[Bug 385077] [NEW] New frames come up black in Jaunty
Public bug reported: Even though I bet this report is going to be marked as a duplicate, I am posting it. From what I can see this problem has been present for over two years and it is still present. I am using Epiphany on Jaunty with an NVIDIA graphics system and all the non-free drivers loaded. With a number of Epiphany frames open suddenly the next frame opens black. Making the frame smaller generally leads to it being rendered properly. Resize and it goes black again. Even though the other versions of this bug report have been marked as issues in linux-restricted-modules-generic, I maintain this is a problem for compiz. The black content behaviour does not happen with metacity, it should therefore not happen with compiz. ** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- New frames come up black in Jaunty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/385077 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 374287] Re: hdparm -Y does not work (as it did in 8.10)
This problem might be somehow related to KDE. The only reason I mention this is because I was able to previously (as of yesterday) do a hdparm -Y and have the device remain in sleep. This morning I installed kubuntu-desktop and upon a subsequent reboot, the disk spins up immediately. In this instance, hdparm -S 1 does not result in anything other than the "setting standby to 1 (5 seconds)". I should note that I'm not actually using KDE while trying to issue said command(s) (I'm running the minimalist wm awesome, and only installed KDE for experimental purposes), and lsof | grep shows to have no open files. I am not saying KDE is in any way related to this, necessarily; but I do know that issuing the hdparm -Y command worked on the disk, as of yesterday. -- hdparm -Y does not work (as it did in 8.10) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/374287 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 385061] [NEW] ATI/AMD HD 3650 FGLXR Graphic Issues. Dell Studio 1737!!
Public bug reported: Hi... I have A Dell Studio 1737, core2duo 2Gb, 256MB ATI HD 3650 GPU. 17in Screen. I have A Dual Boot sytem with Vista premium on the firdt of two partitions, and Ubuntu 9.04 takes up the second of two partitions. I am using Ubuntu 9.04 'Jaunty'. as my main OS. I am relatively new to Ubuntu But I have read alot about what could be causing these issues But I have not been able to find A decent fix. The 'problems' I am having, are recurring ones. Even after completely reinstalling Ubuntu Several times because os similar issues to these. Whenever I use any programs which are graphically intensive I get various problems! I use compiz and awn etc and after a while, when i boot up I get this error: message:- Your screen is not compozited please run compiz (-Fuzion or another compozited manager. Doing the above fix does not work. and neither does if I Uninstall and reinstall the ATI Propriety FGLRX Driver through System-Administration- Hardware Drivers. Also when I try to reinstall the ATI FGLRX driver on a couple of occasions When I boot up and reach GRUB I choose Ubuntu and the I reach the splash screen and it freezes with Six scrambles multi-colour'd Ubuntu Icon/Logo's at the top of the screen. and I can go no further! Also when I am in Ubuntu and I go to Screen savers options I get a lot of errors with that particular program and eventually my whole system freezes, and I have to press the power off button and reboot to use my Laptop As I mentioned I am still learning about Ubuntu. But in my humble opinion I am pretty sure there is some sort of configuration or driver problem with The ATI/AMD ATI/AMD HD 3650 Graphics Card and/or an issue with the FGLRX Propriety Driver. Can you suggest a fix for my issues? Or can suggest any configuration procedures I could perform to rectify the above??
