[Bug 401294] [NEW] Karmic - 2 Sound Applets, No Keyboard Shortcuts, Sound Resetting
Public bug reported: Asus EEE PC 1000HE running Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic. Recently, the volume has been able to be increased to audible levels - this is good. However, after a round of recent updates (the one that made the sound audible) also made two GNOME sound applets appear, one of which being gnome-volume-control-applet, and the other is mixer_applet2. The problems are: 1. The sound keeps getting reset to lower levels while using Audacious or other applications that use sound. It happens right after it moves to the next song or a new sound-producing file is opened. 2. The GNOME Keyboard shortcuts for adjusting the sound seems to have no effect on these mixers/ volume controls. I believe it's controlling a different device, despite specifying preferences otherwise in the gnome- volume-control-applet. 3. Two sound applets is confusing, and they seem to be competing with each other. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Karmic - 2 Sound Applets, No Keyboard Shortcuts, Sound Resetting https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/401294 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. Unfortunately a paper cut should be a small usability issue that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. I'm afraid this bug can't be addressed as part of this project. This is a bug, Which is triggered by the user's customization of the window and does not happen with the default setup. Further there is no easy/simple fix for this, Hence not a papercut. A paper cut is a minor usability annoyance that an average user would encounter on his/her first day of using a new installation of Ubuntu 9.10. [Bug 370880] Re: Amarok podcast subscriptions gone when upgrading from Intrepid to Jaunty
You're right, glass. If you have Amarok 1.4 installed and then upgrade to Amarok 2, then the podcast subscriptions probably won't be migrated over yet. I think there is an effort to migrate as much over as possible, but I don't think that's a use case that Ubuntu officially supports. If you start with a fresh installation of Amarok 2 and put in podcast subscriptions, then there is no issue at all, so I'm closing the bug. [Bug 85791] Re: Amarok loops through all songs when the sound device isn't available
It's been quite some time since this bug was reported and last commented on, so I'd like to solicit feedback to whether this bug still exists in the Amarok 2.x series. It has been observed as far back as Amarok 1.2.3 in Apr 2005 [1], but that bug was closed due to being against the 1.4 series. If we can confirm the issue still in Amarok 2, we can reopen that bug. I searched currently open bugs in Amarok's bugtracker for this one, but couldn't find it in bugs.kde.org [2]. For those picking up midway, the bug described here is _not_ that sound doesn't play out of Amarok -- that's often a Pulseaudio or other sound system error. This bug deals with the way Amarok handles a sound system that can't play anything -- typically because a sound device is unavailable. In those instances, Amarok will fail on the current track and advance to the next one, which then fails, so it advances again, etc. When this happens on dynamic playlists in particular (essentially of infinite length), it hogs CPU and makes Amarok unresponsive. How does this bug now stand in relation to Amarok 2? Re: [Bug 401205] Re: Split transaction won't allow an account
Hei Ku, I'm moving from MS Money where entering my pay statements were much easier. I attempted to export and import to move the all the accounts over. The imports worked EXCEPT it didn't import any of my split transaction pay statements. In .9.2 I enter the split transactions without any problem. Upgrading to .3 won't allow me to enter the withholding for the 401 accounts. The way I performed it in msmoney was that the 401 contributions were "transferred" to a holding account. Then in the investment accounts the stock / mutual fund "buys" are taken from the 401 holding accounts. I have a similar configuration in .2 and it appears to be working. However in .3 the split transaction wants a category. How can I indicate that the money is withheld and placed in a different account to cover the 401 purchases? Especially since I already have many "deposits" in the holding accounts? In addition when trying to enter any new records, or attempting to change the date on any existing record, as soon as I change the date, the enter key grays out and the only option I have access to is cancel. I "uninstalled" ,3 and re-installed .2 so I can continue entering all the corrections to the import and actually start using the program. Thanks for listening. [Bug 229330] Re: Headphones do not mute speakers
Sorry for the double post, ran the second time as root, to include dmesg log, although im not sure how much it will help. Problem still exists with the alpha version of 9.10. Again, the workaround IS still valid: Muting the front channel in volume control will mute the front speakers, but not the headphones. This is the needed headphone sensitivity done manually. -- Headphones do not mute speakers https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/229330 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
