[Bug 362203] Re: Skype high CPU use on 9.04 using pulse (and audio recording/sending delay >5sec)
I think I have somewhat of a solution. I was able to get Skype to run perfectly fine, just as it did on Hardy. I set all options to pulse audio, then ran the following commands: sudo echo "deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ hardy restricted main multiverse universe" >> /etc/apt/sources.list sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get clean sudo apt-get install libasound2-plugins=1.0.15-1ubuntu3 libasound2=1.0.15-3ubuntu4 libpulse0=0.9.10-1ubuntu1 -d sudo dpkg -i /var/cache/apt/archives/lib* reboot . Unfortunately, this completely breaks every package manager on Ubuntu. Fixing the package managers will undo the changes, and can be done with this command: sudo apt-get install -f . . After returning to the normal Jaunty libraries, pulse appears to run perfectly fine with multiple applications running at the same time (tested Skype, Audacity, Flash plugin, Mplayer). The only problem I've noticed was that Pulse Audio "test" does not work correctly under: System>Preferences>Sound It gives this error: audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink profile=chat: Failed to connect: Connection refused -- Skype high CPU use on 9.04 using pulse (and audio recording/sending delay >5sec) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/362203 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 385540] [NEW] Brasero calculates wrong checksum after burn ISO to CD
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: brasero After burning a CD from an ISO file, Brasero reports an error saying checksum from ISO file and burned CD do not match. ("Some files may be corrupted on the disc"). However, CD is fine and all files were burned correctly. I did a manual verification using md5sum on both the ISO and on the burned CD, and they DO match. Steps to reproduce: - In Nautilus, right-click an .ISO file (i used ubuntu-9.04-desktop-i386.iso) and select "Write to Disc". - Click "Burn" After recording, it says "Some files may be corrupted on the disc". Opening up the logfile, near the end theres the line that triggered the error: BraseroChecksumImage Setting new checksum (type = 2) 2602036235674bdd37d297dadd7547dd (66fa77789c7b8ff63130e5d5a272d67b before) Steps to Verify: - Check the ISO hash: md5sum ubuntu-9.04-desktop-i386.iso ( it says 66fa77789c7b8ff63130e5d5a272d67b, same checksum as in Ubuntu documentation https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuHashes ) - Check the CD hash: md5sum /media/cdrom (again, 66fa77789c7b8ff63130e5d5a272d67b) - Create ISO from CD using Brasero, and then check md5sum: 66fa77789c7b8ff63130e5d5a272d67b So Brasero, for some reason, is not calculating the burned CD checksum correctly. I tried with the same ISO twice, and then with another ISO (the one i am attaching). The 3 discs were OK but in all Brasero reported this error. PS: This is my 1st bug report, im new to Ubuntu, so I apologize theres anything incorrect in the report format. [Bug 349569] devkit-disks: Allowed ntfs-3g mount options
Hello devkitters, In https://launchpad.net/bugs/349569 it was noted that devkit-disks does not allow most of the ntfs-3g mount options. So far, ntfs-3g has shipped a hal fdi as a workaround (attached) which allows those, but obviously that doesn't work with dk-disks any more. Is the intention that ./src/devkit-disks-device.c itself gets those new options, hardcoded? It already expects ntfs-3g after all: | /* this is assuming that ntfs-3g is used */ | | static const char *ntfs_defaults[] = {"uid=", | "gid=", | "dmask=0077", | NULL}; | static const char *ntfs_allow[] = {"umask=", | "dmask=", | "fmask=", | NULL}; | If it shouldn't be hardcoded, is there any plan to allow overrides? Personally I think that ntfs-3g has been pretty much the only use case here, so adding them to devkit-disks-device.c would be okay. [Bug 365440] Re: Chinese Characters Missing When Printing
Thanks for your comments. Any idea when OpenOffice 3.1 will be included in Jaunty? [Bug 385551] [NEW] Jaunty -- Intel 82945G/GZ -- Screen full of vertical lines, cannot logon
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel This is my parents computer that they have 2000 miles away from me. THey were on Hardy and everything worked. I upgraded them to Intrepid and rebooted, then upgraded to Jaunty. After that, they report that their screen is full of vertical lines and they cannot work. This seems to be an Intel driver issue: bunny:root:/var/log ###lsmod|grep i9 i915 65540 2 drm96296 3 i915 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02) 00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02) This is a high priority issue to me, as I am deeply embarrassed by such poor performance on what seems to be a very mainstream PC (3 year old Dell).
