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/274135 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 262927] Re: Boot hangs at Starting bluetooth (kernel 2.6.27-1 and -2) if device connected
I have done some more testing and found that: if I boot without the pvrusb2 connected, then connect after login it does NOT load the firmware into the Hauppauge device as it should. If I then turn on my external USB HDD it will not register, so maybe the problem is in the usbcore module, like the usb devices are not registered anymore. Normally at every connect/disconnect the usbcore will log a message, but the does not happens anymore. I reboot again without both pvrusb2 and usb hdd connected, then connect the usb hdd, it register and works, then connect the pvrusb2 and now the firmware loads, but still does not work and the /dev/video0 and /dev/radio0 devices is still not created. -- Boot hangs at Starting bluetooth (kernel 2.6.27-1 and -2) if device connected https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/262927 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
