[Bug 489578] [NEW] Impossible to use podcast feature of Rhytmnbox

2009-11-28 Thread Didier DOMINE
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

If podcasts file(s) not yet downloaded appears in the podcasts list, and then I
try to download them, just, exactly just at the end of their download, the
corresponding podcast disappear immediately from the list (it is removed from
the list).
As it is impossible to play a podcast not yet downloaded, this involve that I
can never listen to any podcast : Just at the moment they will be available,
they disappear ! Very frustrating. Living overseas far from my originating
country, I've been using podcasts a lot, now I can't.

[Bug 362397] Re: VPN Not Connecting in Jaunty, but was in Intrepid

2009-11-28 Thread mac_v
Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. However, a paper cut
should be a small usability issue, in the default Ubuntu install, that
affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. So this bug can't be
addressed as part of this project.

- This is a bug , not a papercut.
For further information about papercuts criteria, please read
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PaperCut.

Don't worry though, this bug has been marked as Invalid only in the
papercuts project.

[Bug 489581] [NEW] Moving a always on visible workspace window to other workspace using expo makes it inaccessible

2009-11-28 Thread Daniel Sousa
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

How to reprouce:
1)On a window, choose the option Always on visible workspace
2)Open Expo (I do it with mod4+e shortcut)
3)Try to drag the window that is visible in all workspaces to other workspace

I made this with Pidgin's buddy list and the window disappeared from the
panel (both window list and notification area), Alt-Tab finds the window
but when I select it (releasing the Alt key) it switches to other
workspace and doesn't show the window.

lights flashing. you can imagine I had to switch of and back on ten times to do

[Bug 462364] Re: safely remove drive causes segfault in libgobject and libXtst

2009-11-28 Thread Random
Here's my 2 cents on this issue. I have a Sansa c250 mp3 player running Rockbox
v 3.4. It has 2 Gb internal storage and a 4 Gb microsdhc card. The combination
of Karmic stable and v3.4 of Rockbox is the first combo to recognize both
(previously I had to eject the sd card and insert it into a separate reader).
Nautilus shows as 'Rockbox Internal Storage: Sansa c250' and 'Rockbox SD Card
Slot: 4.0 GB Filesystem', separate entries. It always crashed the desktop on
right-click 'Safely Remove Drive' whether I had unmounted the drives or not. I
logged on today to report this, and found this thread, so I enabled 'apport' as
instructed to provide the requested crash data - and the desktop did NOT crash.
First I unmounted both entries and 'safely removed', no problem. Then, I simply
tried 'safely remove' while both were mounted - same result, no crash, both
removed just fine.

I'm disappointed I couldn't add to this bug report, but happy that my issue
seems to have resolved itself - I just wish I knew HOW.

[Bug 472305] Re: [karmic] Cannot connect 3G with AnyData A100 modem, +CMEE problem (failure code 100)

2009-11-28 Thread Dmitry
The same problem for AnyData ADU-510 - no connect through NM after
upgrade from 9.04, but can connect through gnome-ppp after removal of
modemmanager.

However it works normally on clean install of 9.10

[Bug 489586] [NEW] hpoj package recomends hpijs, which uninstalls hpoj (karmic)

Public bug reported:

I have hpoj installed.
I go to synaptic, find hpoj, selected Marcar recomendados para instalación

I expect to have installed both, hpoj and hpijs, in order to print with a HP

[Bug 233963] Re: Please merge gnome-chemistry-utils 0.10.8-1 (universe) from Debian testing (main)

2009-11-28 Thread Daniel Leidert
1) The error indicates, that the plugin has not been built. The
configure output and the build-log should tell why.

2) Yes, you have to merge parts of the Ubuntu changes into the Debian
package (I'm the maintainer for Debian). But I tried to make this as
easy as possible (just the browser in the debian/control files and the
plugin links).

reboot the vm. Note that you may have to unmute devices after the
reboot as they may become muted in the process.

[Bug 489588] [NEW] Resuming from an interrupted connction always fails and requires reboot.

2009-11-28 Thread mike
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

Description:Ubuntu 9.10
Release:9.10
network-manager:
  Installed: 0.8~a~git.20091013t193206.679d548-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 0.8~a~git.20091013t193206.679d548-0ubuntu1

500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com karmic/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

This issue was present in 8.04 and 8.10, I kept hoping it would be
resolved.

I have an excellent wifi-n connection until my wireless home phone rings
and then the wifi goes down and the network manager starts showing the
spin cycle. Normally any interruptions to the connection will reconnect,
i.e. I turn the router off etc, but in this case, if the phone rings for
more that a few seconds the wifi stops trying to reconnect apparently.

I can understand it timing out, but what must be a bug is that manually
clicking in NM on the visible SSID has no affect, it just tells me the network
is disconnected and appears to make no attempt to reconnect. I then usually try
pretending it is hidden connection and I try opening it, this does not work
either. I have even tried deleting the connection and re entering it but still
I cannot get wifi back.
I normally just reboot the machine, I will do some tests now and attach the
results, however this will take a while as I will have to reboot each time to
post the results!

[Bug 446632] Re: blender-bin crashed with SIGSEGV in GPU_state_init()

2009-11-28 Thread mistr
I can confirm that downgrading helps.

I installed the following packages from the very first karmic versions
of mesa, skipping the binaries from the mesa packages that were not
already installed on my system:

libgl1-mesa-dri_7.4-0ubuntu3_i386.deb
libgl1-mesa-glx_7.4-0ubuntu3_i386.deb
libgl1-mesa-glx-dbg_7.4-0ubuntu3_i386.deb
libglu1-mesa_7.4-0ubuntu3_i386.deb
mesa-utils_7.4-0ubuntu3_i386.deb

I now have a very nice pattern if the notifier pops up, and the window
decoration looks a bit strange, too. Redrawing of damaged areas is also
a bit slow. But Blender does not crash!

The next task would be to find the version that makes Blender crash.

[Bug 163374] Re: no link to create a new ID

2009-11-28 Thread mac_v
Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. However, a paper cut
should be a small usability issue, in the default Ubuntu install, that
affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. So this bug can't be
addressed as part of this project.

Thanks

In /etc/hosts, could you please change the line
127.0.1.1 Ubi.home
with
127.0.1.1 Ubi.home Ubi

Check if this fix that problem by running:
# hostname -d

It should return home instead of 'unknown host'.

Then try performing the upgrade again. This will likely resolve your
issue. If so please set the bug's status to Invalid. Thanks in advance!

[Bug 485798] Re: Dictionaries are NOT easy to install

2009-11-28 Thread Martin Mai
Comment from upstream:

Installing dictionaries is a distro-level issue. Different Linux distributions
use different dictionary systems (aspell, myspell, hunspell, etc.) and
different package management systems (apt, deb, Portage, etc.). It's
unfortunate, but at present it's simply beyond the scope of Evolution to try
and install additional software on your system. There's just too many
variables.

So maybe the evolution user guide (evolution-documentation-*) should be
patched for Ubuntu to contain the available dictionaries?

2009-11-28 Thread mac_v
Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. However, a paper cut
should be a small usability issue, in the default Ubuntu install, that
affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. So this bug can't be
addressed as part of this project.

- This is not a bug affecting a majority of user group. Hence not a papercut.

[Bug 339046] Re: Wireless WPA key corrupted

2009-11-28 Thread Willem Hobers
I appreciate that this bug is marked as FixReleases for Karmic. Yet, as Karmic
gave me other problems, I reverted back to 9.4.
In 9.4 this bug persists.

Is there a way to get this fixed in 9.4?

(Synaptic suggests I should force version, but that item is greyed out
in the menu.)

[Bug 488704] Re: isLuks doesn't returns boolean for a LUKS partition

2009-11-28 Thread mejo
the described behaviour is not a bug but rather a feature.
isLuks is meant as a test for luks device. in case you want
it to output something, you can do something like
# cryptsetup isLuks ... echo is a LUKS device

alternatively you can use luksUUID or luksDump, which do
give output in case that the device in question is a
LUKS device.

Is this the method you were referring to? I think the developers may

[Bug 489597] [NEW] PMI Schema in slapd package can't be added to database

2009-11-28 Thread rdratlos
Public bug reported:

The PMI scheme that is provided by Ubuntu karmic makes reference to syntax
definitions, e.g.:
olcLdapSyntaxes: {2}( 1.3.6.1.4.1.4203.666.11.10.2.6 DESC 'X.509 PMI role
syntax' ...)

which are not recognized by openldap. The utility splatest can convert
the PMI scheme into a LDIF file but when trying to add the ldif content
to the LDAP database we get an error. The same applies when adding the
ldif file with slaptest to slapd.d configuration directory and then
checking the database using slapcat. As an example the out put of the
ldapadd command is shown:

$ ldapadd -Y EXTERNAL -H ldapi:/// -f pmi.ldif

adding new entry cn={14}pmi,cn=schema,cn=config
ldap_add: Other (e.g., implementation specific) error (80)

[Bug 489558] Re: Kernel panic occurs randomly under normal use on Eee pc 901, Ubuntu 9.10 fully patched

2009-11-28 Thread jtniehof
Thanks for the report. Here are a few links to get started on hopefully getting
a useable crashdump:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DebuggingSystemCrash
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/KernelTeamBugPolicies#Capturing%20OOPs
(particularly the link to the crashdump recipe)

If possible, you might also want to try working without wireless for
awhile and see if that improves the situation.

[Bug 486862] Re: rotating a jpg photo (eg CTRL+R), then saving it (eg CTRL+S), moves a few lines or columns of pixels from one end to the opposite

2009-11-28 Thread François Chantret
Thank you very much for your comment.
As you can see, I tried with various types of jpg images. Among all, a lot seem
to reproduce the bug. For example, I've been able to reproduce the bug anytime,
with any 200 x 150 pixel jpg image, with any number of CTRL+R rotations. I
suggest that you use the file example_eog_ace.jpg (attached), for instance,
to reproduce the bug yourself.

2009-11-28 Thread mejo
i believe that this and other misleading errors have been fixed in
cryptsetup 1.0.7~rc1. from the changelog:

* Summary of changes in subversion for 1.0.7-rc1:
* [...]
* Check device size when loading LUKS header. Remove misleading error
message later.
* Add error hint if dm-crypt mapping failed.
* Use better error messages if device doesn't exist or is already used
by other mapping.
* [...]
* Return more descriptive error in case of IO or header format error.
* [...]
* Check device mapper communication and warn user if device-mapper
support missing in kernel.
* [...]
* Error handling improvement.

I am sorry that this didn't work! For me it worked in 3 different

Mark Abene solution.

However you can access your files using the process described in
