[Bug 368153] Re: Kerberos, NFS4 and autofs issue

2009-04-28 Thread maxjos
Am I correct in thinking you already have a Kerberos ticket but no
service ticket for NFS is acquired to access the NFS mount? If so, that
means the GSS daemon isn't doing what it should.

Yes, this is correct. Service ticket for NFS is missing unless users
home is mounted over NFS.

sounds strange. You don't happen to (also) use an external source such
as NIS och LDAP for your user information? Can you give me the output of
these two commands?

[Bug 368491] [NEW] Cannot mount partition on iSCSI LUN

2009-04-28 Thread alzibub
Public bug reported:

Distro: Jaunty
Package: open-iscsi-2.0.870.1-0ubuntu3
Iscsi target: openfiler
Expected outcome: mount succeeds
Actual outcome: mount fails
Details:

I am able to log in to my iSCSI LUN using iscsiadm, but when I try to
mount the partition I get an error. This used to work on Intrepid, and
the same commands currently work when run from a CentOS 5.2 or Debian
Lenny host. The commands I am running are:

r...@galois:~# iscsiadm -m node -p 10.80.224.21:3260,1 -T
iqn.2006-01.com.openfiler:alexz2 -l
Logging in to [iface: default, target: iqn.2006-01.com.openfiler:alexz2,
portal: 10.80.224.21,3260]
Login to [iface: default, target: iqn.2006-01.com.openfiler:alexz2, portal:
10.80.224.21,3260]: successful
r...@galois:~# mount
/dev/disk/by-path/ip-10.80.224.21\:3260-iscsi-iqn.2006-01.com.openfiler\:alexz2-lun-0-part1
 /mnt
mount: /dev/sdg1 already mounted or /mnt busy

I think the already mounted or /mnt busy message is a red-herring as I
am able to mount other filesystems on /mnt with no problems.

The kernel messages all look okay:

This is what was in /var/log/dist-upgrade/

apt.log apt-term.log main.log term.log xorg_fix_intrepid.log

Anyway, I did a apt-get install postfix and it worked. Previously, it
would give me an error about /var/lock and error code 10.

[Bug 364531] Re: Unable to migrate Intrepid slapd.conf configuration to Jaunty

2009-04-28 Thread Salik Rafiq
I was upgrading from 8.10 to 9.04 and so not using slapd.conf. I get
this error..

Setting up slapd (2.4.15-1ubuntu3) ...
Backing up /etc/ldap/slapd.d/ in /var/backups/slapd-2.4.11-0ubuntu6.1... done.
Moving old database directories to /var/backups:
  - directory dc=cham,dc=local... done.
  Loading from /var/backups/slapd-2.4.11-0ubuntu6.1:
Directory /var/lib/ldap/DB1 for dc=cham,dc=local not empty, aborting.
dpkg: error processing slapd (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
 slapd

I keep my database in a custom location. DB1 is a soft link to a
partition on my LVM RAID.

The software seems to work okay..apt just thinks is half-configured. I
wouldn't mind a way to make it marked 'configured'. Unless there is some
database change..but can't think why that would be the case...

You mentioned that you keep your db in a custom location? You probably want
to make sure that location is configured in the AppArmor profile. The
profile is located in /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.slapd.

Thanks.

Also, someone on the forums, seems to have come with a work-around that,
consisting of replacing the machine
name by it's IP address, with success:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=7023893

But maybe it is trying to use marie only because anonymous access failed?:

[Bug 368153] Re: Kerberos, NFS4 and autofs issue

2009-04-28 Thread Russ Allbery
Yeah, that sounds like a bug in the NFS userspace portions to me.

The way that I understand this is supposed to work is that the NFS
Kerberos support is divided into two components: a userspace daemon that
finds the user's ticket cache, grabs credentials where necessary, and
loads them into the kernel, and the kernel support which just presents
those kernel credentials to the file server.

It sounds like the userspace daemon isn't finding the ticket cache and
doing its magic with it.

Just one thing to double-check: when this happens, what's the file name
of the user's ticket cache? Does it contain the UID?

Thank you Robert for taking the time to test this. The sequence you

goes through ssh-agent, I think ssh looks in ~/.ssh/id_rsa without using

Here's the sequence that doesn't work for me (using your notation)

te...@localhost$ cp rsa1023.pub ~/.ssh/authorized_keys2
te...@localhost$ cp rsa1023 ~
te...@localhost$ chmod 600 ~/rsa1023

[Bug 368153] Re: Kerberos, NFS4 and autofs issue

2009-04-28 Thread maxjos
Yes, the ticket is /tmp/krb5cc_uid_randstring and the only
difference in these two scenarios I describe is that when $HOME is NFS
mounted `klist` show that I have the nfs/hostname@REALM service
ticket whilst it does not in the second scenario.

From what I could see in the nfs-utils docs though, RPCGSSDOPTS=-n
means you have to acquire the NFS service ticket as root manually before
the user is able to mount any kerberized exports. This leads me to
believe something is triggered in the login process (as root) making
kerberos able to get the service ticket and insert into my credentials
*IF* my home is NFS mounted. Plausible?

I have tried logging in through both gdm and terminal and the behaviour
is exactly the same. pam_krb5.so issue?

Here is some proof of concept, first with autofs mouting my home under
/net/home/user1:

Ubuntu 9.04 tty1

hostname login: user1
Password:
[ .. snip .. ]

us...@hostname:~# klist
Ticket cache: FILE:/tmp/krb5cc_1001_F4RoT
Default principal: us...@realm

Valid starting Expires Service principal
04/28/09 17:31:12 04/29/09 03:31:12 krbtgt/re...@relam
renew until 04/29/09 17:31:12

Kerberos 4 ticket cache: /tmp/tkt1001
klist: You have no tickets cached

us...@hostname:~# ls -l /net/home/user1
ls: cannot access /net/home/user1: No such file or directory
us...@hostname:~# logout

In syslog I see rpc.gssd complain about 'CC file '/tmp/krb5cc_1001_F4RoT
owned by 1001, no 0' and automount 'access denied by server while
mounting '.

Now I log in as root and modify autofs to mount my home at /home/user1
then restart autofs daemon and log in as user1 again:

Ubuntu 9.04 tty1

hostname login: user1
Password:
[ .. snip .. ]

us...@hostname:~# klist
Ticket cache: FILE:/tmp/krb5cc_1001_Ru4r3l
Default principal: us...@realm

Valid starting Expires Service principal
04/28/09 17:36:12 04/29/09 03:36:12 krbtgt/re...@relam
renew until 04/29/09 17:36:12
04/28/09 17:36:12 04/29/09 03:36:12 nfs/nfs-server.example@relam
renew until 04/29/09 17:36:12

Kerberos 4 ticket cache: /tmp/tkt1001
klist: You have no tickets cached

us...@hostname:~# logout

Magically I now have an NFS service ticket apparently because my $HOME
is pointing at the NFS server and I can easily browse my NFS home
folder

In syslog I see something that might explain the behaviour. rpc.gssd
says: 'CC file '/tmp/krb5cc_pam_randstring' (us...@realm) passed all
checks and has mtime of unixtime' and 'using
FILE:/tmp/krb5cc_pam_randstring as credentials cache for client with
uid 0 for server nfs-server.example.com'. Apparently PAM does some magic
if it sees your home folder lives on NFS and creates a temporary
credentials cache? Does this help to figure out what is causing this and
how to fix it?

Thanks
Max

typos

[Bug 368273] Re: Jaunty 9.04 Blind to XP's Shared Network Printer

2009-04-28 Thread roadSurfer
I am coming from a related discussion on UbuntuForums that concerns
similar behaviour (although related to folders)

Having upgraded 3 systems from 8.10 to 9.04 (2 physical, 1 virtual) I
have been seeing the exact same behaviour on them all. The SMBClient
set up that was working perfectly on 8.10 was not functioning on 9.04
after upgrade.

It would not show member of the workgroup or domain (smbtree would
come back empty), but I could navigate directly to a folder on a machine
I knew to be shared using the nautilus address bar (smb://ip
address/shared folder).

On all three systems I found that installing Firestarter, allowing ports
137-149 and 445 as well as editing /etc/firestarter/inbound/setup as
shown below cured the issue.

From:
# Allow response traffic
$IPT -A INBOUND -p tcp -m state --state ESTABLISHED,RELATED -j ACCEPT

To:
# Allow response traffic
$IPT -A INBOUND -p tcp -m state --state ESTABLISHED,RELATED -j ACCEPT
$IPT -A INBOUND -p udp -m state --state NEW,ESTABLISHED,RELATED -j ACCEPT

I am not sure why this should have any effect, I did not need to do this
on Intrepid.

Re: [Bug 368153] Re: Kerberos, NFS4 and autofs issue

2009-04-28 Thread Russ Allbery
Okay, I understand what's going on now. I'm not sure what to do about
it, though. Hopefully someone else who understands what's going on will
be able to help. I suspect that this ticket needs to be reassigned to
either nfs-common or to autofs.

maxjos ma...@fortytwo.no writes:

From what I could see in the nfs-utils docs though, RPCGSSDOPTS=-n
means you have to acquire the NFS service ticket as root manually
before the user is able to mount any kerberized exports. This leads me
to believe something is triggered in the login process (as root)
making kerberos able to get the service ticket and insert into my
credentials *IF* my home is NFS mounted. Plausible?

Yes.

The issue is that there are two separate operations involved in
Kerberos-authenticated NFS access so far as I can tell from the gssd man
page. (I'm somewhat handicapped here by not using Kerberized NFS; I
find AFS a better solution for what I need to do.)

First, there's mounting of the file system. Normally, this is done
using machine credentials (which presumably means /etc/krb5.keytab).
With the -n option, this can instead be done using root's user-space
credentials.

Second, there's authenticated access to files in the file system once
it's mounted. This is presumably done using the user's own regular
credentials.

The problem, when combined with autofs, is that mounts are done as the
root user rather than as the user triggering the autofs mount, but root
doesn't have the user's credentials. Hence, autofs mounting doesn't
work unless you manually obtain Kerberos credentials as root.

That this happens to work when you're auto-mounting the user's home
directory is purely an accident of implementation in pam-krb5. It
relies on unsupported and undocumented behavior of pam-krb5 and could
well break again in future versions. Due to some implementation
difficulties with how OpenSSH does authentication, pam-krb5 saves a
temporary ticket cache to the file system during the auth stack and then
moves that ticket cache to the user's proper final ticket cache during
the session stack (or setcred call). That temporary ticket cache is
only intended to be used internally by pam-krb5; that it's stored in the
file system at all is only because OpenSSH doesn't pass PAM data around
in a way that would let it be kept only in memory. Because it's only
used internally, pam-krb5 doesn't bother chowning it, which means it's
owned by root.

rpc.gssd happens to find that ticket cache when autofs fires during the
login process and, since it's owned by root, happily uses it to do the
mount. This is actually something of a security weirdness in how
rpc.gssd works -- there's a race condition here in its scan of /tmp for
root-owned tickets and possible logins that could lead it to mounting a
user's home directory using some other user's credentials. This is an
inherent security flaw in how rpc.gssd works, which is probably not
fixable as long as it scans /tmp for ticket caches and uses whatever it
happens to find.

If autofs happens later, after the PAM authentication has successfully
completed, this temporary ticket cache of course no longer exists and
therefore the mount cannot be done.

[Bug 366678] Re: 9.04 fails to boot on HP DV2-1030US laptop

2009-04-28 Thread Dusty Reichwein
I also have an HP dv2 1030us and had the same problem booting the
install CD. It seems to be a problem recognising the external DVD
drive. Here's what I did to get the install CD to boot:

1 ) I changed the kernel boot options by removing quiet splash and
adding debug break=mount.

2) Once the busy box prompt appeared, I waited for the CD to stop
spinning and unplugged the external CD drive.

3) I then plugged the drive back in, and it was recognized. The devices
/dev/sdb, /dev/sr0, and /dev/scd0 were created which weren't there
before.

4) Exiting from busy box will allow the cd to finish booting. I haven't
had a chance to try installing yet.

Re: [Bug 362182] Re: Amarok 2 lost support for iPhone-like devices - Choice between 2 and 1.4?

2009-04-28 Thread Nico
On Tue, 2009-04-28 at 02:26 +, chris wrote:
I mostly use arch these days, but I've learned a little about this

The recent commit to amarok should allow it to properly detect
iphones/touches -- *if* the device is recognized by solid, which means
it must also be recognized by hal. sshfs mounts don't show up in hal
because no hardware is actually involved, and hal is for managing
hardware. So, something in amarok or solid, or (less likely) hal needs
to change for sshfs to become viable in amarok2.

This is exactly what I descibe in the bug.

An option which may be viable, which I'm experimenting with, is
iFuse[1]. iFuse attempts to communicate with iphones/touches via native
Apple protocols over USB. Since the connection is via USB, the device
is recognized by hal and solid, at least in theory.

Well, no.

iFuse is just like SSHFS. Both use FUSE, and fuse does not declare
volumes in HAL.

For me, on arch, theory breaks down rather quickly. The hal portion of
iFuse is dependent on an fdi file included with iFuse, which doesn't
exactly work (at least not on arch). I've been hacking on it, but I'm
 not quite there yet.

This fdi file is for when HAL detects the USB device. It is no
declaration of the FUSE volume.

There is a deb package for debian experimental that might be a good
place for ubuntu users to start. It might even work out of the box for
 you.

I even tried compiling it from source, just in case I was wrong. I was
not.

2009-04-28 Thread Matthew Moore
Same or similar issue on an Asus N50Vn (WiFi link 5100) with a fresh
install of jaunty release and a WPA2 personal network. I would get one
green light in NetworkManager for a long time, and then NM would ask
for my password again. Looking at kern.log it appeared as if the
authentication nearly succeeded but then the module would hit a
microcode error. The same sequence would repeat several times in the
log before I was prompted for my password. It would however join
unprotected networks.

However, this evening I found a workaround; passing the module option
11n_disable=1 to the iwlagn module allowed it to authenticate to my
802.11g network. I created /etc/modprobe.d/iwlagn.conf with the
contents

[Bug 368392] [NEW] GnuPG Smart Card Support broken

2009-04-28 Thread Christian Felsing
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnupg-agent

After removing Ubuntu 8.10 and installing Ubuntu 9.04 GnuPG smart card
support is no longer working.

Following happens:

$ gpg --card-status
gpg: pcsc_list_readers failed: unknown PC/SC error code (0x8010002e)
gpg: Kartenleser ist nicht vorhanden
gpg: OpenPGP Karte ist nicht vorhanden: Allgemeiner Fehler

Key and general smart card tools are working:

c...@e6500:~$ pkcs15-tool -D

That card worked w/o problems until Ubuntu 8.10. Other smartcard works
with ssh-agent, so smart card subsystem should be ok.

[Bug 359517] Re: kstars does not support indi

2009-04-28 Thread Jordan Mantha
One possible option would be to put noisymime's package in a ~edubuntu-
dev PPA and advertise it on edubuntu.org and the mailing lists. Frankly,
I'm not sure how long it would take to make kstars work with indi (0.5)
and neither Kubuntu nor Edubuntu really has resources for it. Putting
noisymime's know-to-work package in a PPA would be pretty trivial.

[Bug 368381] Re: notification-properties don't change anything

2009-04-28 Thread A. Walton
This is not a bug, it's a misunderstanding. Notification-properties is
for Notification Daemon. Jaunty ships Notify-OSD by default, which does
not use that applet. You can get back to the old Notification-Daemon by
removing Notify-OSD or by installing and using gnome-stracciatella-
session.

[Bug 312898] Re: libxxx-unstripped should also Provide libxxx

2009-04-28 Thread Ludovico Cavedon
I still think that the simplest solution is what is state in the bug
title:

libxxx-unstripped should also Provide libxxx

I still do not understand what is the problem with that. And is also
semantically correct: libxxx-unstripped *provide* eveything that libxxx
does, plus something more.

[Bug 368395] [NEW] Edit OpenVPN Connectionin Kubuntu Jaunty - multiple UI issues, is useless

2009-04-28 Thread WalterNicholls
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager-openvpn

Can't even get off the starting blocks with this one!

Computer- Kubuntu 64-bit, originally Hardy then upgraded a week ago
through Intrepid to Jaunty. OpenVPN connection through the little
applet worked in Hardy.

dpkg -s shows:
  network-manager: 0.7.1~rc4.1.cf199a964-0ubuntu2
  network-manager-kde 1:0.7svn864988-0ubuntu8
  network-manager-openvpn: 0.7.1~rc4.1.20090323+bzr27-0ubuntu2
  networkstatus: 4:3.5.10-0ubuntu1~hardy3.1(relevance of this?)
  plasma-widget-network-manager: 0.0+svn930811-0ubuntu2

lsb_release -rd shows: Ubuntu 9.04 / release 9.04
uname -srmv shows: Linux 2.6.28-11-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 17 01:58:03
UTC 2009 x86_64

(This is I hope reasonably vanilla Jaunty with all available updates as
at 2009-04-28)

To reproduce:
 1. Right click NM applet on Plasma panel, Select Manage connections
 2. Go to VPN tab, select Add - OpenVPN

Observed:
Connection name: New VPN Connection (remember this fact)
  Gateway: (blacnk, ok)
  Connection Type: X.509 Certificates
CA File: __ + open file
  Username: __
  Password: ___

BAD #1: Connection type is X.509 certs but it is asking for username and
password? If you select a different connection type (eg preshared key) then
back to X.509 certs, then appears as expected:

  CA File: ___ [file button]
  Certificate: __ [file button]
  Key: ___ [file button]

So anyway
3. Toggle the connection type to get the right boxes, Set Connection name to
say Test One
, gateway, and pick the CA Cert, user cert key Save and OK out of the
4. Single-click on on network status icon
Observed:
Under VPN Connections heading is Test One - so far ok.

5. Right click on network status icon and select Manage Connections,
VPN tab, select Test One, and click EDIT

Observed:
Connection Name: Test One (OK) , Gateway: as before (OK), Connection type:
X.509 Certs.

But ... have CA File, Username and Password boxes again (BAD #1 again)
sigh

6. Change connection type to Pre-shared-key and back to X.509
certificates

Observed: CA file and (user) Certificate have come back to stored
values, but Key field is empty. (BAD #2)

7. Pick the key file again. Also change the connection name to Test
Two, Click OK / OK out.

8. Single click on Network status icon

Observed :
Under the VPN connections, it is still listed as Test One (BAD #3)

sigh again

9. Right click / Manage connections /VPN/ Test Two (as it is) / Edit
10. Go through all the rigmarole of ensureing the Certificate / key files are
set
11. Click on Optional Information tab
Observed: Port ___ [X] Use default is checked, nothing else is checked, all
other fields disabled (OK so far but...

12a. Uncheck Use default port - Port # textbox does not enable
12b. Check User cipher - combo box does not enable
12c. Check Use TLS Auth - nothing changes
12d Check Only use VPN for these addresses - edit box does not enable
 BAD #4

Summary
BAD #1 = Initial state of fields for Certificate files/credentials are wrong
(should match whatever initial connection type). On New and edit.

BAD #2 = Value of Key file apparently not remembered (may be symptom of #1,
but it remembers the others)

BAD #3 = popup from Network Status icon shows old name even if
connection renamed (not sure when it resets, restart of widget?)

BAD #4 = Nothing seems to work on the Optional Information tab

The combination of these pretty much eliminates any attempt by me to use
this to attach to my OpenVPN server. I can't even be bothered with it,
sorry. (I did write up this bug report though so hopefully the last hour
is not completely wasted).

2009-04-28 Thread brian
I've encountered the same bug but I'm using the Gigabyte MA78GM-s2h
motherboard, AM2+.
For me I've only seen this if I've created a USB bootable 9.04 image using
either the Ubuntu USB Startup Disk Creator -or- the PenDriveLinux tools.

In either case, using same flash media and procedures, 8.10 and 8.04 USB
images boot fine. However, using Jaunty 9.04 the USB image starts to
boot, gets to the spash screen then crashes with this error and ends in
the BusyBox.

[Bug 246141] Re: no support for realtek rtl8187se

2009-04-28 Thread Bryan Wu
Hi all,

It seems that I am pretty new for this issue. But from a point view of
Ubuntu kernel team, we prefer to encourage Realtek or people like you
guys to merge the driver to upstream mainline. It is much easier for us
maintain the driver. And It looks like Jaunty kernel works fine for you
guys. If you can confirm that, I plan to set the status of this issue to
Fixed in release.

Thanks

[Bug 368397] [NEW] After closing a dialog, a switch to another full-screen application occurs

2009-04-28 Thread Torsten Bronger
Public bug reported:

Situation: Application A is in full-screen mode and not minimized.
However, I work with application B, which is not full-screen but in the
foreground.

B opens a dialog window. I close this dialog (e.g. by clicking on the
Ok or Yes button). Now, Ubuntu does not switch back to the main
window of B but to A. Thus, I have to use Alt-Tab to be able to resume
my work with B.

I use Ubuntu 9.04 with Gnome; any visual desktop effects are switched
off.

32 bit is rock solid... no problems... only wifi drops sometimes but is
seems that issue is already taken care of in the next kernel release.

 Maybe it's not ext4.
In fact, in the log messages i see this ACPI: I/O resource w83627ehf

 find what's wrong.
I found that this is a sensor. I unload this module from system and put him
 in the blacklist module.

I notice that i have less reboot, less than 2 per day, before this was

I try this about 1 week.

[Bug 363661] Re: USB startup disk is corrupt afer using restart to end live-session in daily build of Jaunty

2009-04-28 Thread Steffen
Hello,

sorry for the late reply. I was quite busiy with rolling out the new
jaunty to all the computers I care for.

The USB stick has FAT16.
It is a Trekstore stick with 2GByte.
The behavior appeared on this stick no matter I created it with the latest
Intrepid USB installer, the Jaunty RC USB installer or Unetbootin using not the
default option but the OEM option on booting.

Now I tested it with the final Jaunty USB image copied with dd ... and
it has the same behavior. Booting a live session and restarting creates
a message Operating System not found. The boot menu to select the
language does not appear as well as any other message.

I have a Samsung NC10.
...
Oh, ok. Now I plugged the USB stick after rebooting out and it works. But I am
shure that before it was corrupted, because I tested it on my other notebook as
well. With plugging on and off.

Anyway, now it works, because the message says remove the boot media.

Maybe the USB stick is in a not allowed state while powered on.

Thank you for your help, sorry for any work I created!

Steffen

[Bug 366023] Re: Can't upgrade to Jaunty - video card not supported any more

2009-04-28 Thread Tony Green
Hi Bryce,
My understanding from reading elsewhere is that this problem may be due to the
fact that there are problems with the ATI fglrx driver with the new version of
X being used in this release and that it isn't included in it for that reason,
hence why it needs to be removed.

I've added lspci output and the xorg.conf file - I can't do another run
attempt at the moment as I have to rush away; if necessary I'll try to
do that later, but if my understanding is right, there may be no point
as the problem is explained.

Cheers
Tony

[Bug 368390] Re: Update to Glade 3.6.3

2009-04-28 Thread Robert Ancell
This update fixes a number of crashes and bugs relating to invalid UI
files being generated. This will be of great use to developers editing
UIs in Jaunty. No packages depend on glade-3 so this change does not
effect any other package.

[Bug 368404] [NEW] [needs-packaging] Package handbrake: multithreaded video transcoder

2009-04-28 Thread feranick
Public bug reported:

HandBrake is an open-source, GPL-licensed, multiplatform, multithreaded
video transcoder, available for MacOS X, Linux and Windows.

http://handbrake.fr/?article=download

Supported sources:

* Any DVD-like source: VIDEO_TS folder, DVD image or real DVD
(unencrypted--protection methods including CSS are not supported internally and
must be handled externally with third-party software and libraries), and some
.VOB and .TS files
* Most any multimedia file it can get libavformat to read and libavcodec to
decode.

Outputs:

* File format: MP4, MKV, AVI or OGM
* Video: MPEG-4, H.264, or Theora (1 or 2 passes or constant quantizer/rate
encoding)
* Audio: AAC, MP3, Vorbis or AC-3 pass-through (supports encoding of
several audio tracks)

Misc features:

* Chapter selection
* Basic subtitle support (burned into the picture)
* Integrated bitrate calculator
* Picture deinterlacing, cropping and scaling
* Grayscale encoding

HandBrake uses a lot of (L)GPL librairies from the Linux world:

* liba52 (AC3 decoding)
* libavcodec (decoding, picture cropping, scaling and deinterlacing, MPEG-4
encoding)
* libdvdread (DVD navigation)
* libfaac (AAC encoding)
* libmp3lame (MP3 encoding)
* libmp4v2 (MP4 muxing)
* libmpeg2 (MPEG-2 decoding)
* libogg (OGM muxing)
* libsamplerate (audio resampling)
* libvorbis (Vorbis encoding)
* libx264 (H264 encoding)
* libxvidcore (MPEG-4 encoding)

[Bug 368403] [NEW] can't get access to Canon Powershot G3 via USB

2009-04-28 Thread GuteGelegenheit
Public bug reported:

I have a Canon Powershot G3.
When I connect it via USB Ubuntu 9.04 recognizes it perfectly as Canon, Inc.
PowerShot G3 (normal mode).
But when I click on the camera icon an error appears saying that it can't show
the content of the folder. Can't retreive folder list and -111 invalid filename.

I tried different CF-cards and formated them but nothing worked. I can
access the pictures through f-spot but can't copy them to my harddrive.
Other users in the german ubuntu forum who have the same camera are
reporting the same bug. It worked perfectly fine in Ubuntu 8.10.

USB card readers also work fine only the direct access to the camera is
not possible.

[Bug 367746] Re: switching users distorts graphics

2009-04-28 Thread ricardisimo
... and finally the Xorg.0.log.old file. All of the above, I should
mentioned were done while staring at a messed-up screen with the
striation I described - this time by switching users from me to my wife
and back to me again.

Thanks again for your attention to this.

Related, but somewhat off-topic: Is the proprietary VIA driver something
for me to look into in your opinion, or no? Bear in mind that I have NO
positive experiences compiling from source...
