[Bug 425370] [NEW] X-Properties are missing and incorrect

2009-09-06 Thread Rotbart van Dainig
Public bug reported:

The essential X-Properties are missing or incorrect, making window-
matching (Compiz, etc.) impossible.

$ xprop _NET_WM_WINDOW_TYPE | cut -d_ -f10

That should be: Notification

$ xprop WM_CLASS | cut -d\ -f2
unknown

$ xprop WM_CLASS | cut -d\ -f4
unknown

Those should report something at least, too.

[Bug 425373] [NEW] Wrong translation catalogue filename

2009-09-06 Thread Rivo Laks
Public bug reported:

KPackageKit translations (.mo files) use wrong filename. Currently they're
named KPackageKit.mo while the correct variant would be kpackagekit.mo (all
lowercase).
Because of this, KPackageKit currently shows up untranslated. When I manually
copy /usr/share/locale-langpack/et/LC_MESSAGES/KPackageKit.mo to
kpackagekit.mo, then it becomes translated.

Also note that this is a regression from Jaunty (in jaunty the files are
names kpackagekit.mo). A testcase can be found here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kpackagekit/+bug/368538/comments/4

Found in Kubuntu Karmic alpha5, with updated packages.

[Bug 425378] [NEW] FFe: Sync gw6c 6.0.1dfsg.1-4 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2009-09-06 Thread Ahmed El-Mahmoudy
Public bug reported:

Please sync gw6c 6.0.1dfsg.1-4 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

Explanation of FeatureFreeze exception:
This release fixes a couple of issues:
1) a DSA keyfile that was thrown into / directory.
2) when a computer boots up, and lots of interfaces are brought online, each
time gw6c was restarted. so some sanity checks were added to prevent this.

Changelog entries since current karmic version 6.0.1dfsg.1-3:

gw6c (6.0.1dfsg.1-4) unstable; urgency=low

  [ أحمد المحمودي (Ahmed El-Mahmoudy) aelmahmo...@users.sourceforge.net ]
  * debian/patches/10_directories.dpatch: patched
tspc-advanced/src/tsp/tsp_auth_passdss.c to set path for TSPC_DSA_KEYFILE to
to /var/lib/gw6c.
  * debian/init.d: increase DIETIME to 5s.

  [ Craig Small ]
  * Adjusted init file to create radvd run dir, if needed
  * Added some more sanity checking in if-up and ppp scripts
  * Updated to standards version 3.8.3

[Bug 425384] [NEW] apport-kde hangs - reporting crashes stopped working

2009-09-06 Thread Christian Schürer-Waldheim
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: apport

I can't say for how long this problem occurs, but since some weeks
reporting crashes in kde (running up to date karmic) does not work
anymore. When an application crashes, apport pops up and asks if I want
to send a crash report. When I agree, it collects data about the crash
and asks me again if I want to send the report. Normally, the browser
would open a little later, opening launchpad. But this does not work
anymore - just nothing happens. The apport process stays in memory.
After some time, there are more and more apport-kde processes, e.g.
after about 5h uptime:

1000 4311 0.0 2.7 441932 84652 ?S17:56 0:02
/usr/bin/python /usr/share/apport/apport-kde
1000 4322 0.0 1.3 262188 41712 ?S17:56 0:00
/usr/bin/python /usr/share/apport/apport-kde
1000 4412 0.0 1.3 262180 41712 ?S17:57 0:00
/usr/bin/python /usr/share/apport/apport-kde
1000 4918 0.0 1.3 262188 41720 ?S18:00 0:00
/usr/bin/python /usr/share/apport/apport-kde

I tried to find out with strace what these processes are doing:

Process 4311 attached - interrupt to quit
restart_syscall(... resuming interrupted call ...

It only helps to kill these processes with pkill.

[Bug 263944] Re: Booting OS from SD card reader(through SDIO interface)

2009-09-06 Thread Bartosz
1. Summary
During the last step of installation of Ubuntu, grub will be installed. Before
run grub commands to install grub, the device name must be convert from OS
syntax to grub’s syntax. Such as “/dev/sda1” will be translated into “(hd0,
0)”. But SD memory card’s name style, “/dev/mmcblkxpy” (x: device number, y:
partition number), doesn’t support in current grub install shell script. The
grub installation will fail when install Ubuntu into SD memory card. In order
to complete the installation, we must modify the grub install shell script to
support SD memory card.

2.1 Modified Files
/usr/share/grub-installer/grub-installer
/usr/sbin/grub-install

2.2 For Device Mapping
According to the grub’s syntax, the OS device name will be split into disk part
and partition part. Such as “/dev/mmcblk0p1” will be translated into “(hd0,
0)”.
To complete this, I add some code in grub-installer and grub-install to
recognize /dev/mmcblkxpy and add some command in grub-installer to generate the
device mapping file “device.map”.

2.3 For initrd Update
I add commands to update the initrd at the end of the grub-installer.

2.4 Notice

1. All the modification in source code has been added comment with my name
“tonyxu”.
2. I have used “touch” and “echo” commands to generate the device mapping file
“device.map”. It’s better to generate it by /usr/sbin/grub. But “grub” is a
binary file; I have no idea how to generate the file in it.
3. To boot from SD memory card, the driver modules needed by the card
(mmc_core, mmc_block, sdhci) must be loaded at the boot time. So I add commands
to update the initrd at the end of the grub-installer. Maybe the initrd should
be updated before grub installation.

[Bug 422298] Re: dash interpreter don't handle some unicode characters correctly

2009-09-06 Thread ZelinskiyIS
The source of the bug has been found.
As for dash-0.5.4, in expand.c:240 there is a line
rmescapes(p);
If one follows the macro, he or she will find that it just trashes chars 129
and 136 (\201\210 octal).
In UTF-8 representation of letters сшЁ (two bytes per a letter) the second byte
is just from the set:
$ echo сшЁ|hexdump -b
000 321 201 321 210 320 201 012
007
That's what causes the bug. The bug is UTF-8 specific, if KOI-8 was used for
Cyrillics (as it is in Debian), there would be no such bug.

unregister schema's. Schema's are unregistered on upgrade by the old
versions prerm script, before the new versions files are unpacked. The
schemas are then re-registered by the new versions postinst script. By
this stage, the files of gnome-session and gnome-session-bin should
already be unpacked. Did this happen only on upgrade from Jaunty to
Karmic? If so, would you mind attaching the files in /var/log/dist-
upgrade? They might contains something useful.

Thanks

Many bug fixes (see upstream change log). The sid package builds and
installs on Karmic (see logs), but I am unable to test it since I don't
have any flash roms.

[Bug 378391] Re: Source rename clobbered local changes (so tapping not working in Karmic)

2009-09-06 Thread bodhi.zazen
I had the same problem after upgrading to 9.10 alpha.

The fix was to
:/usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/20thirdparty/11-x11-synaptics.fdi

sudo cp /usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/20thirdparty/11-x11-synaptics.fdi
/etc/hal/fdi/policy/

Reboot

Go under System - Preferences - Mouse

Go under the Touchpad tab
Select (check off) the Enable mouse clicks with touchpad box

(While you are there, you may wish to disable it while typing =) )

[Bug 425014] Re: [karmic] alpha-5, incomplete translation template

2009-09-06 Thread Steve Langasek
Fixed the out-of-date template, so the full template will be imported
into Rosetta following the next upload (which needs mvo's input yet,
since there's a changelog entry in bzr saying that the other changes
need testing first).

There's still a general problem here that the .pot file isn't being
regenerated automatically or periodically. Michael, do you have any
thoughts on how best to make that happen, so it's not overlooked in the
future?

[Bug 425379] [NEW] [Karmic Alpha 5] grub doesn't install entries for other OS (Ubuntu Jaunty/Windows XP)

2009-09-06 Thread Loïc Martin
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: grub2

After a Karmic Alpha 5 live CD install (i386), at reboot grub (grub 2)
only shows entries for the Karmic install on /dev/sda5 (first logical
partition), and doesn't show entries for the Jaunty install on /dev/sda2
(primary partition) not for a Windows XP install on /dev/sda3

For install, the custom partitioning option was used (Ubiquity only
other option was to wipe the entire disk, even though /dev/sda5 was
empty...), no partitions were deleted/created, /dev/sda1 chosen as a
swap partition, /dev/sda5 as an ext4 / partition, /dev/sda2 as an ext3
partition mounted on /media/stable and /dev/sda3 not used. Only
/dev/sda1 and /dev/sda5 were formated.

(note that since then I've re-plugged another HD on the second MB SATA
port, which for an obscure reason always get detected by Ubuntu as
/dev/sda, so the ubuntu-bug collected data might show the Karmic
partition as /dev/sdb5, the Jaunty one as /dev/sdb2 and the XP one as
/dev/sdb3.)

[Bug 425386] [NEW] dovecot package missing dovecot-sieve LDA plugin

2009-09-06 Thread Stephen Warren

dovecot's own sieve plugin:

[Bug 425393] [NEW] Some DVDs will not mount

2009-09-06 Thread dogscoff
Public bug reported:

Some movie DVDs will not mount. Others are fine. Inserting a problem
DVD produces lots of noise from the DVD drive, but then silence. The DVD
does not appear in the places menu. Selecting the drive from
Computer reports No media in drive. Opening VLC and trying to open
the DVD from there reports Playback failure: DVDRead could not open the
disk /dev/sr0 Your input can't be opened: VLC is unable to open the MRL
'dvd:///dev/sr0'. Check the log for details.

Problem DVDs include Kill Bill Vol 2, 300, jumpers. These same
DVDs worked fine under 8.10.

Not a hardware problem (some DVDs work properly)
Not a media problem (DVDs work in other hardware)

Ubuntu 9.04 64bit.

I have the following installed: libdvdcss2 1.2.10-02, libdvdnav4,
libdvdread4, ubuntu-restricted-extras 31, totem gstreamer, w64codecs,
libxine1-ffmpeg and more.

kk, thought you were referring to the whole bug, my apologies.
Apparently we'll have alsa 1.0.20 in karmic, i seem to remember that
the alsa guys said this was supposedly fixed in 21.

It's a stupid bug all in all... is just a little problem with the card
identification heuristics, as specifying a similar model by hand
solves the issue. Ah, well.

[Bug 425398] [NEW] PulseAudio crashes on shutdown.

2009-09-06 Thread TBOL3
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

When I was shutting down, I got an error saying pulseaudio has crashed.
The computer shut down before I was able to send the report, so I am
sending it now.

Pulse Audio was running fine before I shutdown, and if xorg didn't crash
on the next time I started my computer, I have a feeling that it would
have worked fine then. (As I'm in the command line right now, I know of
no way to test it).

So, I am just sending this because of the error message, I assume there
is something wrong 'under the hood'.

BTW, I am using Ubuntu 9.10, with the latest updates (at least in the
default update manager), installed.

[Bug 422920] Re: empathy crashed with SIGSEGV in g_main_context_dispatch()

2009-09-06 Thread Kristoffer Lundén
Got the same as Jean-Yves, more or less: Installed alpha5, worked
without a problem (also worked in the live CD) - then suddenly a crash
just randomly and after that it won't start. Apport first told me to
update, so I did that. No difference, apart from that Apport says that
it can't extract any useful information (guess no debug info
available?).

So it's hard to provide any extra info, since apport can't collect any.

I did set up one MSN and one Jabber account, and they worked at first.
