[Bug 422869] [NEW] fsck halts bootup when checked file has timestamp in the future from other Ubuntu installation
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: e2fsprogs I currently dual boot Karmic and Jaunty on separate disks, however they mount eachothers partitions and share data. Today when I rebooted from Jaunty into Karmic the startup was halted and dropped me to a repair shell during the fsck: /var/log/fsck/checkfs: Log of fsck -C3 -R -A -a Tue Sep 1 07:37:27 2009 fsck from util-linux-ng 2.16 /dev/sda6: Superblock last write time (Tue Sep 1 14:36:33 2009, now = Tue Sep 1 07:37:27 2009) is in the future. /dev/sda6: UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY; RUN fsck MANUALLY. (i.e., without -a or -p options) fsck died with exit status 4 Tue Sep 1 07:37:27 2009 It was 14:37 Pacific time (my computer's time zone) when I booted up, and shortly before that when I shut down, however Karmic appears to think it's about 7 hours earlier, which I believe is UTC. When I finish booting Karmic connects to the internet and sets the gnome-clock to the proper (pacific) time, so I never noticed that the internal clock was off until it blocked bootup. Since this seems to fix it, you can permanently replace ohci1394 + ieee1394 + sbp2 by the newer drivers firewire-ohci + firewire-core + firewire-sbp2. Check for relevant configuration files with "grep -r -e firewire -e 1394 /etc/mod*" and have a look at http://ieee1394.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/Juju_Migration#How_to_suppress_auto-loading (I don't have Ubuntu installed here hence I don't know which particular config files need to be changed.) -- External ieee1394 drive not recognized 2.6.27-5 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/279342 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 422814] Re: Initial tuning with Hauppauge HVR-4000 fails
Howdy, and thank you for helping to improve Mythtv and Mythbuntu. The upstream mythtv bug that you mention (5744) contains a comment which seems to imply that the fix does not work properly for 0.22. If you believe that to not be the case, you might consider re-opening that ticket (and also please comment back here if that is correct). Having said that, that bug comment also seemed to express a reluctance to do anything on the mythtv source side about this because it is perceived to be a bug with the V4L drivers. ** Changed in: mythtv (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed -- Initial tuning with Hauppauge HVR-4000 fails https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/422814 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 422858] [NEW] Atom N280 frequency scaling not supported
Public bug reported: Seems like there's a few people out there with a common problem. I can't get my Ubuntu 9.04 to manage the frequency of the Atom N280 CPU at 1,6 GHz on my Acer One D250 HD. A quick google with bing later I found that I could "sudo modprobe acpi_cpufreq" except this returns "FATAL: Module acpi_cpufreq not found". A "sudo dpkg-reconfigure gnome-applets" didn't cut it either. /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_available_frequencies returns: 1333000 1066000 80 Which shouldn't be, as /proc/cpuinfo, as well as Windows 7, states it's a 1,66GHz: model name : Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU N280 @ 1.66GHz stepping: 2 cpu MHz : 1333.000 power management: Though it seems the frequency is locked at 1,3GHz and that there's no power management involved. A typical Dolphin url would be: fish://remotehostname/home/username/src/c++/programname Opening and editing files works good. However after a few successful saves, Kate will then throw up a dialog box proclaiming: Connection to host remotehostname is broken. At this point, the source file on the remote host is now 0 bytes long. The connection to the remote host using SSH seems fine, as I'm logged onto the host using Konsole to compile and put the program into production, and I can still move around with dolphin and even open up more source files in kate, but if I try to do any more saves, the error message pops up and the source file on the remote host is truncated. ** Affects: kde4libs (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium Status: Fix Released -- Kate (KDE 4.3) Losing data on fish/ssh connection https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/413317 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kde4libs in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 394500] Re: [karmic] pulseaudio: card not found - Null Output
Hi petera, As Karmic is still under intense development, I believe it is understandable that we might bump into bugs/regressions. The point in using Karmic now is to help test the system and report all bugs here. The developers will then do their best to fix all the major issues before the final release (Oct 09). Therefore it won't be of much help if you overwrite/downgrade your Karmic installation at this stage (You always have the option to install Jaunty as you main/production system on a separate partition and keep testing Karmic at the same time). Regarding the above mentioned issue, I don't know if this could be of any help, but I forgot to mention that pulseaudio 1:0.9.16~test5 ran fine on Karmic. Sorry for the confusion, the last comment is about Bug #410522, which probably is different from this (and thus incorrectly labeled as a dupe). [Bug 401663] Re: package grub-pc 1.96+20090611-1 ubuntu4 failed to install/upgrade: podproces installed p ost-installation script zwrócił kod bł ędu 1
I've found the culprit. This bugs still occurs for me, and its not grub's fault. On powerpc machines, the bootloader (grub2 along with yaboot) are put on a separate partition, which is HFS formatted. I mount this partition as /boot/grub. The problem is with hfsutils: even if they report (e.g. via the output of "mount") that this filesystem is mounted read-write, after an abrupt halting of the machine it's mounted read-only. The only real fix is to manually unmount /boot/grub, run fsck on it which clears the dirty flag, and then remounting it and running grub2 installation again. So I believe that fixing the output of mount, or forcing a fsck when mounting a hfs volume, is the only real solution to this. Or whenever the filesystem gets dirty, and update-grub is called, you'll get errors, potentially leaving your system unusable. ** Also affects: hfsprogs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- package grub-pc 1.96+20090611-1ubuntu4 failed to install/upgrade: podproces installed post-installation script zwrócił kod błędu 1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/401663 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
