[Bug 176589] Re: compiz randomly freezes X

2009-06-25 Thread Bryce Harrington

[This is an automatic notification.]

A new major version of the -intel driver is now available in Karmic.

This version includes a major reworking of the acceleration
architecture, which resolves a huge number of issues. We do not know
whether it resolves the issue you reported.

Would you mind testing Karmic Alpha-2 and seeing if it is still a
problem? CD ISO images are available here:

  http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/releases/karmic/

If the issue can still be reproduced on karmic, please report here with
your findings, and attach a fresh Xorg.0.log from your test, and we will
be able to forward the bug upstream.

Otherwise, if the bug no longer exists in Karmic, let us know that as
well.

In the off chance you encounter different bugs while attempting to test
Karmic, please report those as new bug reports.

2009-06-25 Thread Jithin Emmanuel

I reported this bug upstream already

[Bug 392383] [NEW] Support automatic dependency generation for Erlang packages

2009-06-25 Thread James Henstridge
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: erlang

When working to reduce the dependency list for the couchdb and rabbitmq-
server packages, I did it by reading the source code then trial and
error. This is time consuming and may need to be repeated as the
upstream source changes.

It would be nice if the dependencies could be automatically generated,
similar to how dh_shlibdeps does for C/C++ libraries. The module
dependency information is encoded in the compiled BEAM files, so we
should be able to determine which packages provide the given modules.

[Bug 392382] [NEW] Flash tray icon setting doesn't work in Ubuntu Linux

2009-06-25 Thread Stugol
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pidgin

"Blink on new message" option for tray icon in Ubuntu Linux does
NOTHING. The tray icon does NOT blink, or change AT ALL.

While we're at it, here's another one. How come I can't stop it playing
a sound when I send a message in chat? The option to turn off "sent
message" sounds doesn't work in a multi-person chat session.

I'm using Pidgin 2.5.5, although I've also tried 2.5.7. My version of
Ubuntu is 9.04.

2009-06-25 Thread randallw
Hi,

Not sure if this is helpful, but I got this crash today when logging out
of gnome. The machine hung at exactly the point where normally gdm would
restart. I was using the "nv" driver and was about to install the
proprietary nvidia driver. The only thing that I can think of that might
be relevant (following from posts above) is that the video card I'm
using is quite new (a GTS250), so maybe causes bugs in nv. (maybe...)

Syslog is attached below. System is a fairly fresh install of Hardy. No
virtualization or other funny business.

[Bug 282609] Re: [Q965] "No screens found"

The only way to fix this is to disable unredirect_fullscreen_windows but
last time I checked doing so results in a large performance penalty on
everything except nvidia cards. Perhaps that is not the case anymore now
that so much has changed in the intel driver.

[Bug 385095] Re: erlang-base package includes compiler

2009-06-25 Thread James Henstridge
I don't think it is worth pursuing this for Karmic. The CouchDB startup
script runs "erl -eval ...", which requires the compiler to evaluate, so
it wouldn't make any savings on the Desktop CD.

This log comes with my good xorg.conf. The screen is perfect, all fit in
1280*800.

[Bug 344060] Re: gnome-settings-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in _XiGetDevicePresenceNotifyEvent()

2009-06-25 Thread aaron
Hi all, I have a similar problem under vnc, the gnome theme is messed up and if
I open the appearance window, it will crash session. The following work around
works for me:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/199245
by disabling keyboard plugin with gconf-editor at
/apps/gnome_settings_daemon/plugins/keyboard.
The same happens under fedora 11 too and the workaround also works for fedora
11.

[Bug 371747] Re: konsole: drainbead inverse shortcuts for Next View / Previous View

2009-06-25 Thread Yuriy Kozlov
Konsole shouldn't be using Ctrl+ anything for shortcuts, it used to even
give a warning about this. Need to check if this is upstream or in
kubuntu-default-settings.

This log is with the empty xorg.conf file I just created by touch. This
result in a screen something like the description in TVout quirks. When
you maximize a windows, it's right border just outside of the screen,
using 1360*768.

2009-06-25 Thread alphachen
Here come the #1 of 3 log

Xorg.0.log without any /etc/X11/xorg.conf file, this result in a blank
screen, sounds/keyboard works fine, I can type my user/pw to login, I
know it works even there is a blank screen in X. I do remote ssh login
to touch /etc/X11/xorg.conf then poweroff it.
