[Bug 112703] Re: tomboy sometimes starts with search dialog rather than as minimized applet
This problem is currently present in Intrepid, I have investigated more; it seems to be caused by Tomboy launching before the notification area applet has loaded. If I remove the notification area from my panel configuration, Tomboy always starts with the search for notes dialog and the program exits when that is closed. This probably also explains why it happens for some people and not others. On my first log in after booting, Tomboy almost always starts in the 'non-persistent' mode; on subsequent logins, Tomboy almost always runs as expected in 'persistent' mode. This is probably caused by kernel caching or whatever when loading the panel applets. On a brief look over Tomboy.cs, it is probably something to do with the program registering as a panel applet. -- tomboy sometimes starts with search dialog rather than as minimized applet https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/112703 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

** Description changed: Binary package hint: kdebase A strange bug occurs while I'am running KDE 4.2 packages on Jaunty up to date and on Intrepid as well with the backported packages. I started to use Intrepid with Gnome on my Lenovo t400 with Intrepid and the backlight was ok, even if it had some strange way to repond to the key events, at least I could manage it, and in Intrepid it is solved by just using a 2.6.28 kernel under Gnome. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu. i understand the last one is a (semi) automated reply. *come on people*! just look at the patch, read the relevant thread and you'll see. it's so simple it's frustrating to see it not being fixed this long. this is not an issue for 8.10 or 9.04 - those already have the fix. i myself have moved to 8.10. it still makes sense to patch it in 8.04 though as it is an LTS release, and this bug is *extremely* annoying. -- Pidgin 2.4.1 (Hardy): proper closed connection handling patch from upstream https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/275439 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 316423] Re: black screen after intrepid login intel graphics
Great you figured out how to write to a file (`lspci -vvnn >lspci.txt` in case you did something more complicated). Xorg.0.log logs what happens from the X-server starts (just before you see the login screen) until you log out. To catch any error messages from when things go wrong we need the Xorg.0.log that is generated when you don't run in safe mode. There are a few ways to do this (I list two in case one doesn't work) - Log in - get the blank screen (you hear the login sound), then do Ctrl+F2 to get a text login where you can copy the file to your home directory with `cp /var/log/Xorg.0.log ~/Xorg.0.log.txt`. Ctrl+F7 will take you back to the blank screen where you can Ctrl-Alt-Backspace to kill the X-server and get the login screen again. - Log in - get the blank screen (you hear the login sound). Do Ctrl-Alt-Backspace. This kills the X-server and starts a new X-session and a new Xorg.0.log, but the old one is moved to /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old. You can then log in using failsafe mode and upload that file. If you look at the file, it should have many lines starting with (II) intel(0): as opposed to (II) VESA(0): for the failsafe one. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- black screen after intrepid login intel graphics https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/316423 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 177235] Re: slow USB 2.0 drive: it's mounted as USB 1.0, not USB 2.0!
When I tried to downgrade to 2.6.24-19 it didn't fix the problem. Looking at the ehci_hcd.ko file after downgrading it appears as if the file did not get replaced by the ehci_hcd.ko file that is on the live CD of Ubuntu 8.04.1 (kernel 2.6.24-19). Why that is? I don't know. I would expect all of the kernel related files to be updated to the version you install, but that does not appear to be the case, at least for ehci_hcd.ko. Right now I am testing out a different temporary fix before doing a complete reinstall test. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/intrepid/+source/linux/+bug/88746/comments/467 -- slow USB 2.0 drive: it's mounted as USB 1.0, not USB 2.0! https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/177235 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 316227] Re: devscripts-dbgsym unistallable in intrepid
Hi there, I cannot verify if this is correct for the next two hours, as I am running dpkg-reconfigure. I will try it out later. I see you have downloaded the Debian key from the Debian package archive. I however followed these instructions: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash It should be enough to use der pitti's key. Any other way it is not uploaded into Intrepid, as the link I posted above shows: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/intrepid/i386/+search?text=devscripts- dbgsym It surprises me that you can install it through downloading, I will try it out in a two hours. Please tell me the rules for confirming bugs. Also: if I confirm a bug are the developers warned automatically, or should I do that? [Bug 318053] Re: [jaunty] no sound on Intel 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW
Ah. I found this thread http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1036868 and looked in a little more detail at 'alsamixer -a 0'. It turns out that while I had turned up the volume on the different levels, they were muted for some reason. Once unmuted (by pressing m), all is well now. -- [jaunty] no sound on Intel 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/318053 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

this was more user error that a bug. it's confusing that all channels are muted, but I think the others have reported a bug on that. ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New => Invalid -- [jaunty] no sound on Intel 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/318053 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 318277] Re: can't use a Canon CanoScan D1250U2 scanner
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs.
