[Bug 338982] Re: evolution crashed with SIGSEGV during MAPI authentication

2009-03-29 Thread mickkael
I've compiled the last libmapi 0.8.2 (not 0.8-2 jaunty package) and the bug is
still present in evolution.
jaunty beta latest packages evolution, evolution-mapi... By opening the mapi
database created by evolution before crash with openchange client, i can fetch
contacts for example.
Perhaps it is an evolution-mapi bug and not a libmapi one...

Re: [Bug 350118] Re: Firefox crash after a while of use on Ubuntu 6.10

2009-03-29 Thread JQ
Hi John,
I would love to upgrade to Hardy or Intrepid but as my system is an old Pentium
4 with Intel D845 board which I can't found any support beside 6.10 which have
everything the board need to make it work. Moreover I am just a beginner, so
would found a lot of diffculties installing Hardy or Intrepid unless you are
able to assist if I have problems. As for reporting the bug using apport, can
you advise a step by step on how to report?

Thanks for everything

[Bug 350593] Re: ext3 and ext4 : file system corrupted and system unbootable

2009-03-29 Thread mirix
Hi Jon,

Thanks for your quick answer. The minor problems were bugs previously
reported (application crashes, true or false, etc.).

The problem is reproduced also with ext3. I have updated the
description.

No I have never had media issues with this laptop. I was running Ubuntu
Studio 8.10 until yesterday and before Ubuntu 8.04.

Yes, I installed from the Live CD, but I chose to install from the
initial menu without actually booting the Live CD.

Kind regards,

Miro

** Summary changed:

- ext4 : file system corrupted and system unbootable
+ ext3 and ext4 : file system corrupted and system unbootable

** Description changed:

I have installed the first beta version of Ubuntu 9.04 codenamed Jaunty
  Jackalope (AMD64).

First I tried ext4 with a customized partition scheme. When installing
packages from Synaptic, the system starts to behave erratically. The
last thing I have the time to read, before it is completely
irresponsible, is read-only file system. I have to force power down.
I cannot boot into Ubuntu anymore. Apparently the file system is no
  longer recognized.

I reinstalled with the default parameters (using the entire HD), but
again choosing ext4. Same results. Now even Grub refuses to load (Error
  24).

- I reinstalled with ext3. Only minor problems up to now.
+ I reinstalled with ext3.
+
+ UPDATE: This morning when I switched on the system, it did not boot to
+ graphical mode. In the console, I receive instructions to run fsck,
+ which I do, but there are too many errors. The entire file system
+ appears to be corrupted. Therefore, the problem is reproduced also with
+ ext3.

The computer is a laptop NEXOC Osiris E705 III (CLEVO M570RU). Attached
  is the output of lshw.

[Bug 350790] [NEW] fails to play sound when pulseaudio is running and xine backend is used

2009-03-29 Thread Johannes Rohr
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: miro

This is about miro 2.0.3 in Ubuntu Jaunty.

since I upgraded to jaunty, miro fails to produce any sound output when
the xine backend is used and pulseaudio is running. Other xine based
applications like totem-xine work fine.

I have tried various solutions, including creating a virtual alsa device
pulse in asoundrc, using padsp, editing ~/.xine/config, however, to no
avail. miro has no xine config file and offers no command line options
for the xine audio driver.

(At the same time (this would be a separate bug) with gstreamer, miro
fails to create thumbnails for videos and shows only the generic icon.)

When I start a video, miro plays it, but without sound. In paman, I see
python2-6. in the client list. In Miro, clicking on stop has no
effect, it just continues. When I kill the client in paman, the video
playback stop.

[Bug 349974] Re: Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04 Beta on USB stick with Unetbootin

2009-03-29 Thread Ben Janoff
I have the same problem. My USB stick is a Freecom DataBar USB 2.0 Flash

For me, the 'Live USB' booted on my Ubuntu-running EeePC 701, but not on
my desktop (XP). Wuby was unavailable in Windows for me though, but it
did seem to be there (I didn't test it) on the CD. Although, I'm not
sure if my PC supports booting from USB - it is very old and I've never

[Bug 290498] Re: linux-rt restricted to one CPU

2009-03-29 Thread Realtime Dutchman
I also installed Jaunty beta on a single Intel processor machine with 700 Mbyte
memory and the installation worked like a champ but...
since I'need the real time beaviour for studio work I had to modify the
menu.lst so that I was able to boot from --linux-rt 2.6.27-3--.
So far so good.
Everything went wrong when I wanted to work with Jack and Ardour. The processor
suddenly needed much more time (DSP indicator in Ardour went sky high)
resulting a very slow performing and unworkable daw. It seems to mee that the
realtime kernel isn't ready yet and since I can not work with the generic
kernel (xruns in Jack) I'm forced to switch back to good old Hardy 8.04.
Does some one have a clue how to work around this RT behaviour?

ciao,

Realtime Dutchman.

[Bug 350800] [NEW] iconv program lacks documented exit code

Public bug reported:

iconv (GNU libc) 2.9/Ubuntu 9.04

A new upstream release of Gwyddion is available (v. 2.14).

Changelog (http://gwyddion.net/news.php#v2.14):

Application

* Translations updated: Czech, Russian.

Libraries

* libgwyapp: Data browser displays channel thumbnails.
* libprocess: Profile extraction auto number of samples always corresponds
to the number of pixels for horizontal and vertical lines.
* libgwyapp: A helper function for interpolation of bad pixels upon data
import was added.
* libgwydgets: Wrong x-axis value reported for mouse selection in GwyGraph
in x-axis logarithmic mode was corrected.
* libgwydgets: 3D view shows data with non-suqare pixels with the physical
aspect ratio.
* libgwydgets: 3D window has a button to set the z-scale to physically 1:1.
* libgwydgets, libgwyapp: 3D view axes drawing can be globally disabled
with /app/3d/axes/disable boolean True line in ~/.gwyddion/settings to work
around broken OpenGL implementations.
* libgwydgets: GwyAxis no longer enters an infinite resize loop when it
encounters completely bogus data such as undefined values and/or infinites.
* libgwyddion: GwyNLFitPreset estimators always assing some reasonable
values to the parameters even if the estimation in fact fails.
* Some forgotten strings were made translatable and gettext() was applied
to some to actually translate them.

Modules

presentation.
* Sensolytics (new): Imports Sensolytics file format.
* SPIP ASC (new): Imports text SPM files that look like exported from SPIP.

offered for raw graph import.
* Mask operations: Attach Mask was removed, superseded by Mark With.
* Profile, Roughness tools: Subsampling of the profile for some directions
of purely horizontal/vertical lines was fixed.
* Distance, Profile and Path leven tools: The maximum number of lines was
increased to 1024.
* Crop tool: Mask on cropped channels is properly redrawn now.
* PNI file: Vertical flipping was removed.
* Many modules: Translation problems were corrected.

[Bug 290498] Re: linux-rt restricted to one CPU

2009-03-29 Thread Realtime Dutchman
sorry mentioned wrong version of RT..again..:
I also installed Jaunty beta on a single Intel processor machine with 700 Mbyte
memory and the installation worked like a champ but...
since I need the real time behaviour for studio work I had to modify the
menu.lst so that I was able to boot from --linux-rt 2.6.28-3--.
So far so good.
Everything went wrong when I wanted to work with Jack and Ardour. The processor
suddenly needed much more time (DSP indicator in Ardour went sky high)
resulting a very slow performing and unworkable daw. It seems to me that the
realtime kernel isn't ready yet and since I can not work with the generic
kernel (xruns in Jack) I'm forced to switch back to good old Hardy 8.04.
Does some one have a clue how to work around this RT behaviour?
ciao,
Realtime Dutchman.

Oops, that was a little premature, my error is not the same. If I run

The crash report complains that update-apt-xapian-index is not a
packaged program, which dpkg agrees. I have no idea what this xapian

been much help so far...

2009-03-29 Thread Marat
Hello,
i have a Sony nwz A826 MP3 Player, using Ubuntu Jaunty Beta, Nautilus can not

The Nautlius window is just empty.

[Bug 294523] Re: Add an option to disable downloading langpacks

2009-03-29 Thread Manish Sinha
I too tried installing Jaunty Betaon VirtualBox with Network
enabled. The installation took so long, that I had to click Cancel and
force shut down the VM. Next time before booting, I disabled the
network.

The question is that when I chose english, then why is it trying to get
the language packs?

[Bug 331054] Re: Do not launch in background

2009-03-29 Thread ullix
I was wondering why I don't get update-notifier icon any more, and
understand now that this is a new feature, replaced by something akin to
those pop-unders in the browser (which by the way, I so far have not
ever seen in my several jaunty test installations!).

Recently I gave my step-father a laptop with the ubuntu hardy remix on
it; his first ever computer use at the age of 80 (!) and we are both
quite pleased. I managed to make him understand to never give his
password to a program unless he has called it up, for a purpose that he
understaood. Now I need to tell him that this is true in general, but
sometimes it ain't?

Bad idea.

[Bug 350788] Re: Hibernate AND suspend/resume failure on Gateway M-6862 laptop (Non-free kernel module: fglrx, ATI R6xx graphics card)

2009-03-29 Thread dnyaga
Even after purging fglrx, hibernate still does not work.

Current Behavior: the screen goes black, the backlight stays on, the system
hangs (unresponsive capslock, not responsive to power button, reset by taking
battery out).
Previous behavior: stack trace displayed on screen [will attach photo], system
also hung and could only be restarted by removing then reinserting the battery.

The kernel bug I had alluded to earlier (in retrospect) does not seem to
be related to fglrx. Even now, after purging the proprietary driver and
rebooting, it is still there. (See attachments: the old one is
kerneloops.ktefsh, the new one is kerneloops.91yNny. )

[Bug 350816] [NEW] virtualbox-ose still offers to send Ctrl-Alt-Backspace, but Jaunty guests need Alt-SysRq-K instead now

2009-03-29 Thread puntarenas
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: virtualbox-ose

Since Jaunty Alpha 6 Ctrl-Alt-Backspace key combo is disabled by
default, so sending this combination to Jaunty guests renders useless as
long as dontzap --disable wasn't set. It would be nice if virtualbox-
ose could offer to send Alt-SysRq-K instead for Jaunty guests.

Another possible solution would be to enable Ctrl-Alt-Backspace on
Jaunty Installations again when installing virtualbox-ose-guest-utils.

 experiment some more.

Do you have other channels in your config file that refer to chatnets
you haven't defined?

 Thanks,

[Bug 350820] [NEW] Python abstraction thinks 2.6 is in site-packages

2009-03-29 Thread Jonathan Davies
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: apparmor

In /etc/apparmor.d/abstractions/python:

   /usr/local/lib{,32,64}/python2.[456]/site-packages/ r,
/usr/local/lib{,32,64}/python2.[456]/site-packages/ r,

However 2.6 has it's own dist-packages directory instead of the old
site-packages one.

Also there is no reference to /usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/.

Apparently I had dnsmasq running which prevented virbr0 setup. Probably
a leftover of some test... properly purging dnsmasq solved the issue.
Please ignore the noise, that would be a duplicate of bug 231060.
