[Bug 281089] Re: [intrepid] Kernel warning, network and usb mouse fail after resume
A few observations: 1) There appear to be a number of other people reporting suspend issues with my network driver - bug 291017, for example. 2) I now have a workaround, sort of - I can add a line to /etc/pm/config.d/local as follows: SUSPEND_MODULES="via_rhine uhci_hcd" and I will have network and mouse again when I return from suspend. Unfortunately the mouse settings are forgotten - my left hand mouse is now a right hand mouse until I re-apply the settings through the window manager. Maybe that's a separate bug. 3) It seems that the two resume issues (usb mouse and ethernet) are orthogonal; I can set SUSPEND_MODULES to unload only via_rhine and my network will work but my mouse will still be broken, and vice versa with uhci_hcd. -- [intrepid] Kernel warning, network and usb mouse fail after resume https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/281089 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 335084] Re: firefox makes unlimited instances of itself
I have new information about the firefox bug. I have a link that triggers the bug. Go to this website. This is safe so far. It won't trigger the bug yet. http://www.thunderbolts.info/thunderblogs/archives/goodspeed08/goodspeedarchive.htm http://tinyurl.com/bbb7c8 Near the top at the right is "contact us". When I click on "contact us", the firefox bug happens. It makes either endless new windows or endless new tabs, depending on 'Edit -> Preferences -> Tabs'. [Bug 301480] Re: can't connect to PAN NAP
i have this problem too, and I also think it is a very severe regression. It makes my machine useless for me during travel. I have in principle found out how to create the connection without pand (some python script from the web), but the behavior is the same as with pand from the bluez-compat package: My phone asks me for authorization twice, and after I allow the first one my laptop aborts the connection with "permission denied". This is really sad: An essential functionality for mobile users that has been working great for like the last three years is completely broken in the newest release, and stays that way 4months after the release is out! [Bug 197762] Re: file transfers on USB disk are very slow
I have been searching for two days for why I am having this same problem. I have two systems, both running intrepid from the same install disc. The system with the problem is a Vostro 1000 laptop running Intrepid with 2.6.27-11. The other system is an Acer Aspire5641 desktop running the same kernel. The usb drives were both formatted with gparted on the laptop and owned by my local user account. The Acer desktop has no problems whatsoever, getting around 35MBps transfers on any usb drive. Those same drives start at about 4MBps on the laptop then drop to 600kBps. I noticed this problem because my 120gb external maxtor is what I use for movies, and my movies started skipping and then the system would become highly unstable. My laptop is almost never online as my desktop has most of the storage, so I just transfer what I want with my usb hdd. However, I do plug it in weekly and grab all updates through the update manager. The laptop played 720p movies fine, and now cannot even playback a 320x240 video without locking up. When this happens my internal hdd goes crazy, and the system slows so badly that my cursor barely moves. It is very obvious thanks to google that this is not a hardware specific issue, many people are having issues with all sorts of hardware devices, including usb controllers and different drives. -- file transfers on USB disk are very slow https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/197762 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 335732] Re: scim enabled installation does not allow accented letters on non-gnome apps
At some point during my installations I must have done something right. I still cannot write accented letters in non-gnome apps, such as Konkeror or Opera, but if I click on the small keyboard icon near the clock, I can now see two spanish icons: Spanish/Keyboard Other - Spanish/European The first one is the standard spanish keyboard, and it's the one that is failing. Hi, You have to condition the change of length of the variable, otherwise, you will have problems in i386. [Bug 335723] [NEW] Installed Size column checked by default, but not visible
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: synaptic On a fresh install of Ubuntu (or a LiveCD), synaptic does not display the Installed Size column. However, looking in Settings -> Preferences -> Columns & Fonts shows that this column is already selected. Adding or removing other columns and then applying the changes causes the Installed Size column to correctly become visible. Reproduced with synaptic 0.62.5ubuntu1 on Jaunty, but this has been present in previous Ubuntu releases for as long as I can remember. Steps to reproduce: 1) Use a LiveCD or fresh install of Ubuntu. Column settings must not have been previously modified. 2) Open Synaptic, and notice that the Installed Size ("Size") column is not visible. 3) Settings -> Preferences -> Columns & Fonts. 4) Modify the visible columns (eg. add Download Size) and select OK. [Bug 335719] [NEW] F11 functionality can't be found in Full Screen mode!
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox-3.0 Newbies confronted with a Full Screen mode WHICH THEY DIDN'T TURN ON THEMSELVES have no idea how to recover all the missing menu structures at the top of the screen. Everyone simply reboots, cusses Firefox roundly, and hopes it doesn't happen again! Some, like me, bother to track down the feature, which is clearly F11 on the View menu, but THERE SHOULD BE A WAY TO KILL THIS FOREVER so "full screen" never, ever, under any circumstances, absolutely does not reappear. It is extremely obnoxious. And, I realize, it's a feature. It's also a deal breaker, if anything better than Firefox shows up for Ubuntu. [Bug 333993] Re: computed cell not updated when input is modified
So you are saying you see this bug easily reproducible with the one document but when trying to recreate the bug using a new document and similar formulas that it doesn't happen? If so can you rip out student identifiable information and/or sanitize it from the original document and attach it to the bug report? I could look at it but if I need to forward it to the official openoffice.org developers it would be in the public at that point which is why I am asking for a sanitized version of the document. [Bug 1] Re: Microsoft has a majority market share
** Description changed: Microsoft has a majority market share in the new desktop PC marketplace. This is a bug, which Ubuntu is designed to fix. Non-free software is holding back innovation in the IT industry, restricting access to IT to a small part of the world's population and limiting the ability of software developers to reach their full potential, globally. This bug is widely evident in the PC industry. Steps to repeat: 1. Visit a local PC store. What happens: 2. Observe that a majority of PCs for sale have non-free software pre-installed. 3. Observe very few PCs with Ubuntu and free software pre-installed. What should happen: 1. A majority of the PCs for sale should include only free software like Ubuntu. 2. Ubuntu should be marketed in a way such that its amazing features and benefits would be apparent and known by all. 3. The system shall become more and more user friendly as time passes. + 4. Some companies like Electronic Arts, Adobe and Corel should see Ubuntu and Linux in general a great Target to deliver their software -- Microsoft has a majority market share https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
