[Bug 425092] [NEW] Kind of a bug: Seahorse won't let user create new OpenPGP key without last name
Public bug reported: Opening Seahorse through the Applications>Accessories>Passwords and Encryption Keys seahorse will not let users create new keys. Going to file>new>pgp key the create button is greyed out. When a user enters information the button is not activated. If the "does not expire" box is unticked the same still occurs. The issue is that a last name must be entered in the name box. [Bug 425088] [NEW] MSI X-Slim 340 - Front Mic not working
Public bug reported: Dearest Developers and advanced users, 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System -> About Ubuntu. Description:Ubuntu 9.04 Release:9.04 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy packagename' or by checking in Synaptic. Did try more then one thing to install. Like skype 2.1, pulse volume control and more. But didn solve the problem. 3) What you expected to happen That by changing the volume settings of front mic and front mic boost the front mic (mic fisiclay on the screen edge next to the camera would start working on my MSI X-slim 340 Laptop (In MS VISTA that is installed by default :-( it does work...) This seems to make it an ubuntu bug I believe. If not please correct me. 4) What happened instead The front mic settings in volume control are in fact for the mic jack on the side which works perfectly! But dont always want to run for my external mic if someone calls me. And it seems naming in that case is wrong. If any more info is needed please let me know exactly how to fetch it please. OK, it would appear that /usr/bin/labyrinth uses "site-packages" in its path definition rather than "dist-packages"; in other words, correcting only the version number (from 2.5 to 2.6) is not enough. [Bug 330298] Re: mdadm software raid breaks on intrepid-jaunty upgrade
Continuing with my 8/31 2009 post, I erased the disks and reinstalled 9.04. Still had problem. Reading the mdadm wiki, kernel detection and assembly of arrays is considered deprecated, and only works with version 0.9 superblocks anyway. I use version 1.2 superblocks so that they are near the start of the disk so I can zero them out in a reasonable time when I want to reuse the disks. 8.10 did not have any problem assembling these. I don't know if it is because it FOUND them, or if it looked at mdadm.conf. I did not KNOW about mdadm.conf until a few days ago, so if it assembled them from mdadm.conf, mdadm must have created the file for me. Since arrays using version 1.2 superblocks *cannot* be auto-assembled, my mdadm.conf in 8.10 must have been created for me. I did a "mdadm --examine --scan >> /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf" and the system works fine. (Well, there are other mdadm segfault problems which I just put a bug report in for, but that is another story). So I conclude that *whatever* is supposed to create mdadm.conf when you create an array with command line mdadm commands worked in 8.10, and is broken in 9.04. -- mdadm software raid breaks on intrepid-jaunty upgrade https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/330298 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 137166] Re: lvm config outputs vg freespace in 10**6, inputs in 2**20
I did not go with Ubuntu in the 2007 time frame, instead staying with Suse which I had used for years. However I have recently switched to Ubuntu. I don't recall where the LVM configuration WAS, but with 8.10 and 9.04 I don't see any way to do MD or LVM through the install CD. This is very disappointing. Suse's installer with regard to partitioning is much better. You can specify options for disk formats, mount options, and do MD and LVM. It is VERY nice. But they have other problems, and these things are not hard to do by hand as long as you are not booting off of them. So I just do mdadm and the lvm2 commands in a shell. So I don't know if these numbers are still messed up, because I don't SEE a GUI like MD or LVM configuration program any more! It probably is silly to you, but I would appreciate any comments pointing me in the right direction. This would be nice. [Bug 137171] Re: re-install with md(raid) in same place uses old raid data
Using the "skip=" option on dd does not help. It seems to take just as much time as writing zeros to the whole disk. It must skip by reading them, as opposed to issueing an appropriate command to the device. Instead I have started using the rev 1.2 SuperBlock for mdadm. This places the superblock very near the front of the disk, so I only have to zero a little bit (It says in the man page, but I just do a MB since it is quick). Be aware that kernel-sensed auto-assembly is depricated, and only works with superblock version 0.9 anyway. So you HAVE to keep track of your mdadm.conf. In the past I have never worried about it - it always self assembled, even on a clean install. Just hook up the disks and it worked. Now you have to have the .conf file. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: plasma-widget-kubuntu-qa-feedback I am fixing this now, just filing the correct paperwork for the upload :) Anyways what happened is the wrong version from Bzr got uploaded. That version had a hardcoded URL to a survey. I had changed it so we wouldn't have to update the source for every release. The new version that I am about to upload, that fixes this bug report, utilizes a remote PHP script on the survey server. The widget passes the version of Kubuntu that it is running on, and the remote PHP script checks that version against the latest CD images release as well as makes sure there is a survey available for said release. If everything checks out then the widget is redirected to the correct survey. If there is no survey, they will be told there is no survey. ** Affects: plasma-widget-kubuntu-qa-feedback (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Fix Released -- Current release is the wrong upstream source - surveys don't work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/425067 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 387562] Re: OOo F11 key brings up Style and Formatting instead of Full Screen
In my mind, this is not complicated. On Ubuntu, F11 is Full Screen. The fact that Styles and Formatting is bout to this key is annoying to me as a *heavy* user of OO. I agree with mac_v, existing users who do not celebrate that change to a sane and consistent key binding will adjust. If they can't, well, keybindings remain configurable. If it's a huge mistake we can roll it back before launch. Great to see upstream considering this change as well. [Bug 425066] [NEW] Please remove libdc1394 and all binaries
Public bug reported: Package is obsoleted by libdc1394-22 and all rdepends have been migrated to the newer library. The package player still carries libdc1394-dev (which libdc1394-13-dev provides) as an alternative build-depend, but it's primary build depend is libdc1394-22-dev, so the packages have no unique rdepends. Binaries to remove: libdc1394-13 libdc1394-13-dev libdc1394-examples The package does not currently build and Google indicates that is unlikely to change. [Bug 140574] Re: gnome-mouse-properties does not switch touchpad tap-buttons
Problem persists in 9.04. My current work-around (for synaptics touchpad): Go to System->Preferences->Startup Applications and add this new command: xinput set-int-prop "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" 275 8 2 3 0 0 3 2 1 I think this is a bug and not a wishlist item. Of course, there are very few left-handed people who use a left-handed mouse on a laptop. But for those of us who do use this option, tapping on our touchpad results in a right-click instead of a left-click.
