[Bug 274874] [NEW] feature request: gnome-system-log shoud be used as a front end for logrotate.conf
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-utils Naturally since the logs viewed in gnome-system-log are kept based on the rules set in etc/logrotate.conf, I think gnome-system-log needs to be able to set a preference on the number of days/weeks the admin would like to keep logs. The calendar functionality is great, but it indicates this feature which is lacks a front end for configuration, I don't think we need the fine grain control that logrotate.conf offers, but at least minimal configuration. [Bug 274715] Re: System Cleaner Does Not Refresh Following Cleaning
Found the reason for this: system-cleaner-gtk didn't refresh the apt.Cache() instance it has after it had removed packages. It still crashes for me with 2.24.0-0ubuntu1 with the following information in a terminal: The program 'totem' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'. [Bug 274870] [NEW] Xorg should keep more rotated logs
Public bug reported: Currently Xorg keeps only its current log and old older one. While this is normally fine, there are situations where logs from a failed run can disappear (e.g. the first run wedges your graphics hardware, so the subsequent runs from GDM fail for different reasons and leave unhelpful logs. GDM tries several times, so the original log will be lost). While that is indeed a rare corner case, given how small they are, I think it's probably worth keeping 5 or 6 old logs. There may be other situations where being able to compare several runs, or pull an error out of an older log, are useful. ** Affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Importance: Wishlist Status: New ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Wishlist -- Xorg should keep more rotated logs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/274870 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

you should look at the list of the evolution uploads in hardy-updates before adding such comments, evolution had several updates and backports since hardy but GNOME has over 80 packages and there is tiny team working to triage all the bugs, do the intrepid updates and backport fixes to hardy. doing a fix backport is quite some work and backport the hundred of intrepid changes is not an option, this bug is a graphical detail, you are the only one who complained about it in years and it's easy to workaround so it's low priority for a stable update, now you are welcome to contribute by working on the stable update if you want but blaming overworked contributors to not work enough is not likely to bring you anything there -- Tasks preview are not word-wrapped https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/261789 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Could you also please provide any information requested in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingACPI which you haven't already provided (I think it is just the output of dmidecode and the contentsof /proc/acpi which is outstanding) Alex Lopez - After comparing your call trace to Ed's and geraldo's, it seems your oops occurs in a slightly different place. This bug cuts both ways; it may be a GVFS bug in that Firefox is expecting the GtkFileChooser to reverse map all URIs into paths (which is made possible by this commit http://svn.gnome.org/viewvc/gvfs?view=revision&revision=2031), or whether Firefox is doing its own URI magic (either GnomeVFS or some other system of its own). [Bug 274865] [NEW] [intrepid alpha]power applet incorrect status when plugged in
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-applets When I plug in my laptop, the battery icon in the systray remains on the unplugged status, as the screenshot demonstrates. I expected the plugged-in icon to appear. The tooltip says: "Computer is running is running on AC power. [Bug 256048] Re: Loading PDF file hang on Loading...
I'm new to the evince code but I thought I should share what I found out. I noticed that the rendering job somehow gets cancelled and the page then just shows that it is "Loading..." here's my stacktrace: ev-jobs.c: ev_job_cancel ev-pixbuf-cache.c: copy_job_to_job_info ev-pixbuf-cache.c: ev_pixbuf_cache_get_link_mapping ev-view.c: ev_view_get_link_at_location ev-view.c: ev_view_handle_cursor_over_xy ev-view.c: ev_view_motion_notify_event <- gets called when the mouse moves, here we go... copy_job_to_job_info cancels the job because the "job_info->job" object still exists. it normally gets destroyed the moment the idle calls emit_finished (ev-jobs.c), but this hasn't happend yet. In the ev-pixbuf-cache.c you'll find several comments like this: /* We don't need to wait for the idle to handle the callback */. I think you do have to wait for the callback or you have to clean the job_info->job before calling copy_info_to_job. Otherwise the job gets cancelled and that's what causes this bug. I don't have the big picture so I won't commit anything but I hope this helps resolving this annoying bug.. [Bug 274859] [NEW] python is missing dependency on binutils
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: python2.5 As of 2.5, python includes a function: ctypes.util.find_library for finding dynamic libraries. On Linux, this is implemented by calling objdump under the hood. objdump in ubuntu comes from binutils, ergo python now has a dependency on binutils. [Bug 274459] Re: Copy & paste from Konqueror to thunderbird does not work at all
I can confirm that I have the same problem. The only difference is that I can use the middle mouse button to paste into thunderbird, but I cannot use paste using Ctrl-V or from the Edit menu. What I copy from Konqueror can be pasted into other applications. I have tested this using konqueror 4:4.1.1-0ubuntu1~hardy1~ppa1 together with 2.0.0.16+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.04.1 (both in Hardy) and konqueror 4:4.1.1-0ubuntu2 together with 2.0.0.17+nobinonly-0ubuntu1 (in Intrepid) I have not tested if this problem occurs with some other programs too. ** Changed in: kdebase-kde4 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed -- Copy & paste from Konqueror to thunderbird does not work at all https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/274459 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 274820] Re: Sugar feature freeze exception
What packages are involved? Can you provide build and install logs for all of them? Will there be any removal or new source/binary involved (I see the sugar source for instance will only provide one binary against the 3 of the current Ubuntu package)? ** Changed in: sugar (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- Sugar feature freeze exception https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/274820 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
