[Bug 425330] [NEW] Ubuntu 9.10 alpha 5 installation error
Public bug reported: This is a problem that i have had since Ubuntu 9.10 alpha 4. I am using an HP 6830s laptop. Ubuntu 9.10 alpha 4 clean install works fine. If i update the system with update manager, and restart the sytem, ubuntu boots and i can see the new ubuntu loading screen, the computer thinks for a minute and then the screen goes black for one second, back to the loading screen, goes black again, and so it repeats. I can´t do anything when it is doing that. Only close down the computer. I have tried Ubuntu 9.10 alpha 5, and it is the same error there. Can´t boot up the live cd. So i have no idea what could cause this. Still i do like alpha 4. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Ubuntu 9.10 alpha 5 installation error https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/425330 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 420277] Re: ldap tls refusing to initialize
Interesting. My version also was an upgrade from hardy-intrepid-jaunty. My /etc/ldap/ldap.conf doesn't contain a line about TLS_RANDFILE though, and my install doesn't report the TLS: gcry_control error, rather, there is nothing other than the main: TLS init def ctx failed: -1 complaint. I suspect these may be related problems, at least in the sense of hard to tell what is going wrong during initialization. I will likely later this weekend try to clear aside configuration and try a local build of openldap with debugging for gdb turned on and built against gnutls. -- ldap tls refusing to initialize https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/420277 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 351186] Re: [M76] [ubuntu 9.04] slow unminimizing with ati card and desktop effects enabled
I've found this is not a Ubuntu specific bug, the bug is present in multiple distro's and like Ubuntu this bug was not present in the past releases. In all the distro's tested the ones affected where the ones released around or after the release of 9.04 (Mandriva 2009.1 for example) so whatever is causing this is something lots of up to date distro's started using in there latest releases. Couple things that come to mind would be new kernel, new Xserver and new ATI drivers. My uneducated guess would be it has something to do with the new Xserver or the new drivers... maybe a little of both. Hopefully this information is of some use to someone. I have a HD3450 and the xserver-no-backfill patch like many before me has fixed the issue in Ubuntu. -- [M76] [ubuntu 9.04] slow unminimizing with ati card and desktop effects enabled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/351186 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 425349] [NEW] glutKeyboardUpFunc not exported
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: libopengl-perl My system: Ubuntu 9.04 on a samsung nc10 netbook, with an intel graphics chip Description: It seems like a lot of symbols aren't being exported. glutKeyboardUpFunc, for one, depends on GLUT_API_VERSION = 4, whereas glutKeyboardFunc does not. I believe this is related to the cause of this bug, although GLUT_API_VERSION is defined as 4 after the module is loaded. Undefined errors are why most of the ./examples/ in this package don't work. On Cpan, this module is named OpenGL. The newest developer release compiles installs, and glutKeyboardUpFunc does export, but most of the ./examples/ are still broken. To repeat: 1) install libopengl-perl 2) run the following code: use strict; use warnings; use OpenGL qw/:all/; glutInit(); glutKeyboardFunc(); glutKeyboardUpFunc(); The Error is this: Undefined subroutine main::glutKeyboardUpFunc called at - line 5. [Bug 425358] [NEW] [karmic] realtime kernel 2.6.31 hangs on boot for several minutes, then hangs with X before login
Public bug reported: Upgraded a fresh Jaunty install to Karmic. New karmic generic kernel works fine but realtime kernel does not. Hangs for about 5 minutes just after printing some messages about the RTL8180/RTL8185 WLAN. Then it proceeds to start Xorg and shows a spinning cursor with an Ubuntu splash and progress bar. Screen goes black, spinning mouse cursor remains forever. Virtual Terminal logins seem to work, but restarting Xorg results in same behavior. I will reboot and try to capture those messages and attach them. In the meantime i've attached a normal boot's dmesg, and output of lshw and cpuid. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: compiz I'm using Karmic and ever since about a month ago (not sure exact date) whenever the computer returns from sleep the screen is frozen. The image itself on the screen is frozen but the computer is still active including the mouse cursor which works and I can hover it over screen elements and see how the cursor reacts to them (turns to an I-beam when over text fields etc). When the computer resumes the screen is either frozen completely blank (black) which is often how it is when it resumes from a closed laptop lid or I see the previous content of the screen but its just a static image - which often happens when I resume the laptop after it has been sitting open for a few hours. when that happens I can log in by positioning the mouse carefully on the screensaver-lock input box, typing the password blindly and then blindly using ALT-F2 and executing compiz --replace which restores my desktop (albeit reset with all windows on the first workspace). I can reproduce this 100%. My hardware is Thinkpad T61 with GM965. Public bug reported: The only mistake/bug I noticed was the in the first report mentioned broken file/package that I was not able to remove. Connected with the Gwenview package. I hope A. there is an easy way to remove the broken file/package that works B. that all the other bugs are gone when the broken file/package is removed. Hope someone can help me. [Bug 61570] Re: All sticky notes are erased when out of disk space
I have the same experience as Leo, ./gnome2/stickynotes_applet is overwritten at logon. Notes are still retained but their contents are blanked (also the note size is altered). [Bug 425362] [NEW] Alsa should show more device names in default setup
Public bug reported: Ubuntu Jaunty and/or Karmic: aplay, among other sound playing recording utilities, use snd_device_name_hint() to enumerate known devices. However, with the current (inherited from upstream) namehint policy, neither pulse or default are shown - very valid devices if you ask me. These can be shown if defaults.namehint.showall is changed to on in /usr/share/alsa/alsa.conf, and possibly ~/.asoundrc.asoundconf as well. Furthermore, the hw and plughw devices won't be shown until defaults.namehint.extended is turned on as well. So my suggestion is that we turn both defaults.namehint.extended and defaults.namehint.showall on. I believe it would be better in the long run. ** Affects: alsa-lib (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Alsa should show more device names in default setup https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/425362 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
