[Bug 451607] Re: The CC sometimes advertises the wrong IP address via avahi
The fix for bug 449143 introduces two problems. The first one is 169.243.169.243 appears as the first address in the /etc/eucalyptus/eucalyptus-ipaddr.conf logic, so it is used as the cloud address if its already up, causing despair and desolation (this bug) The second one is that ifconfig eth0 will show up the link-local address only, as Dustin says in comment 2. I'm not sure exactly how nasty this is and what exact things is breaks, though. 169.254.0.0/16 is a link-local range, so assinging it link-local seems to be the right way of doing it. I 'll commit a fix for /etc/eucalyptus/eucalyptus-ipaddr.conf so that it discards 169.243.169.243 as a valid cloud IP. For the second part, its a direct consequence of the fix in bug 449143. So if its a real issue I'd suggest reopening that bug, revert that change, and discuss a better way to fix the issue there. ** Changed in: eucalyptus (Ubuntu Karmic) Status: Triaged = In Progress -- The CC sometimes advertises the wrong IP address via avahi https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/451607 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to eucalyptus in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 90388] Re: hostname supplied by dhcp server is not used
Hello... I was so happy finding this script but it didn't work for me... I tried to use it on karmic today. First I did like on hardy, using a hostname file empty (it was well working), but it seems it prevents the eth0 interface to be brought up networkmanager and even if declared in /etc/network/interfaces. So it seems that the script is launched later than gdm... But I have not the /tmp/dhcp-sethostname.err file which should have been created... So how to change this order and bring up eth0 before gdm ? -- hostname supplied by dhcp server is not used https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/90388 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to dhcp3 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 445105] Re: uses unsafe /tmp files
Greetings, We've analyzed the points in the source tree that are referenced, and have found that none of them are actually exercised in a Karmic default eucalyptus running system. More detail on each follows: GLclient is a testing utility that doesn't get installed by the package (or a 'make install' for that matter) ./gatherlog/GLclient.c: env = axutil_env_create_all(/tmp/fooh, AXIS2_LOG_LEVEL_TRACE); install-sh is only used for building eucalyptus ./install-sh:tmpdir=${TMPDIR-/tmp}/ins$RANDOM-$$ the function in 'storage.c' that uses these files is only used by 'test.c' in 'storage/', which is a utility that is never installed ./storage/storage.c:#define F1 /tmp/improbable-cache-file-1 ./storage/storage.c:#define F2 /tmp/improbable-cache-file-2 ./storage/storage.c:#define F3 /tmp/improbable-cache-file-3 ./storage/storage.c:#define F4 /tmp/improbable-cache-file-4 ./storage/storage.c:#define F5 /tmp/improbable-cache-file-5 ./storage/storage.c:#define RM_CMD rm -rf /tmp/improbable-cache-file-? CCclient is a debugging utility that is not installed ./cluster/CCclient.c: env = axutil_env_create_all(/tmp/fofo, AXIS2_LOG_LEVEL_TRACE); These two are never used for Karmic by default (which uses the handlers_kvm.c), unless a user installs Xen on their node controllers. The first can be entirely removed (is just there for debugging). The second is actually, I believe, as unpredictable or more so than a file created with mktemp(). While it's not predictable, the file isn't handled safely on creation. At the least, I would recommend adding O_EXCL to the flags. This may require an unlink() call to blow away old files, but that's symlink-attack safe. With the O_EXCL, worst case is a DoS on the console output. Speaking of that code, I noticed this on the side that waits for the file to appear: while(count 1 stat(filename, statbuf) 0) {count++;} fd = open(filename, O_RDONLY); That loop is going to go by _very_ quickly. e.g. on my system, that takes 0.017 seconds to execute. [Bug 452323] Re: Unable to start EUC instances - no supported architecture for os type 'hvm'
Hmm. I wonder if this could be related to the bios. I'll check it to ensure the correct settings are enabled for KVM. Could an error like this occur if the bios was not setup correctly? -- Unable to start EUC instances - no supported architecture for os type 'hvm' https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/452323 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to eucalyptus in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

If VT extensions are not enabled in the BIOS, there should be an error message in there. -- Mathias Gug Ubuntu Developer http://www.ubuntu.com -- Unable to start EUC instances - no supported architecture for os type 'hvm' https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/452323 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to eucalyptus in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
