[Bug 301542] [NEW] Bypass auth checks in Nagios (CVE-2008-5027, CVE-2008-5028)
*** This bug is a security vulnerability *** Public security bug reported: Binary package hint: nagios3 CVE 2008-5027 The Nagios process in (1) Nagios before 3.0.5 and (2) op5 Monitor before 4.0.1 allows remote authenticated users to bypass authorization checks, and trigger execution of arbitrary programs by this process, via an (a) custom form or a (b) browser addon. [Bug 227229] Re: LDAP and AD connection problem with hardy
Intrepid has a different nss-ldap configuration than hardy. There is a deamon nslcd in the package libnss-ldapd, which has its own config file /etc/nss-ldapd.conf with a different syntax (not compatible to Hardy's /etc/ldap.conf). I use the following filter statement for the groups. I am not an ldap expert, so maybe there is a better one. filter group ((objectClass=group)(msSFU30GidNumber=*)) -- LDAP and AD connection problem with hardy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/227229 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libnss-ldap in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 301581] [NEW] Please merge dnsmasq 2.46-1 (main) from Debian unstable (main)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: dnsmasq Debian changes: * New upstream. (closes: #499162) (closes: #499007) * Remove from init script start-stop-daemon call to kill child processes. This is not needed since dnsmasq is carefully written to kill child processes, and it interacts badly with private instances of dnsmasq. (closes: #505523) * Provide /etc/dnsmasq.d and alter the installed /etc/default/dnsmasq so that /etc/dnsmasq.d is read. [Bug 286828] Re: Access to samba 3.0.24-3.0.25 shares using CIFS is broken on 8.10
Another workaround: set msdfs root = no on affected shares or in the [global] section of smb.conf. If you don't use DFS at all you can also disable it completely with host msdfs = no. This also made UNIX extensions finally work. Note that I had to remount all shares to get things working. I don't use DFS, so I can't tell what effect mixing DFS shares with non-DFS shares will have. This approach has the advantage that you don't need any changes on the client side, even when the nodfs option will be available - useful if you have a lot of clients to fix. -- Access to samba 3.0.24-3.0.25 shares using CIFS is broken on 8.10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/286828 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

dnsmasq 2.46-1 (soon in an archive near you) implements a /etc/dnsmasq.d directory that allows to drop configuration snippets from other packages. This opens ways for more collaboration between the two packages. In Tomcat 5.5 the default database connection pool factory class is 'org.apache.commons.dbcp.BasicDataSourceFactory', included in commons- dbcp.jar. So, the applications that didn't specify the dbcp factory class (the great majority, I guess) worked with no problems using tomcat 5.5 without tomcat-dbcp.jar in the 'commons/lib' folder. The problem is that starting from Tomcat 6, the default database connection pool factory class is 'org.apache.tomcat.dbcp.dbcp.BasicDataSourceFactory' included in tomcat-dbcp.jar, so all the applications that expects to work with Tomcat's default database connection pool factory will fail if tomcat-dbcp.jar is not in the classpath. -- tomcat6 does not include tomcat-dbcp.jar https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/283852 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to tomcat6 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 249751] Re: [needs-packaging] LVE - Linux Video Editor
An extract from the link https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=4758502 includes the following; There is one big advantage of LVE, though: it has a real preview, i.e. you can watch the video you are about to edit, including sound. ProjextX allows for browsing throught the movie, but offers no preview/play possibility and doesn't play sound either. Furthermore LVE outputs a simple MPEG file whereas in ProjectX you have to use mplex (http://mjpeg.sourceforge.net) or similar tools for multiplexing the edited video (.m2v) and audio (.mpa) files together. No where on that page did it say that the project is dead. It is also dated as (2008-02-04) ; RE: (k)ubuntu 7.10 Install By: Jürgen Lange (lamprete) - 2008-02-04 12:38 so the link that has been exampled earlier (ie http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?forum_id=336768) shows there has been plenty of forum activity between then and well after that date. [Bug 274995] Re: MASTER storing ALSA mixer element values during shutdown hangs nondeterministically if non-loopback network interfaces are still up
I am afraid I have some mixed results. The bug no longer occurs on my laptop as I am now running enlightenment 16 with esd and have removed most of gnome and it's glug - including Pulseaudio. My problem is solved. The bug is still present on my Father's computer (73 years old and wanting to learn the terminal! My Dad that is, not the pc). I tried killing pulseaudio while logged in to an X session, and it still hung while shutting down. I tried adding localhost.localdomain and the hostname to the local ip in /etc/hosts. No effect, so I put localhost under IPV6 as a temp fix. Conclusions? Even though I hashed out the Xsession script for pulseaudio, it still loaded. Even though I killed pulseaudo, ALSA still froze during shutdown. Where I completey removed pulseaudio on the laptop, it shuts down nice and fast even after I removed the fix from /etc/hosts. So removing pulseaudio stops the bug, killing the process does not. [Bug 182260] Re: Finnish keyboard doesn't work under X
Not this particular symptom, because it seems that all the ISO-8859-1 words in the dictionary are simply skipped. I played five rounds and did not get a single word with ä or ö in it. Statistically speaking, a bit over 10% of the words in the file words.fin contain a character outside the range a-z (that's 59/486 to be precise, excluding the first line of the file which is just a label) so after seeing a few hundred words, I started to recognize many of them as repeats, but none that had the umlaut vowels (in Finnish, there are not technically umlauts, but you know which I mean). This is a freshly installed Intrepid amd64 installation, with LANG=en_US.UTF-8 but Finnish keyboard preferences. I also tried LC_ALL=C and LC_ALL=fi_FI.UTF-8 (after installing the Finnish locale via System Administration Language Support) to no avail. It won't let me use fi_FI.ISO-8859-1 or fi.ISO-8859-1 or fi_FI.ISO-8859-15 although they're in /usr/share/i18n/SUPPORTED but this is probably a locale problem (see below; notice the error messages from locale). Also I can't seem to strace the program. bash$ grep ^fi /usr/share/i18n/SUPPORTED fi_FI.UTF-8 UTF-8 fi_FI ISO-8859-1 [EMAIL PROTECTED] ISO-8859-15 fil_PH UTF-8 bash$ LC_ALL=fi_FI.UTF-8 locale LANG=en_US.UTF-8 LC_CTYPE=fi_FI.UTF-8 LC_NUMERIC=fi_FI.UTF-8 LC_TIME=fi_FI.UTF-8 LC_COLLATE=fi_FI.UTF-8 LC_MONETARY=fi_FI.UTF-8 LC_MESSAGES=fi_FI.UTF-8 LC_PAPER=fi_FI.UTF-8 LC_NAME=fi_FI.UTF-8 LC_ADDRESS=fi_FI.UTF-8 LC_TELEPHONE=fi_FI.UTF-8 LC_MEASUREMENT=fi_FI.UTF-8 LC_IDENTIFICATION=fi_FI.UTF-8 LC_ALL=fi_FI.UTF-8 vnix$ LC_ALL=fi_FI.ISO-8859-1 locale locale: Cannot set LC_CTYPE to default locale: No such file or directory locale: Cannot set LC_MESSAGES to default locale: No such file or directory locale: Cannot set LC_ALL to default locale: No such file or directory LANG=en_US.UTF-8 LC_CTYPE=fi_FI.ISO-8859-1 LC_NUMERIC=fi_FI.ISO-8859-1 LC_TIME=fi_FI.ISO-8859-1 LC_COLLATE=fi_FI.ISO-8859-1 LC_MONETARY=fi_FI.ISO-8859-1 LC_MESSAGES=fi_FI.ISO-8859-1 LC_PAPER=fi_FI.ISO-8859-1 LC_NAME=fi_FI.ISO-8859-1 LC_ADDRESS=fi_FI.ISO-8859-1 LC_TELEPHONE=fi_FI.ISO-8859-1 LC_MEASUREMENT=fi_FI.ISO-8859-1 LC_IDENTIFICATION=fi_FI.ISO-8859-1 LC_ALL=fi_FI.ISO-8859-1 vnix$ [EMAIL PROTECTED] locale locale: Cannot set LC_CTYPE to default locale: No such file or directory locale: Cannot set LC_MESSAGES to default locale: No such file or directory locale: Cannot set LC_ALL to default locale: No such file or directory LANG=en_US.UTF-8 LC_CTYPE=[EMAIL PROTECTED] LC_NUMERIC=[EMAIL PROTECTED] LC_TIME=[EMAIL PROTECTED] LC_COLLATE=[EMAIL PROTECTED] LC_MONETARY=[EMAIL PROTECTED] LC_MESSAGES=[EMAIL PROTECTED] LC_PAPER=[EMAIL PROTECTED] LC_NAME=[EMAIL PROTECTED] LC_ADDRESS=[EMAIL PROTECTED] LC_TELEPHONE=[EMAIL PROTECTED] LC_MEASUREMENT=[EMAIL PROTECTED] LC_IDENTIFICATION=[EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] vnix$ [EMAIL PROTECTED] typespeed typespeed: main: setlocale ** Changed in: typespeed (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = New -- Finnish keyboard doesn't work under X https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/182260 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
