[Bug 457220] Re: OpenOffice crashes when saving .doc file with "notes" in it, Karmic.
I confirm this bug on a fresh install of Karmic Kubuntu. The bug seems to be related to inserting Notes, not track changes. Docs with Notes can be saved in other formats (docx, rft) but the notes disappear. Save in office97/2000 and you get a crash if a note is inserted -- OpenOffice crashes when saving .doc file with "notes" in it, Karmic. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/457220 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 459265] Re: oops in gss_validate
It seems that the fix has not been integrated yet in Karmic. I have updated to 2.6.31-15. However, the "gss_validate" problem remains. Is there any reason why the fix has not been submitted for Karmic? I'd like to give more information as it may relate to this bug. 1. An orange triangle with a "!" appeared on a status bar 2. A while after that there appears an "Information available" dialog with the "Run this action now" button - see the smaller attachment 3. Clicking the button causes popping-up an unnamed dialog saying "An error occured" and information which looks informative but hard to understand, such as GPG error (what is it), invalid signature and a BADSIG (what are they) and ftpmas...@ubuntu.com (who is it) - see the bigger attachment During the time of using Intrepid and Jaunty I have never seen this. For those who plan to upgrade to Karmic, please think twice and make sure you have a modern and not too customized system. This problem occured on the upgraded machine - an Acer TravelMate 4720 which I have to used it as it is because I have no way to go back to Jaunty. I loose almost the whole things in another machine because upgrading failed. I backed up all my files so they are saved. I can freshly installed Jaunty. Just tested on live-CD that it's not fixed on karmic. On karmic, /etc/default/avahi-daemon isn't simply created anymore, making it actually more difficult to workaround this problem. But the /var/run /avahi-daemon/disabled-for-unicast-local is still being created and Avahi is disabled. As usual, adding the avahi-daemon file with AVAHI_DAEMON_DETECT_LOCAL=0 workarounds the problem. -- Some ISPs have .local domain which disables avahi-daemon https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/327362 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 461419] Re: [Karmic] Atheros AR5211 - ath5k driver connection and performance issues
Since upgrading to the Karmic Release, I haven't been able to connect to any WiFi point using WPA. I can connect to open APs just fine with no problems. I have am running the full release of Karmic, so that covers 1. I have tried steps 2 and 3, rebooting after each, and still no connection on WPA. It tries for a long time, then just disconnects. [Bug 436341] Re: PC slot unsupported, and many "cardbus cards are not supported" messages running Karmic on Averatec 3280
There may be a relationship to the Openchrome display driver or other component of the X system: If I open up the gnome-terminal and run `tail -f /var/log/kern.log` I see the 2 messages per second as described in comment #25 above. Also the size of kern.log is constantly increasing. However, if I switch to a text console (eg tty1) and execute the same command, kern.log does not change - that is, the messages stop. It's not clear that the display driver or other X software are causing the pcmcia socket from working, or are just causing the messages. ** Description changed: While booting Karmic (Alpha 6 plus updates to present time) many (30 to 50) messages "cardbus cards are not supported" are displayed. They show up in /var/log/kern.log, two messages a second. Also, no cards work in the PC card slot, while they do work under 9.04 and 8.04.3LTS. (See comments #19 and #20 below). + + This MAY be related to the Openchrome driver or other X software - see + comment #26 below. [Bug 444135] Re: update-manager did not clean up after dist-upgrade failed with minor problems
I also have this problem, and since the clean-up did not take place, I have almost no disk space left. Is there another way to get this done? the only package that failed is not critical, so I want to go forward (or all the way backward if that is not possible), but as it is now, the system is nearly unusable (due to the lack of space). I don't want to do a complete uninstall/reinstall unless that is the last possible resort, as it will take weeks to get all of the optional packages and configurations back the way it was. I'm running Wubi, and I was in the process of trying to figure out how to back up/restore *just* the wubi install without having to restore all of windows if something like this happened - I guess I should have waited to figure that out first :-). -- update-manager did not clean up after dist-upgrade failed with minor problems https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/444135 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 465497] Re: no mic on EEE pc 1005ha 9.10
This is not fixed. Mic works in nothing except gnome-sound-recorder with the backports installed. The only way to get the mic to work is to uninstall pulseaudio, which has all sorts of ramifications. You can get the mic to work in some apps by running the Front Mic Boost and Capture sliders to max, but recording is full of static (with or without pulseaudio). Opening the gnome-volume-control-applet and touching the Input slider kills the mic again. [Bug 366743] Re: Separate X screen blank in Jaunty (nvidia)
I have just struggled with a similar issue for the last several days: Ubuntu 9.04 (AMD64) with NVidia drivers I have a primary monitor in 1024x768 and a projector in 1920x1080 and prefer to run with separate x-screens. This worked fine in Ubunty 8.04, but with Ubuntu 9.04 the 2nd screen did not work properly. After a bunch of messing around I finally realized that the problem is that there is no "screen1" directory in /.gconf/apps/compiz. There is a "screen0" directory there though. To fix the issue I did the following: 1) Installed CompizConfig Manager using "- sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager" 2) In the CompizConfig Settings Manager -> General Options -> Display Settings - Disabled "Detect Outputs" - Set Outputs to "1024x768+0+0" 3) In a terminal - cd .gconf/apps/compiz - mkdir screen1 - cp -r screen0/* screen1 - cd screen1/options - vi %gconf.xml --> Modified resolution to "1920x1080" 4) I rebooted and everything works fine (except the mouse still has that odd behavior) -- Separate X screen blank in Jaunty (nvidia) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/366743 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
