[Bug 400934] Re: [i945] (UXA) Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:2772] (rev 02)
Karmic alpha-3 is now ready for testing. We really need the logs from the newer versions to take this any further. You should be able to get this via a LiveCD if you install openssh-server and ssh in from another computer. Otherwise, you may try to install the LiveCD image to a USB stick (System -> Administration -> USB startup disk creator) and enable persistent storage (you probably need at least a 2 GB USB stick for this to work. This should leave the logs on the USB stick for next boot. ** Tags added: g45 jaunty karmic no-screens ** Tags added: 945g freeze ** Tags removed: g45 no-screens -- [i945] (UXA) Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:2772] (rev 02) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/400934 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 404554] [NEW] [Karmic] Crackling noise after a sound is played on HP Mini 1000
Public bug reported: This is on a HP Mini 1000 (1120NR). Using Ubuntu UNR Karmic alpha-3 iso. Generally the sound works good. The problem appears after a sound has been played when there is only silence, after a few seconds I hear a crackling noise which lasts for a few milliseconds. It happens everytime. Maybe like a powersaving problem? To test it, I just do: paplay /usr/share/sounds/question.wav I wait a few seconds and then I hear the crackling noise. Note also that in at boot-time, I think when loading the hda-intel module, there is also a crackling sound and at shutdown too. Under Jaunty, the sound didn't work but using alsa-source and compiling the modules I could make it work, there were no crackling sound except at boot time and shutdown. I remember when I was using HP MIE (Ubuntu for HP Mini's), they used a workaround to avoid that noise, they mute the volume at boot-time and at shutdown (but I'm not certain). I'm available to answer any questions. Note that I'm using the LiveCD so this is not currently installed on my laptop. [Bug 332100] Re: wine fullscreen app makes X server crash on jaunty
I'm not sure how many people my case affects but its not just running wine applications that is a problem. It seems that this bug might be related to a bigger one regarding changing resolutions in general. I have a "Intel Corporation 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Device" (still using Jaunty) and I get undesired behavior when I change resolutions in two different cases. First case: If I have no acceleration enabled (in my xorg.conf), when I change resolutions (from my native 1280x768 to something else) I just get a black screen. I know applications are still running because I can hear sounds and still use keyboard shortcuts. I read on some other posts that what I'm experiencing is X unable to "sync" or "vsync". This is also true for wine applications. Second case: If I do have acceleration enabled (UXA), then when I change resolutions, X crashes and I'm brought back to the log in screen. Thus my crash might not have anything to do with wine applications. Like I said, this is the behavior I experience on my computer, and I wonder how many other people experience the same behavior. Hope I was able to shed some light on the bug. A fix for this would be much appreciated! -- wine fullscreen app makes X server crash on jaunty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/332100 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 404563] [NEW] Ubuntu 9.10 Alpha 3 fails to boot on Dell Inspiron 630M
Public bug reported: Hello guys, I was wondering if any one has experienced the same issue as myself, I have a Dell Inspiron 630M (Intel 915 chipset/GMA900 graphics) laptop that will not successfully boot the Alpha 3 of Karmick. The live cd starts I hear the ubuntu theme but the panels at the top and bottom of the screen keep flashing every 5-10 seconds and I am unable to access any menu items. I am unable to provide any log files as the system is unresponsive to me and I have to manually restart the computer. I have used Ubuntu 8.04/8.10/9.04 without issues on this computer and the CD worked correctly on my other laptop that is an Intel 965 based machine with X3100 graphics. I hope this proves useful to you. [Bug 404562] [NEW] Fresh Kubuntu Karmic Alpha 3 after update internet not working
Public bug reported: On Kubuntu Karmic Alpha 3 LiveCD internet by wire Ethernet connection and TV cable modem works fine. After installing Kubuntu works fine. After updating Karmic internet says bye bye. My friend can't load any web page or even finish apt-get update. His ifconfig looks ok, he gets IP and connection is established. Why update breaks internet for him? How to fix it? We installed Karmic because in Jaunty after last updates he had the same problem. It was strange because he has that problems only in GNOME/KDE. When I run console (alt+ctrl+F1) internet was working like it should, pings without packages lost, but when I switch back to KDE/GNOME internet is not working and a lot packages lost when I ping exactly the same web page. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Fresh Kubuntu Karmic Alpha 3 after update internet not working https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/404562 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 403377] Re: multisearch - Google Custom Search is English Only
Given the loss of functionality (internationalization, ease of switching between types of searches, unexpected search results) and how it affects the appearance of search results (It looks kind of ugly, no? Not very ayatana-friendly), I hope that the folks in charge at Ubuntu reverse this change by removing this extension from the default install. If this is something that is being put in place for the alpha and beta releases, but will be removed for the final release, I could understand it, as it will bring in a bit of income to support bandwidth costs during the pre-release milestones. If it will be included in the final release, then I think it's a poor decision based on the technical reasons above. If the decisions about this could be made clear to the community, I think it would help to prevent a ruckus from being raised as more people test out the pre-release versions. The Stop-Scripts umountnfs.sh (Starting at S31), networking (S35) and umountfs (S40) cannot do their jobs after sendsigs is executed and as one result, the Networkmanager will hang. [Bug 22070] Re: Logitech Quickcam Messenger is not usable
Thanks Peter for pointing us to that link: #43 Petar Velkovski wrote on 2009-07-16: Surfing the Internet I found this link: http://www.kuhrti.de/index.php/article/logitech-quickcam-messenger-on-ubuntu-9-04/comment-page-1/ The driver finally compiled again right away (kubuntu jaunty kernel, all updates made), and the camera (ID 046d:08f6) now works just as it used to work in the past. [Bug 404570] [NEW] Dolphin's RAW image previewer needs lower case extensions
Public bug reported: I have noticed that dolphin, using KDE 4.3 rc3 under karmic, doesn't preview RAW images if their extension is in upper case. I'm not sure about all formats, but this is at least true of my .NEF files. I need to rename them all to .nef for them to show up properly previewed in dolphin. I'm no programmer, but I guess a fix for this one should be rather simple. ** Affects: dolphin Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Affects: dolphin (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Bug watch added: KDE Bug Tracking System #201444 http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=201444 ** Also affects: dolphin via http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=201444 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown -- Dolphin's RAW image previewer needs lower case extensions https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/404570 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 404568] [NEW] after update to KDE 4.3 RC3, audio stutters
Public bug reported: As the summary says, after updating to the newly released rc3 of KDE 4.3, on karmic, audio has started to stutter. I couldn't get any sound using the gstreamer backend, so I've only tried different settings with the xine backend. I've tried using the pulse setting as well as the alsa setting. The result is exactly the same; short stutters every 5-7 seconds or so. The reason I believe this is a phonon bug, rather than a kernel or alsa bug, is that playing audio files using any non-phonon application works as expected.
