torbutton (1.2.1-1ubuntu1) karmic; urgency=low

  * Merge from debian unstable (LP: #382433), remaining changes:
- debian/control:
+ Binary package name becomes 'torbutton-extension'
+ Depend on firefox or abrowser, not iceweasel
+ Change references in Description to firefox, not iceweasel
- debian/iceweasel-torbutton.dirs, debian/iceweasel-torbutton.install,
  debian/iceweasel-torbutton.links:
+ Install into firefox extensions directories
+ Rename to the new binary package schema (torbutton-extension.*)

torbutton (1.2.1-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * New upstream version:
- do not resize window when it's maximized, full screen,
  ratpoisioned/evilwmed, or minimized. (Closes: #525177)
  * Add a README.privoxy with simple instructions on why and how to use
Privoxy. Most of it has been take from the tor package and was written by
Peter Palfrader. (Closes: #525178)
  * As Privoxy in Debian binds on "localhost", defaults Torbutton to use
"localhost" instead of "127.0.0.1"; fixing issues when IPv6 is enabled.
(Closes: #518371)
  * Update Homepage.
  * Bump Standards-Version to 3.8.1, no changes required.
  * Update Vcs-* field and document Git usage in README.source.

Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu. As per the technical FAQ on the site,
there are multiple reasons for not connecting to the server:

This is a new application and this is most likely not a problem with

those things are normally private and this is a public site.

[Bug 385077] [NEW] New frames come up black in Jaunty

2009-06-08 Thread Russel Winder
Public bug reported:

Even though I bet this report is going to be marked as a duplicate, I am
posting it. From what I can see this problem has been present for over
two years and it is still present.

I am using Epiphany on Jaunty with an NVIDIA graphics system and all the
non-free drivers loaded. With a number of Epiphany frames open suddenly
the next frame opens black. Making the frame smaller generally leads to
it being rendered properly. Resize and it goes black again.

Even though the other versions of this bug report have been marked as
issues in linux-restricted-modules-generic, I maintain this is a problem
for compiz. The black content behaviour does not happen with metacity,
it should therefore not happen with compiz.

[Bug 374287] Re: hdparm -Y does not work (as it did in 8.10)

2009-06-08 Thread Ben Hodgens
This problem might be somehow related to KDE. The only reason I mention
this is because I was able to previously (as of yesterday) do a hdparm
-Y and have the device remain in sleep. This morning I installed
kubuntu-desktop and upon a subsequent reboot, the disk spins up
immediately.

In this instance, hdparm -S 1 does not result in anything other
than the "setting standby to 1 (5 seconds)".

I should note that I'm not actually using KDE while trying to issue said
command(s) (I'm running the minimalist wm awesome, and only installed
KDE for experimental purposes), and lsof | grep shows to
have no open files. I am not saying KDE is in any way related to this,
necessarily; but I do know that issuing the hdparm -Y command worked on
the disk, as of yesterday.

2009-06-08 Thread Russel Winder
I am getting this "black screen" problem with Epiphany using compiz (but
not metacity) on Intrepid.

Intrepid has linux-restricted-modules-generic version 2.6.28-11.15 is it
right that this bug remains associated directly with version 2.6.20? Is
it actually a bug in this module or one in compiz?

Nice "solution" Alex, thanks for posting it yesterday and, again, today.

Now you can also turn off the computer and not only tracker index but
all computer related problems will be "solved" ;)

[Bug 348432] Re: Jaunty - after upgrade from 8.10, no window decorator at login

2009-06-08 Thread Russel Winder
I had been a Metacity stalwart, but decided to try compiz again having
jsut bought a new laptop with Jaunty. I copied all my configuration
files fromt he old laptop and everything worked fine. Now having
changed to compiz I am getting this "no window manager on login"
problem.

If there is any information I can gather to help solve this problem let
me know.

[Bug 378062] Re: Package Manager error

2009-06-08 Thread Scott Testerman
It appears you have some other problems with your system as well, but in
regards to the Package Manager error message, please take a look at Bug
#272410 to see if this might be the same problem. I hesitate to mark
this as a duplicate since you've indicated firefox-3.0 as the problem
package, but I do agree with delance that it is likely not a firefox-3.0
error unless the message is presented *only* when you upgrade/start/use
firefox.

go. :)

The important line is imo "Config: added 'ca_cert' value
'blob://-org-freedesktop-NetworkManagerSettings-0-ca_cert'".
That is not what it entered. (Should be /home//cacert.pem)

[Bug 372874] Re: Generic get_brightness function should read 'actual_brightness' not 'brightness'

2009-06-08 Thread Johannes Hessellund
Ubuntu should not wait for upstream. Try out the patch.

It solves the brightness-notification issue.

1. Apply attached patch to hald
2. echo "options thinkpad_acpi hotkey=enable,0xfd" >
/etc/modprobe.d/thinkpad_acpi.conf
3. Restart hal, reload thinkpad_acpi module

=> brightness notification works on Thinkpads, thus partly solving bug
#357673.

'brightness'

Wait... so why does Ubuntu specifically have named entries such as:

GIMP Image Editor
Firefox Web Browser
Pidgin Internet Messenger
Transmission BitTorrent Client
Brasero Disc Burner

These are the defaults, yet they are named... Are you implying that if
they are not the GNOME defaults then they need names?

[Bug 385061] [NEW] ATI/AMD HD 3650 FGLXR Graphic Issues. Dell Studio 1737!!

2009-06-08 Thread Mark
Public bug reported:

Hi...

I have A Dell Studio 1737, core2duo 2Gb, 256MB ATI HD 3650 GPU. 17in Screen.
I have A Dual Boot sytem with Vista premium on the firdt of two partitions, and
Ubuntu 9.04 takes up the second of two partitions.

I am using Ubuntu 9.04 'Jaunty'. as my main OS. I am relatively new to
Ubuntu But I have read alot about what could be causing these issues But
I have not been able to find A decent fix.

The 'problems' I am having, are recurring ones. Even after completely
reinstalling Ubuntu Several times because os similar issues to these.

Whenever I use any programs which are graphically intensive I get
various problems!

I use compiz and awn etc and after a while, when i boot up I get this
error: message:- Your screen is not compozited please run compiz
(-Fuzion or another compozited manager.

Doing the above fix does not work. and neither does if I Uninstall and
reinstall the ATI Propriety FGLRX Driver through System-Administration-
Hardware Drivers.

Also when I try to reinstall the ATI FGLRX driver on a couple of
occasions When I boot up and reach GRUB I choose Ubuntu and the I reach
the splash screen and it freezes with Six scrambles multi-colour'd
Ubuntu Icon/Logo's at the top of the screen. and I can go no further!

Also when I am in Ubuntu and I go to Screen savers options I get a lot
of errors with that particular program and eventually my whole system
freezes, and I have to press the power off button and reboot to use my
Laptop

As I mentioned I am still learning about Ubuntu. But in my humble
opinion I am pretty sure there is some sort of configuration or driver
problem with The ATI/AMD ATI/AMD HD 3650 Graphics Card and/or an issue
with the FGLRX Propriety Driver.

Can you suggest a fix for my issues?

Or can suggest any configuration procedures I could perform to rectify
the above??

Respectfully

Mark Hogan

[Bug 385060] [NEW] Nautilus crashes or shuts down when browsing a remote server using sftp

2009-06-08 Thread Jesse
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

I connect to server just fine using sftp and it was working fine for
everything for a week but suddenly it now crashes or shuts down nautilus
when I try to browse the /home folder on the remote server. I can browse
all system files and folders and even edit them but as soon as I either
right click the /home folder or try to open it, it then shuts down
nautilus.

I am connecting to a OpenSuse 11.1 server with my Ubuntu 9.04 and
nautilus 2.26.2

I would love to know if there is a log file I could look at maybe to
diagnose this but I am at a final loss here.

[Bug 321613] Re: 9100m G card (for acer aspire 4350)

2009-06-08 Thread homunq
This does not work for me in Jaunty. I may be doing something wrong.
Here's what I do:

-download
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/karmic/+source/xserver-xorg-video-nv/1:2.1.13-1ubuntu2
-unpack, configure, make, make install
-copy /usr/local/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/nv_drv.so to
/usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/nv_drv.so
-add "10DE0844" as penultimate line of /usr/share/xserver-xorg/pci/nv.ids (in
correct order for hex)

Result: X won't start at all (no screens).

I went back to the proprietary drivers for now.

[Bug 385055] [NEW] chainload grub2 fails on /boot on different partition

2009-06-08 Thread C de-Avillez
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: grub2

Installed GRUB2, selected chainloading to verify.

GRUB2 installation on /boot/grub/menu.lst seems to look like:

[Bug 385056] [NEW] Built-in keyboard stops working after resume on Sony VAIO VGN-CS26

2009-06-08 Thread Neil
Public bug reported:

mari...@vivaldi:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 9.04
Release:9.04
mari...@vivaldi:~$ uname -r
2.6.28-11-generic

When the laptop starts from cold, the built-in keyboard works as
expected. After suspend to RAM and resume, everything else comes back
fine except that the built-in keyboard doesn't work at all. A USB
keyboard works when plugged in, although the built-in keyboard is still
dead at this stage. If "i8042.debug" is on the kernel command line then
pressing keys on the built-in keyboard produces kernel debugging output
even though the keyboard still doesn't work either in X or on the
console.

Re: [Bug 280762] Re: knetworkmanager under kde4 doesn't recognize the static IP connections that I have configured.

2009-06-08 Thread ahmedmu
Hello! I used the same workaround and it worked for me. However the Network
manager applet in Jaunty does not work even with this. So i did a very
lenghthy workaaround. !) Installed Ibex first, configured the knm there ,
then 2) upgraded to jaunty using alternate CD. This way presrved my oledr
knm with config and was able to connect to internet.
