[Bug 378726] Re: package moodle 1.9.4.dfsg-0ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade:
Nominated for SRU for Jaunty. This bug causes installation to fail for users who do not already have PostgreSQL or MySQL configured first. This bug was fixed in Karmic with 1.9.4.dfsg-0ubuntu4 by having moodle depend on either PostgreSQL or MySQL. Also we are moving debconf to depends instead of pre-depends as pre-depends is heavily discouraged. TEST CASE: To test bug: Install moodle. During installation, select postgresql (as that is default). Moodle installation will fail with the error "package moodle 1.9.4.dfsg-0ubuntu1.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1" If moodle were setup correctly, you would be able to access the software by visiting http://localhost/moodle/ in your web browser. To test fix: Purge moodle php5-pgsql php5-xmlrpc postgresql postgresql-8.3 postgresql-client-8.3 postgresql-client-common postgresql-common mysql-server mysql-server-5.0 php5-mysql Install patched moodle. Installation should complete and http://localhost/moodle/ should work fine. There is no expected regression potential. ** Attachment added: "moodle_1.9.4.dfsg-0ubuntu1.2.debdiff" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/34309718/moodle_1.9.4.dfsg-0ubuntu1.2.debdiff -- package moodle 1.9.4.dfsg-0ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/378726 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hi, As we are way past Feature Freeze, please follow the Feature Freeze exception process described at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FreezeExceptionProcess. [Bug 456985] Re: account configuration not working
Steve, Would you agree to adding the "broken_shadow" option to pam_unix in the account mode? The use case here is a laptop that normally authenticates with kerberos and gets it's NSS from LDAP, including the shadow map, even though it's not really used in this situation (due to the use of kerberos). This all works fine when the laptop is connected to the network. But take it away from the network where it depends on pam-ccreds to cache the kerberos authentication tokens (works just fine) and nscd to cache the passwd/group entries that were used while connected to the network, there is no shadow entry available for nscd cached passwd entries and thus, pam_unix's account mode breaks. -- account configuration not working https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/456985 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I had this problem earlier in the karmic release cycle, and now, after using Update Manager to update to what I assume is the Release Candidate, the problem returned. I think this is a design feature to stop unwanted repeat playing of the sound. [Bug 367685] Re: xmacro quit-key no longer recognized
@Rich: that's exactly my issue. I'm still using 8.10, and it is entirely because of this that I have not been able to update. It looks like Karmic will also not be an option for me, since this issue has apparently not been fixed in that release either. Very frustrating. I don't have the technical knowledge to work on this, but how do we hunt down someone who does? Can we at least isolate the issue? It seems that the xmacro programs are written in C++. Does anyone have enough of knowledge of that language that they could take a brief look at this and see if it's an easy fix? Perhaps it's something incredibly simple... if it is, I'd hate for this issue to continue to sit here unfixed. Still happens with Karmic (updated to 20091023), with Totem set to use Xv and fglrx 2:8.660-0ubuntu4 driving a Radeon HD4770. No modifications to xorg.conf. Tests with fullscreen video Without Compiz In Totem, normal X output doesn't tear (or if it does, it's subtle) but does more than double CPU usage. Using OpenGL in VLC doesn't tear, uses less CPU (but not as little as Xv). Xv tears with a progressive tear line proceeding distractingly down the screen With Compiz (and with sync to vblank and refresh set to match amdcc) In Totem, normal X and Xv tear in a progressive manner, with the tear line progressing down the screen a bit more haphazardly than without Compiz. [Bug 458524] Re: Dies with "Uncaught exception: Unable to read from stdin: Success"
I'm experiencing the same issue, on Karmic-rc-server-amd64. However, I think I can add some additional info to shed some light on this: A thread on the Debian bugtracker mentions that this may be related to a broken libcwidget3. Updating it with 'aptitude update; aptitude upgrade' does not fix it as of post time. However, I've noticed that the issue may not be with aptitude at all, but with the terminal. Scrolling the bash history on the ttys sometimes prints control characters instead of acting as up/down arrows. If I log in via ssh, aptitude works fine. Based on that, I think that the culprit is more likely the framebuffer device. -- Dies with "Uncaught exception: Unable to read from stdin: Success" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/458524 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 447725] Re: grub nice 'recordfail' feature doesn't work for hibernation
making grubenv read-only prevents the change to 1, is incorrect, grub2 simply makes it a backup file & creates a new grubenv file with recordfail=1. so, if I want to boot directly to the O, I have to manally set grubenv recordfail=0. I hate to say it, but Grub-legacy was simpler, & less error prone, only an expert could benefit from Grub2, most users only care about simple, easy choices, & want a PC just to boot to the OS of their choice without having to have a degree in computer science.
