[Bug 34155] Re: Suspend-To-Ram (S3) doesn't work on Dell Latitude C640
@Erik Andrén I tried to follow the instructions, but was a little confused, mostly because configuring GRUB2 is different from the previous version. I installed the drivers and added the 'radeon.modeset=1' line to GRUB2's new config file at /etc/default/grub in the area where bootloader settings are supposed to go. But I just got an error saying that it was unrecognized and it tossed it out. When my system fully booted, the display was, well, bizarre. I could make out what I was doing, but everything seemed like it was being passed through a mosaic filter. Other pages linked to by the one you provide seem to suggest that this only works with the 2.6.31-13 kernels and up, but these are not Karmic's repositories. I've been following this bug for three years and I really, really want to get it fixed. [Bug 425914] Re: [FFe] CC and NC networking mode is set to 'SYSTEM' by default
In SYSTEM mode, Eucalypus connects instances to the existing LAN by way of a bridge, and relies on existing networking infrastructure (DHCP servers, DNS, etc.) to run them. This is a very basic mode of operation, and is somewhat limited. In MANAGED(-NOVLAN) you get all the bells and whistles Eucalyptus has to offer: EBS, Elastic IP's, the user-data and meta-data service, etc. So much for the rationale. In order to get into MANAGED(-NOVLAN) mode, Eucalyptus needs to have a dedicated subnet for its instances. I've added debconf questions to get networking information from the admin and changed a bit of logic along the way to make Eucalyptus use these settings. In this mode, Eucalyptus will run a few extra services, which will only be exposed to Eucalyptus' internal subnet. -- [FFe] CC and NC networking mode is set to 'SYSTEM' by default https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/425914 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 429852] [NEW] multiple sound device output missing?
Public bug reported: Karmic Alpha 6 LiveCD I'm not sure if this is a feature request, regression report or what, given the overlap and development of Gnome and Pulseaudio, etc, but one of the features we have through padevchooser (which we aren't supposed to use, I know) on Jaunty and Intrepid, is the ability to specify /on a per audio stream basis/ to which set of speakers to play. So suppose I had usb headphones. That would show up as another audio device, and pulseaudio would happily stream to *both* my main speakers and my headphones. Further, I could have certain streams go to one of the other speaker set. Is there a way to do this through the current interface? Or is this a regression? ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: Karmic Alpha 6 LiveCD I'm not sure if this is a feature request, regression report or what, given the overlap and development of Gnome and Pulseaudio, etc, but one of the features we have through padevchooser (which we aren't supposed - to use, I know) on Jaunty and Intrepid, is the ability specify /on a per - audio stream basis/ to which set of speakers to play. + to use, I know) on Jaunty and Intrepid, is the ability to specify /on a + per audio stream basis/ to which set of speakers to play. [Bug 429842] [NEW] Apport spawns loads of processes
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: apport In addition (or possibly due?) to bug 429839 it happens quite often that about 3 bln apport instances get launched (at least on the KDE side of things), flooding ones screen with dialogs that are all stating basically the same, just with different names. Also, considering kdesudo does not have cached sudo access yet, the 3 bln apport instances will be preceded by 3 bln kdesudo instances (which is even more pointless since one only needs to auth once). To prevent both from happening Apport should implement some kind of collection feature and only launch _one_ gui instance in some special mode allow for batch processing/dismissing of reports (in Qt that probably would be done using a stackwidget or similar). [Bug 429839] [NEW] Apport reports crashes when it feels like it
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: apport For some unknown reason Apport regularly does not choose to report a crash, but at some later point when it feels more comfortable (preferably when the user is actually doing work and not poking around for hot wallpapers). Also it tempts to re-report crashes. For example see attached screenshot. Java and vlc were last used 3 days ago, apport was a PITA back then (because I deliberately crashed them for a work project) yet today it shows the crashes again. I doubt this would make much sense for a user? At some point he might notice that he is wasting time trying to report the same bug over and over. ** Affects: apport (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Apport reports crashes when it feels like it https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/429839 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 425874] Re: "No screenshot available" handling
sorry for messing you around Christoph but with regards to a feature request it might be best if there was a way we could detect whether there was no screenshot available :-( Also this way the branding would be easy for other distros, say Linux Mint wanted to brand it; without putting more work on you, it would scale better. Is there an easy way which we could do this that wouldn't be too much work for you? -- "No screenshot available" handling https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/425874 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 429356] Re: Evolution shows new message notification with wrong count
Also, if Evolution runs for a long time, the "new message" count gets ridiculously high, eventually becoming meaningless since I don't remember how many of those are _really_ new messages, the only thing it is meaningful for is "this is the number of messages that Evolution has received since it started". If there is a notification dæmon other than notify-osd available in Karmic, I can try that, but I am 99% sure it will yield the same result. Of course, that hasn't been an issue lately, since I've had to restart nearly daily (and sometimes more frequently) between graphics chipset crashes (not the fault of software) and bug 406582. -- Evolution shows new message notification with wrong count https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/429356 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 429356] Re: Evolution shows new message notification with wrong count
Just to further show the effects when Evo has been running for a long time, please see the attached. When Evolution is restarted, the count resets to zero. However, while it remains running, it always increases. In this case, it's been running for roughly an hour. I maintain my mailbox as messages come in, most of the time, so my inbox stays relatively empty. At most, it has 50 messages that I haven't processed/looked at yet. Note that when I restart Evolution, I do not restart notify-osd (which, combined with my knowledge of how the notification system works and the specification underlying it, would seem to imply that notify-osd cannot possibly be a failing component here). ** Attachment added: "evolution-msg-count-bug-2.png" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/31819960/evolution-msg-count-bug-2.png -- Evolution shows new message notification with wrong count https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/429356 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
